Re: Parallax Distorter 2

Well, the first issue that was fixed before, was that i modified hskip/modulo on the first line (syncline), where I do not open the right border (my mistake). Since the value is latched only when the display is active (as I read in your source code, thank you!), I think I was in a bit of a grey zon...

Re: Parallax Distorter 2

Thanks so much for testing! I have an idea (though I’m a bit surprised I coded it this way, and even more surprised that the emulators didn’t catch this). Hi if you find the difference when demos runs OK under Hatari but not on real STE and you have a fix for that, I would be interested to know wha...

Re: How to get Hatari working on High Sierra ? (OSX)

Hi
note that according to this commit in SDL sources https://hg.libsdl.org/SDL/rev/399cc39583cc , SDL 2.0.9 should have better support for various XBOX, PS4 and Nintendo controller.
Maybe this will also help supporting PS3 controllers in a more unified way.

Re: The SECRET VIDEO MODE in an ST: 400 lines in COLOR (and with 72 Hz)!

This is great !
Guess I will have to add this to Hatari, but this will require a few changes as video conversion routines don't expect this mix :)

Re: Mega STe differences ?

Note that it doesn't necessarily means that your drive has a slower settle time. This might depend, among other things, on the utility you used to write the ST/MSA image and how the sectors are physically laid out on the track. As troed wrote, I had the problem with the floppy he duplicated himself...

Re: Mega STe differences ?

That might be part of the problem. Settle delay is not enabled and the sector might not read correctly. It shouldn't be fatal if retry would be performed properly, but forcing read errors under emulation it seems there is some kind of bug at the retry logic. Troed? If step with verify is enabled, t...

Re: Mega STe differences ?

Sorry, this was not detailled enough. This is what happen when 2nd part of the demo is loaded using direct FDC accesses (1st part is loaded using TOS calls) : fdc type I seek dest_track=0x2 spinup=on verify=off steprate_ms=3 drive=0 tr=0x2 head_track=0x2 VBL=209 video_cyc=7492 324@14 pc=fc160a ... f...

Re: Mega STe differences ?

where mine was $13, missing the "verify" bit, I guess that might be an important bit I was missing :D Yeah that's the one I had to add to get Closure to load on Nicolas' drive. Seek with verify it's usually not needed. It might suggest some kind of timing problem. May be you were not wait...

Re: Using blitter for sound mixing

Hi yes, that's the idea :) working with a larger buffer (triple or even more) is a good alternative too, because you don't have to change the number of generated sample per VBL, you just have to stop generating samples at one point when the buffer is too much "in advance" (this is similar ...

Re: Using blitter for sound mixing

Well, that's the problem when you want to play continuous samples with dma audio : you can't base your numbers on 50 VBL, because in fact a PAL STF/STE has 50.0527 VBL per second :) Here's why : base cpu clock is 8021247 Hz and we know one VBL is always 160256 cycles when shifter is set to 50 Hz. If...

Re: Using blitter for sound mixing

About quality of pre-transpose + blitter mixing, there is a way to check : if you run BLSplay in test mode (add -test to command line),it will dump the generated sample into a file instead of playing with DMA sound. This file will be generated into .\_logs\ASM\ or .\_logs\C\ or .\_logs\PC\ accordin...

Re: Using blitter for sound mixing

About using loop mode instead of play once : for sure it would be cleaner technically speaking but I am not a fan of requiring a second step to run the routine during the VBL because this routine allows to have full remaining time for graphic effects, or blitting without sharing bus, or stable inte...

Re: Using blitter for sound mixing

Thank you for your tests and detailled answer :) I have tried to figure out where the clicks can come from. I have the feeling that some appear when the sample is retriggered at each new note (sample is retriggered without any smoothing). On Facebook, Troed has also talked about usual clicks on STe...

Re: Using blitter for sound mixing

Sorry I did not find the time to test on my STe. On the current version of BLSplay, you can toggle voices on / off with keys 5 to 8 (not the numpad) I tried 1 to 4, but didn't think to try 5 to 8 :) With only voice A playing, the result is the same in both cases (wait for display on or off). The cl...

Re: Using blitter for sound mixing

Hi I tried quickie.bls on my STe, and I don't hear any difference when toggling wait for display, sound remains similar. But this doesn't mean it's correct, it's just hard to spot sound quality issue on my old crt monitor, especially because the click are easier to notice on the bassline, but the ot...

Re: Using blitter for sound mixing

Hi not really related to the "click" issue, but looking at the code on github, it seems you inverted the meaning of "waitfordisplay" : if waitfordsiplay is true, you call BLSupdate(), else (waitfordisplay is false), you wait for display to start by checking that video counter inc...

Here's an example under Opera linux, without restarting anything (only thing I did was to close atari-forum tab, then reopen it later) When reopening a new tab, atari-forum asks me to log again. Re: Login time limit

I would check the PC for any special clean-up tools (like CCleaner or similar) or settings in the browser to clean up after use. In my case, this is under Linux, no need for such clean-up tools, and this happens sometimes during the same session, ie without even restarting the PC or exiting the bro...

Re: Login time limit

Please, let's not go off-topic, this is about "remember me" option behaviour on atari-forum.com.
What some users reported with the "remember me" option has nothing to do with the state of internet and whether you're being monitor or not.

Note that Opera is based on chrome engine, so maybe the common point is chrome ; but still it doesn't tell why this behaviour is so frequent only with atari-forum in our cases.

I have this problem too. If I click "remember me" it will sometimes remember for a few hours, but randomly logs out. If I don't click it, I last only 10-20 minutes. My cookies are cleared when the browser closed, but not cleared when open. I have the exact same behaviour. But I wonder if ...

Re: Hatari 2.1.0 has been released

Also, I have a question regarding the Falcon emulation of Hatari. If I remember correctly Hatari does not fully support all the features of the Videl of the Falcon030. Pleae excuse me if I'm mistaken. If I configure the Videl with a refresh rate to something like 55Hz, will Hatari respect that? I d...
