Re: Value of a 2U Rackmount case for an ST = ?

the 'bars' on mine are just a bit of U shaped metal, spot welded to the case. I don't use that functionality on mine, I fitted blanking plates on the two 5.25 bays and set switches and the Eiffel display on them. I cut a separate hole in the side of the case for the floppy, where is normally is on a...

Re: Value of a 2U Rackmount case for an ST = ?

sounds like a 'keychange' case. I bough the last one they had about eight years ago, I paid £25 I think :)

Re: PM stuck in outbox

it's not stuck, it's just the odd way that the forum markes mesages as being seen.

it will stay in your outbox until the person you sent it to actually reads it, confusing I know, buyt thats how the messageing system works on this forum software.

I had this, and after lots of troubleshooting it turned out to be linked with the screensharing app I was using (Synergy)

Re: RTC module for MegaSTe MonSTer

But it would be nice to present a Y2K solution (with or without a battery backed add-on clock) for my musician friends who aren't going for a MonSTer board. Bill Penners 'AReal' software is what you need: areal37.zip Y2K fixed, reads plenty of older clocks I believe, and more modern ones too. I'm p...

Re: RTC module for MegaSTe MonSTer

This is my take on adding the needed resistors: http://www.atari-users.com/~gokmase/aicq/rtc_resistors_1.jpg (There wasn't much space, so had to use both sides of the board to make the resistors fit) http://www.atari-users.com/~gokmase/aicq/rtc_resistors_2.jpg Hopefully I got it right, at least not...

Re: RTC module for MegaSTe MonSTer

Is it correct to assume that the clock hardware isn't (usually) the source of the Y2K problems but just the keyboard clock limitation, so additional software is needed to translate and fix this for TOS to be able to use? to the best of my knowledge, yes. the Y2K issues are with much older RTC hardw...

Re: RTC module for MegaSTe MonSTer

yes, TOS is not 'aware' of RTC devices, so you need to have some way of 'reading' the time from the RTC, then 'writing' the time to the system on boot. the RTC.PRG does this :)

Re: RTC module for MegaSTe MonSTer

before i put the resistors in, the PRG from alan was unable to read the time, so the ST just defaulted to the factory value of 1987 as it would if there was no clock fitted.

I use LEDPanel too, it's very useful :)

Re: RTC module for MegaSTe MonSTer

just to confirm, this is how I have wired the resistors on my setup. I used 1k, as that was all I had at the time, but they seem to work and the clock and clock software are working.

Re: RTC module for MegaSTe MonSTer

I'm not using any kind of patched TOS, I'm just using the clock set PRG from Alan, which I have put ion the AUTO folder of my hard drive. What kind of Atari are you using? You mean the RTC software found on the MonSTer ordering/info page ? So you're saying that by putting it in the AUTO folder it d...

Re: RTC module for MegaSTe MonSTer

I used a DS1338 with my Monster board OK, but I did need to add two resistors, in order for it to read the time correctly: http://www.atari-forum.com/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=27627&hilit=rtc+dallas+monster&start=450#p307565 It seems the RTC I got off Ebay is identical to the DS1338 on your ...

it's the incbin staement at the bottom of the code, edit that to point to where the pic is on your C: drive

something like this:
