Re: Atari st series computers conversion PC

Very nice! That keyboard PCB is very impressive indeed. Why did you choose this instead of just converting the ST keyboard protocol to PS/2 using a microcontroller. I was thinking about to do a mod to use the STE keyboard on the PC, some kind of like that: http://symlink.dk/projects/c64key/ but mor...

Re: THE FLOPPY DRIVES MUST GO TOPIC !!! HOW TO GET RID OF IT ?

here you go simbo

http://dev-docs.atariforge.org/files/tos404.zip

Lonny has it on his website. It's not complete, but at least most of it is there and is well commented C code, with some asm in there as well.

hope that's of help.

Re: THE FLOPPY DRIVES MUST GO TOPIC !!! HOW TO GET RID OF IT ?

(partial!?) source code for TOS 2.07/4.0x does exist ... I've got it somewhere ... but hang on, isn't rebuilding an atari 'super' card just a little of overkill to replace a floppy mechanism!? I mean we were talking that 100euros was a bit steep to do even that and now we're building a new sparrow-l...

Re: THE FLOPPY DRIVES MUST GO TOPIC !!! HOW TO GET RID OF IT ?

I'm going off topic now but I would love to make the STe like a sort of baby Falcon, i.e. faster CPU, better audio maybe four 16bit tracks or eight could be possible if the bandwidth is there. That would leave graphics and networking although you can already do some reasonable stuff with a stock ST...

Re: THE FLOPPY DRIVES MUST GO TOPIC !!! HOW TO GET RID OF IT ?

I agree with rocket-dog, but it would be nice to say replace one of my SF314 internal mechanisms with one of those, as trying to find floppy disks these days is getting harder, and finding working, double sided disks is even more of a challenge ... and besides SD cards are practically given away now...

Re: Falcon RIP ??? I think so :(

I think it's the first step you need to check. I've a falcon who works only with a b/w sm124 monitor. Some line select is broken. Mark Hi Mark I think that this was a problem with incorrect NVRAM settings on mine at some stage as well, and I had to go in and blow away the NVRAM settings, using a mo...

Re: Spectre GCR - Mac Emulator

The cable should be the exact same one as an atari external floppy drive - this allows the Spectre to bypass the ST floppy controller iirc and drive it like real mac drive. you can buy new ones on eprey still.

Cheers

Re: 8031 assembler where who?

An 8031 is a chip similar to the 8052. What you've got there is most likely a cross/assembler to enable the compiling/disassembly of programs on the ST, much the same as you can get ones for 6502, z80, etc. You're not going to be able to run the compiled programs unless you have a 8031 emulator .......

Exactly what model of Sony monitor are you using? Lately I've seen a lot of 20" Sonys being sold with STs down here, so it's do-able. Not sure of the 1080 monitor, but Anemos has a nice schematic for a 1084 for the ST ... http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?p=513398 maybe that's of some help.

Re: RGB LCD Monitor : Recommendation 08/09

8O Now that is ambitious! Are you trying to replace the old screen with a new one so it's still portable of just trying to hook up an external screen to the STacy? If it's the first one, you could probably get away with an 'older' type of lcd, iirc the STacy is about a 12" display? (Never seen ...

Re: RGB LCD Monitor : Recommendation 08/09

Hey Alison (or whoever, I guess)... when you're looking for a replacement screen, which is preferred, the 16:9 aspect ratio, or 4:3? Or does it even matter to the STs? Thanks! My suggestion would be 4:3 as that is a square ratio whilst 16:9 is widescreen. Some older machines stretch the 4:3 aspect ...
