Re: New Atari Legend font - Please help

Open sans. Google fonts can be loaded online and are not platform specific. You will get consistency accross devices like that. Also open sans has all chatacter sets. Roboto doesnt have greek iirc.

Just a quick question. This doesn't run the Atari ST core, right?

Re: A few gbe questions...

Hi, and welcome. Well, I can't speak for Lonny, but I am not sure that 1.71 is the latest version. I haven't had any problems running GBE on any of my systems so my first guess would be that you downloaded the coldfire executable. Try redownloading from the site. http://96-32-243-246.static.oxfr.ma....

Re: New program: "Serial Disk"

Hi, I am trying to use serial disk (windows 10 - atari megaste) but the system refuses to work. I get a busy bee on the atari. I suspect that serial disk is not using the proper serial port on the megaste and since there are no atari configuration options I can't change it. However the Mega has Seri...

Re: gcc 7.1 for the ST series

I don't really get it. Someone spends his time creating a tool for his own stuff and then releases it for anyone to use and people complain. Not because it's broken or anything, but because it's not done in the way they want it. I don't think ggn said anywhere that it's a replacement of anything. It...

That's was indeed neat. Imagine if Milan was like that. It would have surely been featured in a lot more magazine articles. That made me laugh. Thanks

Re: Slow down the Falcon for ST games

Well, it's not the cpu speed that has this effect. It's the 60Hz refresh rate. You could run it at a TV with 50Hz.

Re: FireBee revival

Well David Galvez had the right idea. Make GEM wrappers for open source applications. A python port would help as well. Add an applications category in demo parties or something silly like that. However most things are integration with cloud or web nowadays. Also we need a software repo and a softwa...

Re: FireBee revival

As much as I would have liked to be a FireBee owner I can't really afford it. However it's not really an issue of not having much support for the FireBee but an issue that our community is generally speaking less productive than others so the subset that is the firebee gets even less releases. I gue...

Just to let you know I installed Beekey on my laptop and so far I am very happy with it. How you made it look and work so good is beyond me, but I really liked it. My only problem was that there was no wifi support from the start, but that was easily fixed by using network manager. This is what I di...

Re: MINT: We don't make this easy do we?

Ha, I thought most people just did some CSS layout tweaks and used Wordpress. At least that's what the web dev guy I know does. But I agree, most web designers don't actually deal directly with html code these days. That's because they are graphic artists with no coding background gone web designer...

Re: MINT: We don't make this easy do we?

web designers are just designers so they design webpages... with content tools that drag & drop components to put together a web page. they do not code web page html any more. just like you go to subway and they put together a sandwich for you, they do not do the cooking. That is absolutely not...

Re: The game is on (can we make MiNT/TOS this pretty?)

Wait, what? That doesn't look anything like Gnome Shell. AmiDock has been around for a long long time, and it's just a Dock, like any other dock out there. Though to be fair, Gnome did try to take some interesting 'features' from the Amiga, like the Spatial Nautilus that everyone hated. Still hard ...

Re: The game is on (can we make MiNT/TOS this pretty?)

So, why would anyone make anything that looks like Gnome Shell is beyond me. That Amiga desktop is really coarse (if that's the correct term) and all the icons are huge. The usable screenspace is also minimised by all the stuff running on screen. Most of them you don't need anyway. It's no wonder th...

Re: Call for (not so technical) questions -- Atari's product manager 1991-96

Does he still own an atari machine? Did he think that 32 - 24 years later there would still be a fanbase? Were they hopeful that the falcon would take off or did they just release it? How was it like working at Atari back then? Did they use Ataris for their work? If so, what software did they use? O...

Re: Which direction retro computing goes ?

Well, to me it's more about the experience. You can have a similar experience when running a clone or an fpga recreation but not when using an emulator. With the emulator you can switch to the host OS any time, and you will do it. With the fpga you get a similar experience (as long as the compatibil...

Re: A good & working net browser?

I wish there was a good coder out there that could make a 16/256 colour netsurf happen. It would breath new life into our old machines. By making them insufferably slow? Don't get me wrong. I like Netsurf and it is probably fast compared to other current browsers but on my Firebee it is so slow I b...
