Re: SLM605 aquired. Now what?

SpeedoGDOS has a generic SLM driver.. you could try that.

Find it here... http://www.atari.org/services/systemdisks.php

Re: SH204 installation problems

Look what I found!

AHDI Version 2.

Unimaged and made 'normal'.
Just open the ZIP copy onto a normal DD floppy. (Tested on an ST..it loads) Its in German though.

But its not hard to figure out.

That blue wire appears to go to pin 39 of the video shifter (CO25914)

Thats your 16Mhz clock.

Re: Mega ST 2, 4mb upgrade, only 2mb seen, but sometimes 4mb

Ok. The U58/59 chips are as you mentioned 74xx244s. which are Buffer/Line driver chips. Meaning... perhaps best described as signal boosters/isolaters. (with 8 channels in and out) You might even compare them to relays They take the load of the power hungry ram select lines instead of the MMU in thi...

Cool, but DAMN expensive...(with shipping to Oz). I'll hunt around for options, but this may be a way to use the blitter socket for IDE AND FPU. (Because I WANT too) I still need a GAL assembler tho...... I CANNOT find the "GAL-Assembler V1.2, (c) May 18 1992 by Ulrich Hack" that ppera use...

Re: Mega ST 2, 4mb upgrade, only 2mb seen, but sometimes 4mb

-12 would be -120ns.

I know its a PITA, but U58/59 might need upgrading/changing to HC. Also do check continuity, maybe those tracks are damaged too.

Umm, And check polarity of the installed capacitors..you never know.....

Re: planed by many fpga shifter replacement simple add for

Show my which pic to program and how to wire it up, I'll make a pcb that will do it.

Seems a few STs have socketed Video Chips. Couldn't be THAT hard to hack up or tack on.

Modern LCD VGAs are SOOO cheap now... its a shame not to have a colour AND mono ST on LCD.

Pile of parts. Well, ALL the ICs have arrived. Just waiting on their sockets.. And some replacement PCBs. What speed were the new chips -80 ... -120 / -150 ns?

Maybe too slow???

Re: Mega ST 2, 4mb upgrade, only 2mb seen, but sometimes 4mb

The TOS change is fine, Many people have changed to 6chip as the roms are easier to find and write to. If you get the chance, drop in TOS 1.4 Removing U12 is unneccessary, but OK- many do. This is not your problem. (I don't have one either) The MMU should be changed to the better type. IMPs often do...

Re: anyone want EtherNEC's ?

You know, if you compare an ISA rtl8019 card.. the ethernec adapter, the onboard logics & how it communicates with the cartridge port. This is one clever little hardware shrink! Just add one little clock generator, and presto. Now write the software...... Good Job on sourcing the realtec chips, ...

Re: Mega ST 2, 4mb upgrade, only 2mb seen, but sometimes 4mb

Is your MMU an IMP 100109 or CO25912?

IMP branded 100109 MMUs are historically bad. I heard this long long ago. Fussy and low output. Never generally happy above 2Mb.

Re: Mega ST 2, 4mb upgrade, only 2mb seen, but sometimes 4mb

RAS2 comes in from the MMU into U59s pin 11 and outputs via pin 9 (then through the 33r resisters) to the RAMs pin3 Funny my Atari PSU has an adjustment pot for 5v... maybe Megas didn't. The voltage sounds a little low. Maybe 22ohm resisters instead could help. Although, the data sheet for 41256 mem...

Actually, I think that decoder is overkill. This one tosmur2.jpg Shamelessly used from http://ppera.07x.net/atari/flashest.php and similar to popsels flashable TOS guide. Is a lot simpler. That wire going to the Diode D2 labeled ROMCE, is the old ROM2 signal available from Jumper W4, or pin 20 of th...

Re: Mega ST 2, 4mb upgrade, only 2mb seen, but sometimes 4mb

I think. The buffer chip U59 could be weak. And/OR RAS2 intemittant. (Those extra gates have been floating for 20years) Good idea idea would be to replace U58/U59 to HC version. (Add a some sockets too) Also check voltage to RAMs. Maybe the psu might need the 5v line checked/increased via small pot ...

Hurrah, The 72pin socket arrived today. Lines up perfectly with the 'custom component' I came up with for it.

Not bad for a little guess work. Spacing of centre mounting hole 'vs' pins, and pin offsets.

Dude, Sadly I live in the FAR south. Australia. A hell of a long walk and a plane ride. Having to desolder your roms is a bummer. or you could piggyback them. Quite a bit easier to solder too.
