Re: Stonish.net - Atari ST Menu disks (Euroswap, FOFT, SFX...)

Thanks for the update Brume. Sounds like I really must check out this Legendary site that's currently all the rage... As we both have data integrity problems, could you possibly suggest some tips for recovery of problem disks? My last XP rig actually failed so I'll have a new floppy drive in the fir...

Re: My wife does not understand me ...

Good to know and very useful to have it all laid out. And with links; thank you! As an ST 'obsessive compulsive' I should know all this already of course...

Re: My wife does not understand me ...

Does the Satan work as a drive itself? I thought it just held disk images but I don't know much about it TBH.
My terrible translation was attempting to make up the German for "Fortnight kid", as in the uber-popular (modern) video game. Again, my apologies for doing that to your language! ;)

So that place is the hottest and hippest new gig in town all the er, kids are going crazy over; I see... Might have to check it out some more myself then before this square starts to feel too out of the loop. Before I do though, I came across your old demos the other day Mug so I'll definitely be ch...

Re: My wife does not understand me ...

Fantastic document; very professional! I'd say, what you need next is a harddrive solution. And to get your son on board. He's one of those vierzehn Tage kinder is he? Apologies for my bit of Google Translate. Thankfully your German to English translation is a lot more accurate!... P.S.: It's "...

Any news on Brume?

Does anyone know if he's OK? He's the webhost for the amazing http://www.stonish.net I've been meaning to ask around for a while now but I felt it was somewhat impertinent considering I don't know the guy personally. We've had some discussion about disks on his site thread here at AF and I sent him ...

Re: Frontier Elite poor frame rate - booster required!

I remembered Wing Commander Yet another on my rapidly expanding list of must play games that I never did back then. I swear I spend more time finding out about the games and getting them to run on modern hardware than getting down to the business of actually playing them. I think I must be a kind o...

Re: Sands of Egypt - Text Adventure

Hi. I've downloaded the (presumably) final version of the game via the itch launcher but I have a major problem. Every time I switch tasks away from the window and come back to Sands of Egypt the start screen shows again resetting back to the beginning of the game. That screen is also triggered in o...

Re: Trying to find the name of an adventure game

Sometimes this forum can be slow in the 2010s. Sorry about that! Anyway, if you read this whole thread you'll learn that you need an floppy drive controller on your motherboard. I'm doubting you have that considering the age of your OS and what with that particular hardware feature going the way of ...

Mods (from some forums) Hate Him. Here I go, reviving old threads again. 14 years old this time! Sometimes I get a little miserable that I should have been doing this years ago too but oh well, better late than never. I'm a little confused about this. Were the (2) disks ever found in the end? I've ...

Re: Trying to find the name of an adventure game

Yeah, a 720kb disk is just standard DOS DD formatted, which an ST can read. That was one of their selling points back in the day. To the "Disk Imager Supreme", we can't all be that good at it! ;) Nah, I'm not sure if it's the drive I'm using. It possibly needs cleaning? I need to do some m...

Re: Trying to find the name of an adventure game

easiest way is get an older PC/laptop that has a floppy drive, then write the disk image to a floppy. USB floppy drives won't work though, it needs to be a PC with a proper floppy drive. He says this but he hasn't been getting nowhere fast these last few nights like I have! ;D In an ideal world it ...

I've just dumped ST Action's Cheat Disk #1 that I found in my collection which contains a cheat poke for Ranarama from back in '89. Why do I think this cover-art has been stolen somewhere? Did Mandarin use it somewhere else, for a more productive progy or something?

Re: Stonish.net - Atari ST Menu disks (Euroswap, FOFT, SFX...)

Hi again Brume. I need your expert advice. Is it worth running a disk checker on the disks I have that have bad sectors and which progy do you recommend if so? I've found one on a disk but is there one in particular that is trusted to work? Don't want to completely lose anything of course. Thanks!

Re: Stonish.net - Atari ST Menu disks (Euroswap, FOFT, SFX...)

Unfortunately I can confirm that Cloud Kingdoms freezes on my 520. Is there another disk this crack is on to replace the affected files? Is Propack a big problem for everyone then? I could also have sworn I had this happen to me below on IK+ the other week but today it played absolutely fine. A dodg...

No problem at all; very happy to help. :) I'm going through my other disks to see if I've missed anything else now. So far- a large game for STEs called "The Poker Machine" and a disk that sounds like it's gone rusty over the many years... Will keep you all posted! As for the Hotline disk-...

A little treat

Unbeknownst to me, I've been sitting for years on four menus that aren't on the site. To be honest it's been a case of being put off by unreliable 30 year old hardware, a lack of work-space and the knowledge that it takes a fair amount of time to go through all those boxes of disks we've all hoarded...

There's also Phillip Lang's version 2(.3) of Magic Shadow Archiver. Version 1 is listed on the website. Under Disk Tools on the site, the URL for "Image Runner" is linking to an old version, almost 12 years since the updated v1.02 was released by Pera... I mean, c'mon; I've been linking to Floppy Image (the actual name of the app) in my sig for almost that long. http://www.atari.8bitc...

Re: Stonish.net - Atari ST Menu disks (Euroswap, FOFT, SFX...)

(from http://www.gingerbeardman.com/archive/ ) Archive of http://www.ewtoo.org/~matt/ At the end of 2007, an old web server died. It had been hosting some old sites that were created between 1996 and 2000. I managed to rescue 99% of stuff from archive.org - everything bar a few images really. So bas...
