Re: HxC External floppy cable, works as A and B

On most STf and all STe there are jumpers on board to route the DS0 and DS1 signals to appropriate pins of external FDD connector. You mas use them, together with a DSx jumpers on the internal FDD. Yes, but I understand those jumpers are never populated. So you still need some minimum soldering and...

Re: External Disk Drive As Main Drive?

What 1024Mak and Dal have done is different (and confusing me). Mak's seems less work and less dangerous... What is the advantage of Dal's then? I tried to read http://www.atari-wiki.com/index.php/Drive_Select_Swap_Mod but in 3 browsers the page loads nothing (yet the Wiki index shows there is text ...

Re: HxC External floppy cable, works as A and B

That was what I thought could only be done by messing with some switch on the AY8912 chip? It depends on exactly which computer. But you need to swap the drive selection signals. In some cases it is just changing some straps. Oh that sounds less PITA... I have two STE's - both with CA4003290 boards...

Re: HxC External floppy cable, works as A and B

Sorry if I am being dumb but do you mean that firmware is irrelevant, as long as HXC manager is used then the drive gets selected as whatever I want (A or B) and the internal drive just acts as the "other" one? Exactly ! I'm not sure you are talking about the same thing. If you want to sw...

Re: HxC External floppy cable, works as A and B

I was able to get the cable to work without changing any straps inside my 1040STF. The GoTek/HxC works well as drive B and the internal floppy is still Drive A. The only little issue I have is that I have no way to update the 'slots' in the HxC. I have to open my 1040STF and plug the HxC into the d...

Re: USB keyboard/mouse interface

Nobox This is great if it allows USB keyboard and mouse.. Can I suggest some possible improvements/expansions? 1) If the mapping of USB keyboard to ST was stored as a text file it could be easily adapted for ANY other mappings. These could then easily be inserted without needing to recompile. 2) If ...

Re: HxC External floppy cable, works as A and B

Given there seem to be zero sources of these plugs for ST floppies with 14 pins... I wonder if some sort of bodge might be possible? If we know the correct pin sizes (??) , first we put some paper over the ST socket to make it easy to separate after, then we slot the pins into the ST socket with pre...

3 Bombs Help? Address Error

Plugged my working 4Mb STE into TV today and got continually 3 bombs and a slight buzzing noise on TV (might be unrelated). That means "Address Error". I searched here and tried the following all with no change 1) Removed and reseated Ram 2) Removed Ram and tried 2 of 4 chips (various comb...

There are many different thread types used throughout the world. However, most screws used in the developed countries in "the west" in the last 25 years conform to "standards" that are either international standards (the metric sizes), or former British or American "standar...

Troubleshooting 520 STM ram expansion

I bought a 520STM that was described as working but when I got it home I found was not. Opening it up and removing the 512k Ram expansion by disconnecting the Shifter adapter and replacing Shifter in its socket got the machine to boot. So I have a problem with the Ram expansion. But how can I troubl...

Re: TOS CHIPS what is hi or low ?

I know this is thread necro to extreme but this is the best place for my query... I have almost the exact same chips fitted in my 520STM which seems to be a 1.0 UK model. I want to upgrade to 6 (not 2) chip TOS Eproms (because I dont have pads to switch to 2 chip and dont want to have them on an ada...

Re: New board: MonSTer

EmuTOS is working fine on my STM. Have tried both 192kb (fc0000) and 256kb (e00000) versions. Joska, do you mean you have MONSTER working with EmuTOS on your STM? Was considering buying a TOS upgrade for a 520STM I got and maybe some other bits but if I can add Monster and get TOS, IDE, Ram etc for...

6 chip TOS

I have an ancient but functional 520 STM. Its got a (fault so removed) 512k Ram upgrade and 6 chip TOS 1.00 but with zero pads for upgrading to 2 chip TOS. Rather than make life difficult with bending pins and adding OR gates etc.. is there an easy guide I can pass to my friend-with-Eprom-burner to ...

Re: Atari st series computers conversion PC

Joska Would it be possible to insert the Teensy in the signal line (sorry, poor use of language) so that the ST keyboard still sends signals to the ST but if you DIDNT power the ST and plugged the USB connector to a PC it would become a USB keyboard only? It would be nice to have an ST that could be...

Whatever happened to this project? Great idea.. I want to include my STE in my KVM switcher so I can use my PC KB and Mouse with my STE and have the output on my multisync monitor..... Price sounded great. Technical failures? Or What?
