Curious what you mean? As in this question been asked too much? Or ‘protect me from that sh**show’?! Or just simply that it isn’t a ‘real’ Atari?

External Compact Flash Reader - Falcon

Does such a thing exist? Or is it just external SD readers and internal IDE CF adapters out there? Just want something I can plug in without changing the inner workings of my falcon.

Looking for an easy way to read my STBooks CF ‘hard drives, primarily so I can add transfer software to it.

New Atari VCS

Curious about how many people here have ordered one, and given its ability to load any operating system whether it could be easily turned into the next Atari desktop computer with MiNT etc?

I have one on order... delayed again!

Re: Reading an Atari Compact Flash on Mac/Windows

So I found this guide - very useful and contains everything (nearly) you could want to know... http://joo.kie.sk/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/Atari_HD_File_Sytem_Reference_Guide.pdf However, i still have a problem. I understand what it is now, just dont know why! I have two devices, ID0 and ID1. ID0 i...

Re: Reading an Atari Compact Flash on Mac/Windows

Hi So trying to get back to this now i have a long weekend! STBook been in bits for a month now! So I'm running plain TOS (a patched version of 2.06). I can't run MiNT or anything like that until i can transfer files across! I can partition this second CF to various sizes, but how to i get it to loa...

Re: Reading an Atari Compact Flash on Mac/Windows

Ok so I bought a new CF (transcend) and minor progress. It shows up in HDDRIVER (9) utility, on the second IDE slot (dual IDE/CF adapter) However I'm now totally confused how to actually partition it. I've read numerous guides but must be missing something I am running off a host CF that is bootable...

Re: Reading an Atari Compact Flash on Mac/Windows

Guessing the above can’t be a very common question! In case anyone else was looking I did find this site that seems to describe how to do all the formatting etc. Haven’t tried it yet, but made sense reading it... will see..! http://www.webring.org/l/rd?ring=atari;id=7;url=http%3A%2F%2Fatari%2E8bitch...

Re: Reading an Atari Compact Flash on Mac/Windows

Thanks for the reply. Not sure i'm up to the linux challenge (and mac OS X is debian anyway) and i'm rather worried about screwing up my main bootable CF/harddrive for the STBook. So i'm trying a different route. I've now got a second open IDE adapter in the STBook at IDE1. If i can format a second ...

Re: Reading an Atari Compact Flash on Mac/Windows

So finally managed to get the CF out of the STBook (absolute mission!), but i can't get it to read on either the Mac or Windows as in both the operating system takes over before Hatari or an image programme and says the CF isn't readable and needs to be formatted or ejected? Is this because its the ...

Thanks for the reply... One stupid question - how would I image it? And would the fact it has multiple partitions make any difference?

Reading an Atari Compact Flash on Mac/Windows

Hi I'm trying to get software onto my STBook. It is modded with an Atari bootable compact flash for a hard drive, but the serial port seems entirely dead - I cannot get STTrans to register with anything... But I could just take the CF out and plug it into a reader on my Mac / pc... But I've heard th...

Re: Modern multisync monitors?

Just chiming in, I got a Dell u2410 as Sety recommended - and WOW it is amazing. Best retro monitor anyone could ever want, and built like a tank! It's got every input you could ever need, vga, composite, component, hdmi, dvi, displayport. All in wonderful IPS colours. Sure it goes for good prices ...

Not sure if this is the latest thread about Racer (racer 2) but the search function keeps giving me timeouts so I'm just parking here...! Racer 2 is brilliant. Looks great, sounds great, really impressive. But is it just me that finds it absolutely impossible even on the easiest setting?! Took me ab...

Re: Bad Mood : Falcon030 'Doom'

One other thing - only the strafe keys from WSAD seem to work... I can only get forward and backward on the arrow keys?? Makes it kind of tricky to play trying to press shift with the arrow key to strafe (which also changes the mouse to strafe). Maybe it will work properly when I reload the unzipped...

Re: Bad Mood : Falcon030 'Doom'

So using something else (Unzip.ttp) other than STZip to unzip the BMC cache files seemed to do the trick! (Worth remembering for every other zip I use - no more STZip! Never knew that about it, but explains a lot of other battles with big zip files. Almost worth a sticky in its own right - wonder ho...

Re: Bad Mood : Falcon030 'Doom'

Thanks so much for the detailed speedy replies! I'm transferring via FTP from win 7 over serial link (slooooooow!!) as it's my only option right now. Using STZip too so maybe that's the issue. Will set it off transferring clean versions of all the files again (takes forever!) and try with a differen...

Re: Bad Mood : Falcon030 'Doom'

Thanks for the replies! So I have 14Mb and have turned off nearly every control panel. Running Thing on plain TOS (rather than my magic partition) but will try without that too. (Does it need every last KB of 14Mb?). V1.9 Wad with correct size too. And files from your site. Tried the BMC folder too ...

Re: Bad Mood : Falcon030 'Doom'

So I'm excited to play this but the initial build routine craps out at around 'lump' 27. Seems to do the same thing whether I'm running the base build with powerup2 accelerator off, or running the accelerator build with powerup2 on?? Any ideas? Using the correct ultimate doom wad 1.9 as described......

ST Trans

Hi So after battling trying to connect my ST Book to a PC / Mac through various emulators and USB adapters with no luck (and therefore assuming it was one of the above causing the issue) I've finally got my book next to my falcon. I'm trying to use STTrans on both machines to transfer data as it's t...

No issue with progressing past first level completion either under TOS. (Freezes on high score entry under Magic).

Re: Dune II / OpenDUNE for Falcon (and TT)

It works! There's still a small unused portion (about a 1/5th) of the screen at the bottom, but nothing worth worrying about - this is so much better! Thanks. (Under Magic that section had some video distortion in it, but under clean TOS it's just black) I noticed one other bug yesterday - after com...
