Re: PLATOTERM - solving the screen redraw problem, need input.

Yes, TOS routines for the serial port are terrible. You've done something right if you got it to work at even 9600 bauds but it is very likely it will fail in another machine without HSMODEM. As for the cookie jar, take a look at the Atari compendium documentation. http://www.yardley.cc/atari/compen...

Re: PLATOTERM - solving the screen redraw problem, need input.

Hard to believe Plato being a 70s application cannot be implemented on an ST that's with a decade of advancement. soo true Why? The way i understand it is that it's basically an emulator that has to run in a GEM window at a certain speed. I think that ignoring GEM is a better option though. After a...

And don't forget that when a game is worse on the Amiga it's a lazy port but if it's worse on the st, there was nothing the programmers could do.

Re: Porting SOTB to the Falcon

Yes it can. Hardware scrolling has nothing to do with the bandwidth. The only restriction is that you have to set the screen address to an even word, so for horizontal scrolling in TrueColor you can't scroll an odd number of pixels per VBL, i.e., 2 pixels per VBL are the minimum. Actually, even thi...

Re: Porting SOTB to the Falcon

The funny thing is that if i remember correctly the falcon can't do 1vbl horizontal scrolling in hi color. Not enough bandwidth.

At first I thought well, I want to be able to access the forum when I am on the atari, trying to code something and I need a quick reference. But, indeed it's better to have ssl.
(How hard would adding ssl to highwire be?)

Virtual Escape for your 512KB machine.
Odd stuff for your 1Mb machine
Fantasia for your MegaST
Sea of Colour for your STE
Falcon: Sonoluminzsenze (or however it's written), Underscore
Stacy: Monogatari

You've got the TT covered.

I am not talking about the goal of the st core, but the point of including so much content unrelated to the st in an st forum.

Also let's not forget that the main interest in ijor's core seems to be on how it can be used to improve other cores.
If the goal is to expose the ST to more people I think it failed

It looks really good and powerful so far. The problem with all these projects for old platforms is documentation, what are your plans for that?

How is it performance wise compared to natively written C code?

Re: Games fronted for ST

The thing that annoys me about our Atari systems is how if we want to run a nice OS like mint or magic, we can't boot games. Where as Amigas have a much more capable stock OS that games can be run from. If there was a game booter menu that could solve this problem then I think it would be worth it....

Mega STE VGA output

Hi,
This is what my MegaSTE outputs.

IMG_20181218_152233.jpg

Some thoughts:

The output from composite is somewhat flickery.
The VGA adapter fits too loose in the socket with a small tilt to the right. Is it possible that the socket is broken?
The capacitors seem just fine.

Any thoughts?

Hi, Anybody got a link on where to find new joysticks or joypads for the Atari ST ? I have found for instance https://www.amiga-shop.net/Amiga-Hardware/Amiga-Eingabegeraete/Competition-PRO-Retro-Joystick::694.html but I am rather interested by joypads, as the games I play at the moment (for ex. It uses 3 keys, a,b,c. So i guess a mega drive pad should be enough. But it couldnt just run on the mouse port with a two button joystick.

If you read the ejp faq there is actually a way but it is probably not supported by either cosmosex or r0x zero.
