Re: What's this Falcon board?

It can only be used with 1Mb or 4Mb in the normal RAM slot. It offers 4Mb or 8Mb of "alt-RAM". What happens if you have 14mb in the normal ram slot? The Falcon Magnum needs a driver to work. I tried what happen if 14MB and Magnum is installed. As long as the Magnum driver is not loaded th...

Re: C103414-001 Atari STFM board to 4 MB upgrade.

We used TMS444000dj-80 DRAM's, but any type of 1Mx4 SOJ DRAM's can be used as long as they are not faster than 80 ns. We tried 60 ns DRAM's, that didn't work. I made the same years ago with 60ns and 70ns RAMs and it worked. My 4MB board for ST ist assembled with 70ns chips and never seen any proble...

Re: STE BAD RAM (not bad simms)

So at this point I would suggest caution to anyone fitting 9 chip RAMs into their STE.. With RAM problems hinting towards DMA problems also, with so many people adding 4MB RAM into their machines, a "bad DMA" could simply be a red herring for bad RAM. Maybe it will fix the problem if the ...

Re: Atari Mega ST: Hardware and design differences with ST

Btw. in my mega ST, REV.I.1 , factory 1MB RAM, no lines, pads for more RAM chips, only empty space on board (big) there are no those 2 74LS244 chips, but resistors as in any ST . They must be present only in models with more RAM by factory. Of course. MCU has to drive eight (actually only 4 at a ti...

Re: St-fm cpu overclock

The only way is with a wire wrap PLCC socket, where the socket the blitter goes in, simply has longer legs, that way it can have a socket on top of the pcb, and the pcb can solder into the motherboard. I dont know if you can actually get those anymore, and if they will actually fit in the pcb holes...

Re: 14mb falcon memory card wanted

There are 2 different 14MB boards availiable for me. The "blue" version is using PS/2 Simms -> modification of shielding necessary. The "black" version is using chips soldered to the board -> no modification. Price: 40 Euro + shipping etc. I have parts and PCB for >10pcs in stock...

Re: Single Sided Drive on an STE - faulty or swapped?

I had a 520 STE myself (bought in Germany @ Schlichting Computer if anyone cares) but because I don't have the machine anymore I cannot tell what the sticker said for which country it was meant. It had german TOS and german manuals tho. And yes it was exactly the same as a 1040STE minus the RAM. I ...
