Personally I think Shadow of the Beast is an awful game, no matter which platform. It just happens to look good on the Amiga. It's been discussed 100's of times on this board, but yes, Beast ST could have been MUCH better. Not Amiga level obviously but much better than what we were given. Psygnosis ...

Excellent! I knew there was something a-miss with the intro pictures, I know the ST only has 8 shades of grey but the originals looked like they were only using 4 shades.

Of course, I did not think for a moment that you meant some MUST here. Indeed it is good candidate. Similar case is Addams Family, for instance. And probably dozen of others. I would like to see the scrolling sorted out as it's horrible in the ST version. Well, you are not alone with it. Already was proposed. Probably possible with blitter aid (STE HW scroll is useless when need to scroll only part of screen horizontally). Sad that game from 1993 still not used blitter....

Even the AGA machines have a 2MB limit for the blitter right? You'd probably be targeting 8bpp on those machines so the constraints may be even worse.

Yes but STe is also dealing with sprite display in hardware using the blitter. That is the point Frank B was making, the Amiga could not hold all the available sprite data in RAM, in an area that the Amiga blitter can access. It would need copied from fast -> chip before the blitter could do anythin...

Is it likely that a YM2203 would work as a YM2149 in an ST without any issues? If you just swapped them round without doing anything else?

They are both 40 pin, but I get the feeling it won't be that simple...

Yes it does run smoothly. But I seen a couple of drops in frame rate, so just wondered if it was going to be hard coded to 2 or 3 vbl to keep the game play consistent.

Really impressed Anima.

So the reduction to 16 colours doesn't seem bad for the sprites so far, will be interesting to see them with a background layer.

What frame rate are you targeting? I think I seen a couple of slow downs in the video, don't think anyone was expecting 60fps though :wink:

A 'good' Atari port of Final Fight...you keep teasing Anima haha!

It also proves a MUCH better version of Street Fighter 2 could be ported, given enough time and resource.

Very cool mate, just tried in Hatari. Frame rate is great for the number and size of the sprites :mrgreen:
