Re: Minimig RTG possible?

Some cores don't have proper clock synchronization and/or correct timing constrains . This might result in timing and synchronization issues depending on some random compile settings controlled by the SEED value. So somebody with expertise in the "emulated" system should better eliminate ...

Re: Minimig RTG possible?

Also I was wondering for those who have compiled cores for Mister: 512m is "excluded from Linux use" clearly, but can I still access it from Linux? If I could, then the entire function of the RTG board (except final rendering) could run on core 2 of the HPS and eliminate the need to spend...

Re: Minimig RTG possible?

Don't expect to be able to make Minimig as good as Vampire, their DDR3 is wired to the FPGA quite different and does not have to go through the HPS to be accessed. The concept that DDR is connected to the HPS is a bit misleading. The FPGA connects directly to the DDR controller bypassing completely...

Re: External Video sync?

So this input is not a seperate clock that sync locks Shifter only and the rest of system stays at 32Mhz then? It is not. It syncs the whole systems to the injected clock. Shifter, and the ST in general, is not designed for asynchronous video output. Again, at least on STE, No idea about the TT. Wo...

Re: External Video sync?

I don't know about the TT, but on the STE this was designed exclusively for Genlock purposes. You are supposed to inject a clock with about the same frequency as the nominal main clock (32 MHz). Not sure how much you would be able to overclock the system without ill effects. Also, as noted, some clo...

Re: Floppy image

under Windows XP or Windows 7 which software to create floppy images of 2 sides, 83 tracks, 10 and 11 sectors ? The problem is no so much the software or the operating system but the hardware. You need an old school floppy controller that most newer PCs don't have. Most USB drives won't work except...

Re: What does Atari do better than Amiga?

Hardware-wise the Amiga is pretty much superior to the ST. However, there is one really, really annoying thing with the Amiga - the processor status pins are not connected so the Amiga chipset has no way to determine if the CPU is in supervisor mode or not. The result is that all code can access al...

Re: Minimig RTG possible?

BTW, to support Picasso96 the 4MB of video memory needs to be within the Amiga's memory map. Typically, Zorro III space. I don't think you can use the DDR3 memory for this unless you plan on transferring the Amiga memory to the DDR3 memory. Jim, the FPGA can map some address range to SDRAM and othe...

Re: MidiLink 2.0 looking for testers. (no MIDI devices required)

Actually one channel can be shared among many users if qsys blocks are used - they have good interconnect adapters hiding the whole complexity of different widths, burst length and even different versions of AvalonMM giving great flexibility to choose whatever you need. The MPFE is extremely effici...

Re: Minimig RTG possible?

It's kind of frustrating that pretty much alive Amiga community cannot find self-motivated HDL developer to perfect the Minimig. Seems, like you said, the Amiga scene is too dominated by the commercial side. I guess that it will eventually happen, and might be even from an outsider. I guess Mike wi...

Re: MidiLink 2.0 looking for testers. (no MIDI devices required)

By design, it's not supposed to reload the core at run-time. It must be loaded from bootloader and never change til power off. So, AXI/MPFE bridges work with respect this rule. There is no safe way to reload the core without power cycle or reset. Fortunately MPFE is not that fragile as AXI and usua...

Re: Preserving a floppy disk with a logic analyzer and a serial cable

I have modified my script to store a second revolution in the .scp file. Resulting image loads fine in Aufit, the HxC software and Steem SSE. Now I just have to find a floppy with "fuzzy" bits. ;) Nice! Weak bits aren't necessarily different across revolutions, although they do are differ...

Re: MidiLink 2.0 looking for testers. (no MIDI devices required)

I don't use AXI bridges. I see, I understood you were going to use them. They tend hang the whole system, especially if core is loaded through USB blaster. I don't have problems as long as I kill MiSTer before loading a core through USB blaster. There is a problem if MiSTer and the FPGA are not in ...

Re: MidiLink 2.0 looking for testers. (no MIDI devices required)

Actually buffer should be mmap from FPGA address space. But i didn't decide the address yet. Probably it will be after Scaler buffer. I will finish some feature in the MiSTer binary and will be back to Linux. If you will use the AXI bridges for MIDI, please make it optional. I am using the bridges ...

Re: Preserving a floppy disk with a logic analyzer and a serial cable

I have to see how this can be mapped to the scp file format. As far as I understand it always stores complete revolutions. Yes, you are right. If you want to store it as SCP then you can't use fractional revolutions. You would need to decide if it's worth to store two revolutions, use other formats...

Perhaps you could be the guy to finally make a successful copy of Crown of creation? :) czietz's method (and I have to insist, a very creative one :) ) can be used only to dump a disk. Write back is a little more complicated. Btw, Christian, you might want to store a little more than "just&quo...
