Re: There are tons of BEST of threads, how about the WORST ST games?

I guess there must be something wrong with me - I love Steven Seagal's movies and Chopper X is on my top 10 list of ST games :D

Re: Mega ST keyboard and 1040 ST

But today i found the SmallyMouse2 : http://www.waitingforfriday.com/?p=827 Completely open. If it works I can easily add to my project. This has the exact same limitations as all the other adapters that use the Atari mouseport. It's not something that can be solved by an adapter, it's a limitation...

Re: There are tons of BEST of threads, how about the WORST ST games?

Everyone likes to talk about the best ST classic games, but no-one ever mentions the ones to avoid. That's because we only remember the games we like, not the ones we didn't like :) I can list a few games that disappointed me though. Xenon 2 in particular, that was a very disappointing game. Xenon ...

Re: Mega ST keyboard and 1040 ST

Actually, there is already such solutions. Like Ry´s MK-II. Yes, I'm aware of these. I've made one myself as well :) However, they depend on the Atari mouseport which has limited resolution. Also, you can't support things like scrollwheels or third button, and you can't assign keys to joypad button...

I'm afraid I don't have a 354 myself. My experiences comes from replacing the drive in a friend's 354 last summer.

Re: Mega ST keyboard and 1040 ST

On the contrary, it's of great interest. I'm just suggesting another solution for the controller. Reusing the original controller is a missed opportunity IMO. Unless you plan on creating a mouse replacement as well of course. Btw I don't suggest to connect a USB keyboard to the ST. I suggest support...

Re: 520ST External Floppy only

So finally I did get it working. Evidently all that was necessary was the correct files for the ST. That's interesting. Sounds like the Gotek is more forgiving than real drives then :) Does anyone know why there is such a complex circuit on the PCB of some SF354? I don't *know*, but my theory is th...

Re: Mega ST keyboard and 1040 ST

2) My first idea is created complete keyboard with MCU like AVR, but Greenious has suggested to use the original MCU, for me is very good idea, it's very simple solution, "No need to reinvent the wheel", im not search to create new keyboard just update. Yes, that is a good idea if you wan...

Correct, that's the one. The first one you refer to looks like the PCB in my 314.

Re: 520ST External Floppy only

The 354 does not work with double-sided drives. Been there, done that :) It has some sort of controller on it's PCB that you probably have to disable/bypass.

Yes, but it complicates the circuit. For a one-off keyboard I'd rather spend a few $$ more on a microcontroller with more IO pins.

Re: SCSI2SD V5.06b and MegaSte instability - blocks and sectors

1GB is nothing today. Sorry, but you don't live in year 2017. 1Gb is nothing on a PC, or even a Falcon. But on an ST? Yes, if you use your ST to stream videos from SD-cards then 1Gb is too little. However, I believe there's only one person in the world who does that. You can probably put two or thr...

Re: SCSI2SD V5.06b and MegaSte instability - blocks and sectors

But more likely it is just some kind of HW incompatibility between Mega STE internal adapter and SCSI2SD adapter. I'm using a SCSI2SD with such an adapter myself, and it is very reliable. My SCSI2SD is not terminated. However, there are several revisions of both the hardware and firmware, I also ha...

Re: Mega ST keyboard and 1040 ST

Joska, Does your code run on a Teensy-LC ? It most likely will, with some minor modifications. However, the keyboard matrix use 27-28 pins (depending on implementation) if connected directly to the microcontroller, and then you need some pins (serial, SPI) to attach it to the ST and a USB host card...

Re: Mega ST keyboard and 1040 ST

I see. Interesting project :) So what you you need to do is to create a keyboard matrix and connect this to a microcontroller that acts as an IKBD keyboard. I have already done this using a Teensy microcontroller, PM me if you're interested in the source code. Btw Atari's documentation of the IKBD p...

Re: Atari Falcon advice

A quick question ... does the Falcon read PC formatted 720k floppys or 1.44mb formatted one's? It reads both. I've formatted a 720k floppy on the PC and put some Atari stuff on it but I get a read error on thew Falcon ... the Falcon formats and reads floppys OK Sounds like one or both of your flopp...

Re: Atari Falcon advice

I had some issues installing Magic on my Falcon. Some weird German error messages during the boot sequence(not always). At first I thought it had to do with hw or hd driver/cf card compatibility...I really can't tell. You're not alone. MagiC was never stable on my Falcon either, even if the exact s...

Re: Atari Falcon advice

MagiC is faster and much smoother than plain TOS - my subjective felling. No, not your subjective feeling. MagiC also includes a much faster VDI than TOS, which is why MagiC is faster than plain TOS. However, once you add NVDI to the equation MagiC is actually slower than TOS. And much faster than ...

Yes, MiNT is slower than TOS but that also applies to MagiC ;) MultiTOS was slow, MiNT has never been slow.

Rx on computer receives data from the keyboard.

7812.5 may seem odd, but is easy to derive from the system clock (16MHz / 2048).

Keyboard you mean? Same on all ST/TT/Falcon keyboards - 7812.5 baud, 8 bits, 1 stopbit, no parity.

I believe these are only present on the Falcon, not the STE/ST. I have no clue what they do, but I know you can safely ignore them when connecting an external keyboard.
