Re: Hatari version 1.5.0 has been released

A tried Falcon Hatari under Windows XP (where v 1.4 works very well) ant it starts not at all - I tried with couple TOS versions and some other different settings, but all what saw is black screen and not responding Hatari. Under Linux it is much better - I compiled it (with new UAE CPU) and it work...

Re: Create new and fresh original game disks

@ Mr. Vince : I have some questions regarding image file formats, their sizes , and DOCumentation what we can expect. What is typical size of proper image of some copy-protected DS 720-800K floppy, with let's say usual Rob Northen protection (what would be something like weakness in sector 6 on trac...

Re: Re:

It is a bit of a long story. The quick answer is that I still expect (have hopes) to release some Pasti stuff that I never released to the public, but probably not those tools that you reference (imaging tool for the Discovery Cartridge and Catweasel). The imaging tool as you know it, that I used t...

Re: PC Problems Forum

I don't think that it is really possible to say anything new and not known in this case of unreliable work of some SW. Only usual stuff: Virus check, Windows updating, reinstalal. If nothing helps must carry machine to specialist ... Maybe to run some system checking SW, I mean HW test in first place.

Re: Super TOS 2.06 Uk ???

You not listening what I write. There is hundert other things to care when write graphic SW with Windowses. As I said one is line skip. It is always easier to make code with fixed values than variable ones. So, people who had limited time and power, nerves had only one goal: to make it to work on ST...

Re: Create new and fresh original game disks

So how do you generate areas with no flux reversals or write dual-boot disks, e.g. Lethal Xcess, Monster Business or Starglider 2? ... I guess that it was for me . The answer is : I create not . I just pointed on possibility to write some protections with PC, and there stays that there is not much ...

Here is the result:
SimC800x600.png

Exactly as expected . I skipped res. check in program, so it started. But stucked right at title screen. Not only bad displaying, but mouse became dead, only producing some noise while moving .

Re: Create new and fresh original game disks

I doubt many games we looked at can be written with standard hardware. Some coders really knew what an ST can write and what not. As many PCs have the same or similar controller, this won't work on the digital level with standard hardware .... PC FDC controller is similar to Atari FDC, but we have ...

Re: Steem Source released

Hard disk drives can be disabled with few clicks in regular Steem settings. Pasti emulated ones too. Maybe you wanted to make it even easier ? In any case, fur sure that there are things which can be improved and customised. Maybe we should start new thread about what people wants to be implemented ...

Re: Super TOS 2.06 Uk ???

Bid, you should read some DOCs considering TOS, GEM ... For example Atari Compendium - available in PDF format. As I said, there is no any info in PRG/TOS header considering resolution(s) in which program can work. There is good reason why Sim City refuses to work in any other res. except ST low : i...

Re: Super TOS 2.06 Uk ???

Considering Desktop of TT and TOS 2.06 : they are practically same . There is quick res. change too in TOS 2.06. Alt +1-3 . It performs not soft reset btw. , just restarts AES and Desktop. In theory, you can update, improve any game. So, it is possible to do with SimCity. You can make it to work in ...

I said already I followed up by PM for reasons completely unrelated to technical issues. I am not hiding anything, I don't think I ever did. Re: Create new and fresh original game disks

... As for protected floppies in general: I agree that it's more comfortable using HDD installs today (the Amiga has the WHDLoad project for this), but since the originals are the origin, we - as preservationists - think they are worth being kept. Once you have them, you can do what you like. Pleas...

Re: Super TOS 2.06 Uk ???

Well, I think that you are right considering drawing in case of same bit-depth, 16 colors concrete. I guess that TT 16 color mode uses same bit-plane system as ST low res, so code should be just little more flexible - only to support variable horizontal resolution. It must be in code, regardless fro...

Re: New "higheSTcolor" mode better than Photochrome & Spectr

Looks really great. I thinkered little about making hard disk version, which could run longer animations even with 512K RAM only . Someone proposed it earlier for Photochrome images . Then I said that it is not possible due high transfer rate needed. Still, I say that it is possible with limited res...

Re: Super TOS 2.06 Uk ???

To proper work of some game with AES (examples: Deja Vu 1-2, Uninvited ) it must be started from proper res. And it is practically always ST low. Otherwise game will just refuse to work in most of cases. And it is not Desktop check, since no flags in executables which says what res it needs. Usuall,...

Re: TT dip switches

I added weeks ago small alu. heat on 68030 - there is not much space if you have 2MB ST RAM expansion. It is taken from dead PC motherboard's Southbridge.
Such coolers are usually pretty low, so good for TT .

Re: Super TOS 2.06 Uk ???

Considering running Sim City on TT (or any Atari, general) : you must start it from ST low res - game will refuse to run otherwise. It is not lazyness or caprice of programmers. Since it uses AES (Windows etc.) it must have proper initialised AES for resolution in which game works. In TOS no support...

Re: Super TOS 2.06 Uk ???

Yes, MFP means 68901 . In TT is 2 of them, second is responsible for SCSI mostly. I doing for myself notes about concrete cases of code for ST(E), which fails on TT and Falcon. Actually, it is not much long for now - about 10 situations. I still can not get about 10 games why stuck on TT and Falcon ...

I have only about 2 months experience with TT. It is little less compatible with ST SW than Falcon. I don't think that system SW is more compatible than games.
