Troll is the most up-to-date mail client now. Yes, it's GUI is a bit peculiar but works very well when you figure it out.

When desoldering chips that you're not going to reuse you first cut them up with pliers so you can desolder and remove each leg individually. Much easier than removing the complete chip, and much smaller risk to damage the PCB.

Re: CT60 + CTEX + ScreenEye review & experiments

Good point. And an even bigger problem is that it lifts the CT atleast 10mm, which - as you've already pointed out - makes it difficult to fit the fan inside a stock case.

To me it looks like the CTEX was mainly designed to create a through-port for the expansion port.

Re: CT60 + CTEX + ScreenEye review & experiments

There are solutions like this one: https://mnpctech.com/case-mods-gaming-p ... board.html I could be wrong here, but wouldn't that adapter be pointing the wrong way on a CT60? To me it looks like it will point the ATX socket towards the SIMM-slot. This is how I solved the "PicoPSU too tall to ...

Re: Falcon: Painters or converters that save in raw format

May be a lowly suggestion :) One of two basic programs I ever wrote was to copy pixel by pixel an ST screen display and flip it for printing hot iron prints. Writing a converter is an option, yes. But with the popularity of the Falcon in the scene community I would be surprised if such a tool hasn'...

Thanks mikro, I just checked out Escape Paint and it also has a 100% RAW format, but it seems like Escape Paint only works with truecolour graphics. I should have mentioned that I need to work with 8-bit images too :)

Re: SCSI2SD for TT help configuring!

IIRC there is a keyword in Magix config file that you edit for vfat, look for something like the #vfat section and add "drives=<drive alphabet>". That is for enabling the VFAT extension, not to select between FAT16 and FAT32. That is done when partitioning/formatting. You need to specify ...

Re: TT Hi res in colour?

Talking pure mono, the needed hardware would be pretty simple. A small CPLD with a SRAM for the framebuffer, simple resistor output "DAC" for video output You don't really need much more than a CLPD or FPGA and some RAM to make a proper graphics card with much better performance. E.g. for...

I have a similar experience with my Firebee, where 1920x1080 does not work on most (*all* except one actually) of my monitors. The problem in that case is wrong sync polarity. I doubt that is the case here, but I would not be surprised if there was a compatibility-issue with the SV's 1920x1080 and y...

Come on, that can be done better ;) Definitely :) you don't need to set up a stack, the OS already does that. You are right. I'm running an Atari screen resolution of 1536x896 on a 1600x900 display. In both windowed and fullscreen mode the GEM mouse moves many times faster than the X mouse wh...

Sigh. Mikro was faster :) Can't be that difficult to write a simple utitlity like that. Here's my try I wrote one too, but it didn't work. Could not figure out why. So I tested both your and Mikro's tools and they both fail too, creating empty files. Then I noticed a message from Hatari - "GEM...

It is still useful to compare different emulators on the same machine. And also for developers, to compare different versions of the same emulator.
