Re: log over screen

I don't think. You are probably right, these messages seems to come from nfs.xfs itself, and are independent of debug level. I'm currently not using NFS myself so I have not noticed it. If these messages can't be supressed by lowering the debug level you should report this on the MiNT-list. There i...

Re: Atari Falcon IDE to CF

So, what could be bothering the falcon from booting with just the adapter plugged in? Only speculating as I have not checked the actual schematics, but maybe the master/slave jumper on the adapter fools TOS into thinking that there's a device present. CF-cards can be tricky on the Falcon, a lot of ...

Looks like you are using a debug kernel. Turn down debug level from the MiNT boot menu.

Test the CT in another Falcon if possible. If you don't have access to another Falcon I suggest to get in touch with Willy, he should be able to test and if necessary fix your CT.

Re: N_AES030.SYS missing

I haven't used N.AES for more than 10 years and have forgotten most about it. But IIRC all it's files should be in c:\n_aes\, check that this directory actually exists. Also, I never used the installer when installing N.AES back then, as I started with 1.0 which did not (again, IIRC!) have an instal...

As a general rule you should not use BIOS functions when writing a GEMDOS program.

Not tested by me, but I believe you can use Crawin()/Crawio() for character input/output.

Re: General Upgrade Advice

My STE's have very brittle cases, from what I've read about the peroxide treatment this can potentially make it even worse. So personally I would stay away from retr0brighting.

Re: General Upgrade Advice

1) The floppy drive is totally knackered, literally dropping apart so I'm looking at a Gotek drive. Now I have looked on eBay and seen several for sale at wide ranging prices, is there anything specific I should be looking at? Yes, you need to update the Gotek's firmware with HxC or FlashFloppy. An...

Is your MiST set up as an STE like MasterOfGizmo advised you? If not, you want TOS 1.04, not 1.6.

i have a falcon with a dead cpu (someone tried to insert a speeder an ripped some pins apart. Sounds like someone has attempted to install an Afterburner or Mighty Sonic. Can you post some good, high-resolution pictures of the CPU? It might be fixable. A friend of mine (goev on this forum) broke a ...

Re: PLATOTerm rewrite using GODLIB

Are you keeping it compiling also with GCC? That has much better error checking than Pure-C which is sometimes very useful. But Pure C is the only C-compiler with a decent debugger. Being able to step through source-code with the generated assembler showing at the same time beats every other debugg...

In that case I would recommend NVDI 4, at least on the Falcon.

Re: How to install MiNT?

If installing MiNT for the first time I probably don't have a filesystem capable of long-filenames. Yes, it's unfortunate that MiNT is using long filenames for files that are supposed to be located on the boot partition. I reported this quite some time ago, maybe it has been fixed. However, it does...

But I HATE TTPs. Hey, we got mouse support from the beginning in '85. Why fall back to ancient command lines... To be able to unpack archives created after 1998? Do not use ST-Zip to unpack modern archives. It will only cause problems. You can use one of the GEM frontends for ttp-packers, th...

Re: How to install MiNT?

I tried it under Hatari (maybe I need a real Falcon for it to work?) Not if Hatari emulates a real Falcon. In that case MiNT would never know the difference. I set it up to be 16Mhz 68030 with 14Mb RAM. Put VanillaMint on a HD floppy image and used an empty folder as HD. MiNT does not work from Hat...

You did not follow the instructions. If you did, it would have worked. VanillaMiNT was developed on exactly the same hardware as you use, a stock Falcon030.
Please read the instructions closely and try again.

Re: How to install MiNT?

From what I read this was supposed to be easy but I couldn't get anywere, even after several hours or trying. I can't imagine this was the stuff Atari wanted people to use for the Falcon. Installing MultiTOS (Atari's MiNT-"distro") was a lot easier than installing the current official MiN...
