Re: Dead Falcon - no boot / coloured screen only

It would be the 4 pin oscillator that has 32.000Mhz stamped on it, U37, right hand side, under the floppy, next to the DSP.

Re: Mega ST : Using it vertical style

I would make sure that the PSU is at the top to minimize internal heating, but other than that I don't see what harm it would do.

Re: [ebay] Custom black 1040 STF and keycap stickers for mods

I must ask, since I am leaning towards doing a paintjob on my yellowing atari rather than retobrite it, what kind of paint did you use? the plastic is kinda "fat", I am unsure if the paint will stick properly...

Any good advice?

Re: Falcon - SCSI external cable?

Well, it's kinda messy with early scsi, Apple, zip-drives and some others actually used DB25 (same as the parallell port) as scsi connector, and there were other more or less obvious connectors aswell. For me, however, the centronics 50 pin connector is SCSI-1, even though it was also commonly used ...

Re: Falcon - SCSI external cable?

microCosmos is ACSI only, the CosmosEx got both ACSI/SCSI. The connector is a 50-pin IDC connector, and you should have no problem finding an IDC50 to a standard external connector, such as the 50pin centronic. Like these: https://cs-electronics.com/50-pin-internal-scsi-cables/ Frm there it should b...

Re: Dead Falcon - no boot / coloured screen only

how can you get anything on screen if there is no RAM?! Oh, technically speaking , you always get something on the screen if the video circuit is working. Even though it is completely black or white. The image is however not consistent with a working ram controller/circuit. The databus got pull-up ...

Your problem seems very similar to this guys Falcon too: https://www.exxoshost.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=1446 Perhaps you could work together to fix them both. That guy gave up and sold it on ebay last month... Chandler... did you buy this? :D Anyway, the servicemanual suggest checking o...

Well, if RF is working (indicating that there's nothing wrong with the video circuit), and the monitor port was working before the move... before hunting for more... complicated faults... I'd bet that careless removal of the monitorcable broke the din-socket (much like the mouse/joystick port(s) eve...

Re: Recommended hardware tweaks/mods for an Atari STe

I'm fully aware of exxos' research on this. Replacing the CPU is about as successful as replacing the DMA, i.e. it mostly works. I have tested this in my own STE and got timing problems with two demos, which was suggested by the demo's author to be a floppy problem. So my STE with no DMA issue got ...

Re: Recommended hardware tweaks/mods for an Atari STe

Yes, the "faulty" dmas all seems to work fine on ST, and as those who has followed Exxos fine work with this knows, the problem can be solved by swapping the CPU for a HCmos version.

Anyway, the thread is around here somewhere...

Re: Recommended hardware tweaks/mods for an Atari STe

This thread is like reading a depressing story about a half-empty cup of tea... Don't assume all the possibly bad things possible before you have actually checked things out. There are extremely few STE's using SIPPs, and the bad dma-thing... well... it pops up every couple of years and every time w...

Interesting. I've never had to use supervisor mode on the ST before. Might as well add keyboard controls while I'm at it. The game can now be operated with SPACE and the WASD keys. I'm going to update the zip archives in this thread to version 1.0.2. There's probably a trap to accomplish that aswel...

Nice game and cute graphics! Works fine with EmuTOS and on STE & TT in addition to normal TOS and ST. Minor issues with the game: * Doesn't change resolution to required ST-low on startup, if it's something else * With 4MB or more ST-RAM, game crashes at startup to bus error at memory end (bus ...

Re: PC utility to manipulate ROM images

Only file required to run the program is the cartman.exe in /CartMan/bin/Release directory. all this already can be done out of the box with a combination of m68k-atari-mint-objcopy (comes with the gcc compiler toolchain) and dd (comes with every Linux distribution or MiNT). Of course, but does it ...

Re: CosmosEX 3.0

CosmosEx works as either an ACSI unit, or a SCSI unit. It's not a SCSI interface.

External SCSI HDDs are always in demand, the enclosure alone could probably sell for $30 or more, depending on looks, wear and tear.

Re: Mega ST FPU card

What version of sysinfo did you run? as I remember sysinfo should only be telling if the FPU is present or not, as there technically is no way to 'disable' it, either it is there or it's not. as for drivers, I don't remember there ever was any, just FPU-aware software, or sometimes FPU specific soft...
