Boiler - log writes to ff8800 - YM register select/GISELECT

Hi (I'm using the SSE Steem Boiler 3.8.2.exe if that makes a difference.) Just wondering if there is a way/how to log the writes to address ff8800? For a learning exercise - I'm trying to debug/re-implement some YM playback routine. My reworked code works to a point - so I want to compare the regist...

Re: Help Compiling/running STSpeech.s

Thanks for the suggestion If I add the EVEN where you suggested BSS EVEN wave_params: wave_a_step: ds.b 1 wave_a_amp: ds.b 1 wave_b_step: ds.b 1 it still crashes (see the even1.png) - but the debugger is referencing a EVEN label??? EVEN1.PNG The devpac manual seems to say to place the even after the...

Re: Help Compiling/running STSpeech.s

I've done a bit of debugging - SMC (self modify code?) is defined as 0 I think its bombing in L31cc: move.l (a0)+,wave_params move.w (a0)+,wave_params+4 wave_params: wave_a_step: ds.b 1 I'm still reading the devpac manual on debugging. Any help gratefully received!

Help Compiling/running STSpeech.s

Hi I'm a real novice at 68k but I stumpled across the source code for STSpeech in the below post and thought I'd have a go at compiling it/see how it worked :- http://www.atari-forum.com/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=2254&start=25 post by by earx » Sat Aug 19, 2006 12:30 pm - towards the bottom. I've...

How to switch off the "key clicks" programatically

Hi Is there are (x)bios calls to switch off the key-click programatically? (I've searched but didn't find anything) I've got some old OSS Personal Pascal programs (GEM and TOS) which I'm re-visiting but I'd like to switch that "click" off in code - without having to use the control.acc. Th...

Thanks for the sample files (there was a bug with my ym loading.) Once I've got the envelopes sorted via YM then I'll take a look at sndh.

Thats what I thought - but what I've tried (xenon/eliminator) don't seem to? I guess I'll check my ym loading against st-sound, as I'm probably doing something wrong.

YM musics using envelopes to test YM emulator

Hi Just wondering if there are any YM files that actually use the envelope genorator to use variable volumes, rather than fixed (registers 8,9,10, 5th bit = 1). I'm in the processes of using MikeJ YM VHDL "linear mix" as a basis for a ym chip emulator - and am using .yms to test my code. (...

ST Format collection (iss 6-86) inc cover discs/wonder discs

I need to have a clear out and have come across my ST Format magazines - which I'd rather not just throw away. Any offers on the lot? Issue 6 (June 1990) - 86 (Sep 96 (last issue)) Issues 57 onwards I started subscribing and they included a "wonder disc" + extra a4 suppliment. (I had a qui...

A list of games/demos to push an STFM emulator

Hi Just wondering if anyone has a few suggestion of some games/demos which historically have been problematic on emulators. I believe oids suffered from some problems with the dos based emaultors? I know Super Hangon display is ok on steem/dcastaway but on harati and staint it isn't quite right. Als...

Awesome! Files are extracting as I write this (on XP)

Thanks very much!

PS The only reason for trying/using win 2000 was that gemxplor has a note saying "xp version comming" (and the fact that under xp, it didn't see the scsi disk at all).

Hi I've "found" my old ST Hard drive and I'm trying to get some files off it. (The ST is still somewhere deep within the loft.). When I bought it (from Gasteiner?) - they asked if I was likely to be buying a Falcon, as they could fit an apater for an extra £??? (Non't remeber how much - as...

Thanks for the replies. I thought I had an understanding of the crt analogue signals and was trying to "work backwards".

I found this article which seems to explain things from a hardware point of view :-

Re: V an H Blanking interupts - timings @ 50hz

Horizontal Interupt I assumed that for the likes of Spectrum 512 etc, you'd get the interupt when the video had finished ouputting the visable area (the 52us) - giving you the "blanking time" to reset pallets etc BEFORE the next line was scanned (ie the 8 us). Although after re-reading the...

Re: Super Hangon and hatari-1.0.1_windows

I already isolated the problem in super hang on some times ago, it's related to a write to MFP registers that take effect immediatly. On a real ST it seems to be delayed a few cycles (perhaps some wait cycles when writing to the mfp). Did this having anything to do with this article :- "Counti...

Super Hangon and hatari-1.0.1_windows

Hi

When playing Suer Hangon (doesn't appear to be realted to a specific version, eg klapauzius version, Bladerunners, those in Gamebase ST) - when playing, the background gets "stripes" through it every so often.

Saint does the same, but Steem seems ok...

SainT211.exe - lower resolution limit?

Hi I've read the posts about Saint, fullsceen and 50hz syncing - and I'm still a bit confused. Help appreciated! My real query is, does SaintT have a lower/internal native screen resolution of 800x600 for full screen? Eg ⋅ Desktop res of 1024x768, if I select fullscreen and don't tick the ...
