Re: USB HID interface

Arne -the original author of the USB HID interface: will there be any further development to make this project fully working?
You've obviously put a lot of work into it, and there is interest, so why just see it go away for nothing?

Re: MegaSTe hardware problems -help locate it please!

Apart from the short-circuited filter (which, when removed got my MIDI IN working again) I'm starting to wonder there might be other causes for my problems: 1) blitter is currently disabled (yesterday it was working!), and I've checked all the wire connections between the MonSTer and those motherboa...

MonSTer IDE LED not working

I've got an IDE to Compact Flash adapter connected to my Mega STe MonSTer board but the LED pins appear not to work. Maybe I've got it wrong, but I believe it's like this: http://www.atari-forum.com/download/file.php?id=33389&mode=view I started looking into this because my new IDE-CF adapter's ...

Re: New board: MonSTer

After removing and resoldering all the blitter-related wires it's now working again. This time I'm using some strong glue instead of the hot-glue that keeps falling off all the time to secure them! Just goes to show that even though wires appear to be connected they sometimes aren't (or not well con...

Re: How to: recapping the Mega STe power supply

Good thing you mentioned their eBay store because it's cheaper there than their normal online store! I've added all this info to the original "how to" posting above (at the end). I agree with the easy/safe way out as I wouldn't feel technically competent to experiment and figure out which ...

Yes, I found it! UKP 4.79 each.
It's this one, right?

It seems postage costs isn't to high either, which is always good.

Re: How to: recapping the Mega STe power supply

Good catch! I did get hold of Chips'n chips many years ago, but with most of it in German and my "schule deutsch" not being the best I only quickly read through it. That's by Michael Ruge, isn't it? If I'm not mistaken he abandoned the Atari platform and didn't want to continue releasing i...

Re: How to: recapping the Mega STe power supply

You're welcome! Oh, one thing I could have mentioned is that while you're already servicing the PSU you might want to replace the (noisy) old original fan with something better. I read this page on how to replace the Mega STe fan with a silent running Noctua NF-A6x25 which is nice. One little detail...

Re: pcb schematics for eiffel 3

Something which might be of interest.... Although for the Amiga, this SUM USB-HID interface could perhaps be adapted for use with the Atari ST? Maybe the author can be asked. Then there's the open source AmigaInputToUSB project which allows (among other things) Atari joysticks to be used as USB HID ...

Re: psu.why & how to replace the dreaded capacitors in ATARI ST!

Your link came up empty ("not found") but I suggest you look at the schematic for your particular power supply and find the C2 capacitor. The numbers you read seem to be production numbers. There's recapping info for most of the Atari power supplies here , but I didn't find that specific A...

How to: recapping the Mega STe power supply

I recently decided to replace all the electrolytic capacitors (recap) in my Mega STe power supply (Phihong PSM-5341) as a safety measure, considering it's close to 30 years old a "ticking time bomb". Better to replace before everything goes wrong than after! Electrolytic capacitors have a ...

Re: Value of a 2U Rackmount case for an ST = ?

The Moving about is not too much of an issue, but good solid connections defintiely are. I hte it when you get it right and then a gfew days later, a wire somewhere is not quite right, and you try to fix it only to end up moving other wires and you end up with an earth loop you cannot cure, and in ...

Re: MegaSTe hardware problems -help locate it please!

A quick note just to say that I've successfully recapped the Mega STe power supply (using Exxos' suggested replacement values) which went fine. I used dummy load resistors to check the output voltages before and after recapping for comparison and to ensure I wouldn't blow up the preacious computer i...

Re: Value of a 2U Rackmount case for an ST = ?

Ok, I will chuck some piccies up when I can. But yeah, I recon with a RAM boost, and a HD, the STFM would make a great Midi setup. I agree. And probably a lot more stable if you assemble any hardware add-ons (dongle expander, extra MIDI outputs etc.) because it won't be so sensitive to being moved ...

Printing from Atari-forum.com

Re: New board: MonSTer

I removed the MonSTer and the Blitter works fine on the computer so I suspect the various wires from the motherboard have gotten loose when I removed the board to desolder pin 20. They all look fine but you never know... Does anyone have a suggestion for a good type of glue for fastening wires to IC...

My thoughts too. The jumper is there and so are the connectors from the various ICs.
Something must have happened when I removed the MonSTer for removing IDE pin 20.

Re: New board: MonSTer

Something strange is definitely going on because the "activity" LED of the dual IDE-CF adapter is constantly lit when both CF cards are inserted (the LED only lit up when there was actual drive activity from either CF-card) and the "slave" card doesn't show up on the desktop. I'v...

Re: pcb schematics for eiffel 3

Did you order a PCB out of the KiCAD files in the SmallyMouse2 package or modify it and make your own design? Regardless, that's cool (especially considering you need to solder SMD components)! About USB hubs the author wrote this further down in the comments section : You (and anyone else) are more...

Re: New board: MonSTer

pin20 isn't used on the MonSTer or connected, so it can't affect the CF cards LED. I'm not implying the (now) missing pin 20 is the cause of no LED light but wanted to suggest it being omited in future releases of the MonSTer because it (mechanically) prevents a keyed 44-pin IDE female connector fr...

Re: New board: MonSTer

Thanks. I had to desolder pin 20 from the MonSTer. Perhaps future MonSTer boards could have this pin omitted by default? It works fine, but for some reason the IDE-CF adapter's activity LED stopped working! It worked to begin with, and the actual LED still works (I tested it with a multimeter). And ...

Re: pcb schematics for eiffel 3

Yes, it's mouse only, but in the comments section I asked about keyboard support and the author of the SmallyMouse2 project replied that it's mostly a matter of interfacing it to the computer: The advantage of quadrature mice is that, although the connectors are not standard, the output to the retro...
