Re: Keyboard controller

There was a discussion in this thread about different keyboard schematics/implementations and ROM dumps which corresponded to them -- even a dump from a 520+ -- but all dumps were, from memory, identical.

Re: Drive not detected

You might need to mod the drive select for it to work ? I haven't needed to do anything like this before? The drive is not from an Atari, so should be configured for standard PC-compatible use. What are you powering this with? An external supply taken from a hard-disk caddy. I used it with other di...

Drive not detected

I'm having problems using SCP with a "brand new" (meaning 2007 issue, unused) Sony MFP-920-Z drive. The SCP software doesn't detect it, although when the program starts up the drive is activated (i.e. I hear the head move / drive spin). I've not had problems with other drives. Any idea wha...

Re: List of difficult to copy disks

What brand/model of disk drive are you using? Currently I'm imaging using a Mitsubishi MF355F from 1999. Its actually a very solid drive, but only steps up to track 81 reliably before hitting end-stop, so can't manage track 82. I've also got a stash of Sony MPF920 drives, but I'm keeping these for ...

Re: List of difficult to copy disks

According to the HxC software, your disk is probably completely dead... Even though it is strange because unusually low number of transitions. Only NFA can generate this kind of low count. Unformated would produce much more "noise" ??? It is reasonable to assume, then, that since the disk...

Re: List of difficult to copy disks

Well I definitely keep everything clean - I even clean the disk surface with IPA. The disks are (almost) certainly Atari disks, but not games disks, just personal ones. SCP/Aufit is a wonderful combination for getting old data of disks that are falling apart not just for preserving games. I suppose ...

Re: List of difficult to copy disks

Jim, while you're looking into possible bugs, I've noticed an odd behaviour with the latest software/firmware. When imaging certain disks, not all the tracks are transferred to file -- at least, since I haven't looked into the file format itself, the tracks don't all appear inside Aufit and the file...

Did you try the download on that website? According to what's written there, it contains the patched English help files... (haven't checked myself).

Re: List of difficult to copy disks

The internal DPLL in Aufit can decode DD or HD (I have run some test). Yes, the DPLL works very well :D - even with damaged HD disks. Hopefully with the up-and-coming HD flag in the SCP file, Aufit can automatically switch modes. However as far as I remember in current version HD is not supported. ...

Re: List of difficult to copy disks

This is my rationale. Here is the outcome of an HD disk where the "emulation" thinks it is a double density disk: 1.gif And here is the outcome when it knows that it is an HD disk: 2.gif Apart from the odd glitch on track 41 (it seems this is a general bug in the 0.4c software), when Aufit...

Re: List of difficult to copy disks

I guess I could add a flag for this, but it's something that SCP doesn't need to duplicate disks. I would say its worthwhile. Let's say this: it is only a single bit in the flags field and is a piece of information provided by the drive that is not currently stored... and it is potentially useful f...

Re: List of difficult to copy disks

JimDrew, Looking at the file format description for the .scp files, I cannot find a bit that indicates whether disk imaged was high-density or not. It seems bit 1 of the flags field is set whether the disk is DD or HD and the documentation says this bit is only relevant to 5.25" disks. Could th...

Re: List of difficult to copy disks

Re: List of difficult to copy disks

I have tried to use your FdcShiftBit() routine in my program. I never had problem with my previous decoder routine for many years until I found the specific case used in the Jupiter master drive game: a 0x5224 MFM pattern followed by a 0x4489 pattern that should be decoded as a 0xC2 address mark by...

By the way, heres the mobo pics They are not of the STe+ Also strange that the dram is mounted on the board rather than using SIMMs? See above. The STe+ had SIMM slots (as you can see in the PCB layout diagram in the 2nd post) I find this really fascinating. I think its not so easy to simply say it...

Re: MEGA ST keyboard with Caps Lock LED

Here we go. As promised, the dump from my MegaST keyboard. I'd be interested to know if the caps lock led is handled with it. Ok, a quick binary compare shows it is identical to the firmware from later keyboards (STE, MegaSTE, Falcon), but this I expected. I have a half-finished disassembly of this...

Is possible to dump the firmware from keyboard mpu and check if the handling routine is still there? I posted a keyboard dump program here: http://www.atari-forum.com/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=18983#p168455. I, for one, would be interested in a dump if you are able. I only have later Atari's and they...

No, not yet: this is its first "publication". As far as I know only Saint emulates a 6301 (although I've never tested how fully it emulates, or whether it just does enough to allow those demos that get the 6301 to run their own code). I was thinking of trying to write some full emulator co...

Cool! I'd also be interested in a dump of your keyboard ROM too, if you don't mind doing so, as I'd like to see whether it ever changed between the original issue and the Mega STE (which is what I've got). The attached program will hopefully run on your machine. It was written by me, so its only bee...

Re: Looking for Cubase 'Styletrax' module (original!)

Charles, Thank you for your response. The disk itself shouldn't be copy protected: the dongle was used for this purpose. Therefore, it should be possible to simply copy the files and/or image the disk (e.g. MSA is a good way - I can give you a link to a download, if you need it). I'm afraid I don't ...
