Re: gcc 7.1 for the ST series

(sorry to be out of topic) Oh, I guess Vincent's Repo isn't updated with GCC7 yet then? Not yet. I will integrate other people's efforts on m68k-atari-mint GCC 7 when it's mature. Currently I only provide GCC 4.6.4, that one has been stable for years. Granted last time I tried compiling something (Q...

Re: gcc 7.1 for the ST series

What a mess here! I (Vincent Rivière) just want to say that I welcome the GCC brown edition. It is a different approach than the FreeMiNT one. And different visions of the same object lead to better understanding. - FreeMiNT approach is the native one. Port GCC to a new operating system. Patch the l...

Great work!
Many thanks to Michael960 to have reported the bug, and to czietz for his great investigation and fix

Re: Tar.ttp

Is there a Coldfire version of the tar.ttp that works better or is there another solution? You can always find a tar binary for ColdFire there . Download tar-*-bin-mintv4e*.tar.bz2, extract usr/bin/tar and rename it to tar.ttp. But I fear it will not work better than yours. You may have a corrupted...

Re: gcc 7.1 for the ST series

Maybe you can team up with Vincent Riviere? Like I said above, packaging can be quite complex and time consuming. I really wouldn't dare asking Vincent to devote what I perceive would be a good chunk of his spare time for this. Well, GCC Brown Edition and m68k-atari-mint-gcc are different variants....

Re: 1040STF with Flash EEPROM upgrade crashes (random number of bombs) when running any program

Many thanks Michael960 for your interest in EmuTOS, and czietz for helping debugging that! Of course EmuTOS is supposed to start fine in every case, including cold boot. It works fine with emulators, and has worked fine in the past on real hardware. Of course, real hardware is the most important tar...

Re: Quake 2 on Falcon030

Great! And how is it speed-wise? Is it fast enough to be playable? Sure it is playable on the FireBee, at max FPS! I never got more than 36 FPS on any system, so I think Doom itself imposes that limit. I don't remember if there's a CF version of PmDoom but I suppose not? Sure there is one! Get in o...

Solution is easy: just cast the result of sizeof to int.

Code: Select all

printf("size of char : %d\n", (int)sizeof(char));

Re: EmuTOS 0.9.8

I wonder whether EmuTOS will eventually cover a larger number of the m68k machines simulated by MiST (MachinTos, Sinclair QL)? :-) Sure, it COULD! As it worked fine on Amiga and ColdFire Evaluation Boards. But the case of Amiga was lucky: it was possible to display something because the Amiga hardw...

Same happens with TOS 1.62. So this is not related to the ROM.

Re: VanillaMiNT has finally been updated

So basically you have to compile for 68000 if you want to create binaries for FPU-less Falcons using gcc? Yes. Things were like that in my early GCC 4 patches. At that time I didn't know that FPU-less Falcons were existing. This didn't seem to be a problem for anyone. But now I consider this choice...

Re: VanillaMiNT has finally been updated

There seems to be something very weird happening with mint.cnf parsing. Depending on how much comment or echo lines there are after INIT= line, MiNT either parses, or doesn't parse the INIT line. Yes, this has been recently discussed on the MiNT Mailing List. MiNT has fun when loading CNF files by ...

Re: VanillaMiNT has finally been updated

Holy crap! I've been using gcc4 for how long, 10 years? And I would bet anything that -m68030 is equivalent to -m68020-60 when it comes to libc path and now I see it is not! :) You are right! I wrote a mistake! (time to sleep) In GCC 4 patch, I willingly configured -m68030 as an alias for -m68020-6...

Re: VanillaMiNT has finally been updated

Standard GCC 4 settings: -m68020-60 requires FPU (-mhard-float is implied) -m68030 does not require FPU (-msoft-float is implied) EDIT: THIS IS WRONG And m68k-atari-mint-gcc follows this standard. The MiNTLib startup code checks the _FPU cookie. If compiled for FPU (even if the program doesn't actua...

Re: VanillaMiNT has finally been updated

I'm going to go for another solution - compile everything except the kernel itself for 020-060. That way it would work in both 030 and 060 mode on the CT60 by just booting the correct kernel. Maybe not a good idea. Remember that currently, executables (such as xaloader.prg) compiled with -m68020-60...

An eventual VanillaMiNT for Amiga would also be welcome :)
As official FreeMiNT binaries work well on Amiga without any change, that should be easy.
