Re: GEMDOS on Apple Lisa

You should port EmuTOS on Lisa... and add support for Lisa external harddisk... Well, I already considered that... Very possible to load EmuTOS from floppy on Lisa, as it haves enough RAM :) One would just have to recompile EmuTOS for non-Atari hardware, and write a floppy bootloader for Lisa. And ...

Re: EmuTOS Cartridge?

Look at the readme inside emutos-cartridge-*.zip. It is a special EmuTOS version, as a 128K diagnostic cartridge for the ST ROM-port. Due to size limitation, it does not contain AES/Desktop, only EmuCON command-line interpreter. But that's enough to run textmode TOS programs, or AUTO games, and even...

Re: Bash on TOS

If I can figure out the right way to bind CTRL I can at least get nano working, which would be neat. I’ve tried TERM=st52, vt52, and Geneva. I'm not sure to understand the issue with Ctrl key. Ctrl is a dead key, it can't be used alone (at least with TOS/MiNT functions). Maybe you have trouble with...

Re: Bash on TOS

I also found some recently-ported tools to MiNT over here that claim to also work with TOS through MiNTlib. That's my page. Indeed, that software also run on plain TOS, because it is compiled with MiNTLib. MiNTLib is smart enough to use MiNT features if available, or fall back to TOS features other...

Re: Bash on TOS

Yes, bash can run on TOS, but due to the lack of fork() you can't do anything with it. It only makes sense with FreeMiNT. As an alternative, if you need a simple shell for TOS, you can give a try to EmuCON. It is shipped with EmuTOS, but it is actually a small TOS program which can run on any versio...

Re: Bad Apple by Fenarinarsa (Atari STe demo) !!!!!

Okay, here's the monochrome version. Very good! However, I prefer the color version, because that one is not dithered. Normally, monochrome means hi-res, so sharper borders. But dithering kills that hi-res effect, due to fuzzy borders. IMHO the low-res version looks better. Maybe it would be worth ...

Re: EmuTOS 0.9.9

Do I need to repeat already said here - that there is return value of Ikbdsys, and it makes pretty much sense ? - EmuTOS ikbdsys does not return anything meaningful, because it considers this is not necessary to be compatible with TOS. - AtariZoll's game adaptations expect that ikbdsys returns a ne...

Re: EmuTOS 0.9.9

And there is no word in any DOC that this needs to be used this way. I wonder if the designer of that joyvec interface deliberately put an odd pointer into a0, or if it is pure accident. BTW, as we are supposed to speak about EmuTOS in this thread: EmuTOS supports the joyvec vector. It is especiall...

Ok, the whole issue is about ikbdsys implementation. There are no parameters, as that callback directly reads data from the ACIA.
Where do you see that it should return a value?

Re: EmuTOS 0.9.9

You should look closer. Kbdvbase() + 32 is the address of the ikbdsys vector, not statvec. And that one does indeed return a value. Oh, well spotted! I couldn't have imagined that the initial code was wrong that way. So the whole analysis in this thread is wrong. To be completely restarted from scr...

Well, even if it does not fit on a single floppy, that's really good stuff :D I don't remember having seen anything similar on STe before. When Falcon was released, a major feature was audio recording "direct to disk". You actually managed to read a video "direct from disk" on ST...

On the other hand, 256k versions (single language) and 512k version (multi-language) are full-featured. It seems th...

Unfortunately I was not able to start 3.7 in Ubuntu - it says that file is not executable, although properties say that it is ???? Confused. I recently hit the same issue on latest Ubuntu, and I finally got it working. Key point is that Steem binaries are 32-bit, and your system is 64-bit. Hence &q...
