Re: Looking for STE YM musics suggestions

npomarede: You need a tune but you prefer to use an existing one, that's it? I doubt any existing compo tunes uses plain YM along DMA samples, as this is a restrictions for demos. STE YM compos tunes usually involve YM soft-FX along DMA samples. Yes, I need a tune for a small intro. It's not that I...

Re: STFM to DVI/HDMI project

The famous "tv-snow" screen by The Carebears in SNYD1 does that on the first line after the top border (due to a slight mistake in the coding). Thanks. But I meant those that you say they do that intentionally. It was first discussed here with the shorter VBL by Mr.Nii http://atari-forum....

Re: Looking for STE YM musics suggestions

Just wondering... One of the new things on STE was DMA-sound... If I think on STE demo, I don't think on YM-Sound... It's like using a VGA card to make text mode demo. Like driving a car, pulled by horses. Not necessarily, DMA sound requires a lot of RAM if you want to play a music that last severa...

Re: Looking for STE YM musics suggestions

when the STE is finish playing a sampling don't it trigger an interrupt? could you just make the sampling buffer a size that fit the timing? i was thinking about the mono (int15) interrupt. The STE will raise an interrupt after playing a sample, but you can mask the interrupt so that it doesn't tri...

Re: Looking for STE YM musics suggestions

If you're looking for something never heard on the ST before what about looking at the Spectrum 128, or Amstrad for YM compatible music? Yes, maybe, although I think a music using the extra STE dma sounds channel would be nice (also, I don't know Spectrum/Amstrad composers that much) can u use time...

Looking for STE YM musics suggestions

Hi I'm looking for some suggestions of musics I could use for a small STE intro. Due to some limitation in this intro, I can't use any MFP timer, only YM sound every VBL, but DMA samples are possible. Any suggestion on some recent musics I could consider (maybe some releases from latest Outline or S...

Re: Test SW for YM sample playback, Hatari issues with ..

I didn't save the traces for Helter/Falcon, but IIRC it was using 1 movep.l for volA/volB followed by 1 movep.w for volC, so that's why volB is never written and sound is noisy.

Re: Test SW for YM sample playback, Hatari issues with ..

Anyway, I found the cause for it this week end, writing my own test program (so yes, you're not the only one spending time on this :) ), this is not an MFP issue or a direct YM emulation issue, it's a combination of several cases where original machines (TT or Falcon) had a cpu clock of 32 or 16 MH...

Re: Test SW for YM sample playback, Hatari issues with ..

Hi there's no will to hide this error or to not fix it or to set it to low priority ; believe it or not, but you're the first one to report it over the years. It just seems that not so many people use TT emulation, or at least that they don't use it to play games, so this problem went unnoticed and ...

It doesn't bother me if people mention bugs in thread about a release, trafic is rather low, so it's not that hard to follow bug reports this way compared to a dedicated section.

Re: Hatari 2.0.0 has been released

But it's the same problem : if your PC is not fast enough to emulate a falcon or TT in realtime, then it's not just DMA sound that will be bad, it will be all the sound in general (YM or DMA). If your PC is not fast enough, it won't be able to fill the OS sound buffer at a steady rate in real time, ...

Re: Hatari 2.0.0 has been released

OK, I said I would not answer but ... I never said we don't care about windows users, I said no one ever volunteered to maintain a windows version of Hatari, so Hatari for Windows comes "as is", no guarantee. But believe it or not, over the years many people used succesfully the Windows ve...

Steven Seagal wrote:Maybe the STOP is handled differently?

Yes, stop on 68020/68030 behaves "correcty", no test of S bit in the new SR (it was checked by Toni Willen on Amiga).
But even so, I think the cracked version made by Troed doesn't work on Falcon (the TOS is not supported I think)

Re: Hatari 2.0.0 has been released

OK, I will try make a shorter answer than your long ranting. I asked you if Starglider worked in different modes, because believe it or not, I have a life apart from Atari emulation, which I do a as a hobby, but not full time. It would take certainly 20 sec to test, except that when I asked you I wa...

Re: Hatari 2.0.0 has been released

More long talk, this time with little anger :D So, I did more tests, and got some surprises: Instead Windows 7 tried it in Win 8.1 - and 'miracle' - that SDL2 build worked. However, CPU load was not better, contrary, it was worse than SDL1 build. Another surprise: SDL1 build had less CPU load than ...

Re: Hatari 2.0.0 has been released

Yep, but an powerful CPU with max 1 core performance, as other cores doesn't help much in emulation now. I wonder if display part could be moved on the 2nd core, as it usually only reads/converts screen memory to display!? Yes, some rendering (video or sound) could be passed to another cpu core, bu...

Re: Hatari 2.0.0 has been released

I guess that the JIT engine from WinUAE might improve the performance on 68030 a lot! (regarding TT and Falcon) Ps. I know from experience by testing some demos for Amiga 68030/40 CPU in WinUAE... my PC is too slow to run those in cycle-exact mode, but with JIT engine enabled it runs pretty fine. C...

Re: Hatari 2.0.0 has been released

So, I decided to install Ubuntu 17 - and it was lucky idea - since there problems did not appear, and Hatari works very well. Audio playback is better than in Windows from that simple player. But Dungeon Master is actually worse. YM playback in game is same bad, while there is no ADMA sound in DM (...

I will check Dungeon Master too ; in the meatime, do you use the hatari 2.0 windows build from http://download.tuxfamily.org/hatari/2.0.0/ ? Hi, I tried your test program in TT mode with Hatari 2.0, and sound result is perfectly clear, similar to STE, I don't hear any problem or distortion or speedup. In my case, I used TT with TOS3.06, 1 MB RAM, CPU to 32 MHz + Cycle exact mode Just to be sure it's not a config problem, can you remove y...

Yes, it is 1 year from release now, and I went only now in dealing with Hatari 2.0.0's TT emulation. Just was too busy with other things, not only Atari related. So, as I see PMMU emulation is pretty good now, what is great improvement, especially for my game adaptations. Tried couple games, and th...

Re: Symbol listing in Hatari debugger?

The problem with Qt and/or Gtk is that is it mostly unix based. You will have a hard time to deliver a working Qt stack for Win32 and/or MacOS, not to speak about a development environment. Not sure about that, as far as I know FS-UAE users on Windows/OSX are quite happy with the result :) GTK migh...
