Re: The SECRET VIDEO MODE in an ST: 400 lines in COLOR (and with 72 Hz)!

For the record: this mode (1280x200x2@50Hz) works fine with an NEC1970NXp, centurion/ubeswitch tested. This even worked in the NewRez Desktop driver, but with the mono font, so it looked more like 1280x100, aka totally unsuable :/ Wait, what? Did you really use an ubeswitch with auto detection of m...

You're not using my ubeswitch are you? It won't work with this mode..

Great! Now I have to update the firmware in the ubeswitch to take this mode into account.

Re: Gerbers for TT?

Yeah, the new Amiga boards are mainly for salvaging components from dead boxes due to cap and battery leaks. Luckily Atari did not use sub-standard components. ,)

Re: My new, compact Atari -> VGA adapter.

Well I've been using it for a while now and Im happy with it but it's not perfect. :( First of all, there is no manual. I can't understand why sellers cannot make a small manual on paper and include it with the product. Well, there is. It's linked from the store. Paper is sooo 90's and who wants to...

Re: My new, compact Atari -> VGA adapter.

It should. If you hold the button for +2s it should save the current state as default at power on. It’ll always boot into lowres on reset.

Good thing I’ve fiddled with a Mega version then. :) Can probably make one for you as well, just need to order PCBs.

Re: My new, compact Atari -> VGA adapter.

Yep. Got the PCBs on Friday. Spent a few hours assembling 25 boards, ran out of solder paste. So production is stopped until Wednesday when I get more paste. Good news is that I had 0% failure rate on this batch, down from 10-15%.

Nah. Wating for a new revision. Ought to turn up next week. And after that one has been confirmed it’s another week for ordering a full batch plus components.

BTW, if you remove the attiny you’ll lose the functionality of switching in software.

Re: My new, compact Atari -> VGA adapter.

With led, the current is to big.

I think I mentioned just that. :)

However, if you run it in 1MHz, with some changes to the detection, you’d probably be able to use the LEDs.

Re: My new, compact Atari -> VGA adapter.

To elaborate on 3: The only thing that can mess with the image quality is the 3 ohm resistance in the V330 chip, and that would only darken the picture by a small fraction. The V330 chip has a maximum bandwidth of 200MHz, so no lag should be added by running the pixel data through it. H and V sync s...

Re: My new, compact Atari -> VGA adapter.

I’m working on a new revision, got new PCBs on Monday and realized I’ve done a brain fart and mixing some signals up. So I’ve fixed that and ordered new boards.

But I think Oliver will sell his version, right?

Re: My new, compact Atari -> VGA adapter.

Yep, 2s to store current state of the selectPin, value is the same as the ST; low mono, high color.

(Burn bootloader in Arduino IDE is setting the fuses, so we’ve got the terminology straight.)

Re: My new, compact Atari -> VGA adapter.

Hm. Try and up the bootWait to see if that’s the problem. Additionally, you’re using other components than I and running the ATTiny at 8MHz draws about 80% of the available power (~8 out of 10 mA) so I wouldn’t be too surprised if adding that (super cool) digital pot and two leds gives you stability...

Re: My new, compact Atari -> VGA adapter.

A bit of an announcement. I’ve decided on stop making my switches, mainly due to the fact that they do take too much of my time; I haven’t opened my DAW to make music for quite some while (mainly because my desk is full of switch components). I will however continue developing, there are some small ...
