Re: Dead HD recovery (Mini S)

Drive just doesn't spin up or it shorts the PSU? Just nothing happens, the drive stays silent. So as said, either the drive is mechanically dead (although in this case I would have thought that it might have made *some* noise), or the controlling board is dead (in which case, it never sends any mes...

Re: Falcon Games

PS I'd post a picture but apparently the long standing bug at Atari Forum concerning file sizes is still in effect. It's supposed to be 500k or less but I can't load anything above 250k or so... :( PSS Fine. I'll post a link to another forum that will accept "huge" file sizes. :) https://...

Re: Dead HD recovery (Mini S)

If you mean to bypass it's own power supply and connect the drive itself to a PC power supply - yes, I had already tried that, with the same results - just no signs of life at all. Either the board is dead, or the motor is non functional, or possibly both. Replacing the motor requires a proper hard...

Re: Editing a message

Posts are editable for 6 hours, so plenty of time to fix typos / broken links / image attachments etc. Happy with the overall change as it stops threads becoming confusing, but can it be changed to at least be 24 hours, 6 hours seems a bit restrictive to me. When I do get on here, which isn't often...

Re: Editing a message

Now i'm really upset. You only made the change to "prevent" abuse, but for no actual reason. What makes you think that suddenly, after all the years where it worked, something like this will happen? Still, you are ignoring the voices of the users and just stick to an unwanted change. Sorr...

No, as the versioning/history feature is not yet available.

Re: Editing a message

We made the change to prevent abuse. While the amount of times its happened is small, the change was made to prevent it happening again. The ideal solution is to have shadow copies / versioning of posts, so that if something questionable happens, mods/admins would be able to see what edits had been ...

Re: [photos] Protar 40meg external hard drive

Hi spiny, I have got a similar Protar model here, named Profile II 80. It looks the same but has an additional SCSI out on the back. One thing I wonder, do you run it with a different driver than the Protar drivers? The device I have here boots up with a booting partition selector and without any v...

OK dug it out of storage, it looks like there are only two resistors that need linking to +5v: R134 and R133 Overview: IMG_20191008_142046648.jpg (this ST has a Monster card too) 5v supply: IMG_20191008_142108394.jpg R134 lifted IMG_20191008_142052653.jpg R133 lifted IMG_20191008_142103354.jpg hope ...

I saw this.. https://atari.joska.no/520stm/4Mb%20RAM%20upgrade%20for%20520ST.pdf and thats how I found the above resistors.. but I am not sure how I tie them to 5v now. James I ha...
