Re: Newbie questions

Is there a way to make permanent keyboard key to joystick button remappings for games/cores that will not reset when changing the core or resetting MiSTer? This could be very useful for example with MSX games where many game commands are assigned to keyboard function keys.

Re: Local Sellers for MiSTer Expansion Boards

If anyone is interested in a consolized MiSTer https://www.ebay.com/itm/MiSTer-FPGA-Console-128MB-ram-512GB-storage-Blisster-I-O-board-RTC-board/143532611793 Dang, I remember seeing this in the other thread and wishing I had one. Now that I have a setup already the price would be a bit too much for...

Re: MiSTer NES Core

Fast and perfect fix indeed! The audio issue I noticed is still probably exclusive to my audio setup + this core's direct video output. There's a slight audio glitch noticeable on ROM start with games where sound plays right away. It still only occurs when I'm extracting digital audio with direct mo...

Re: Original analog video without I/O board? Possible!

There are some HDMI matrices that can pass along the direct video output without problems. The 6x2 matrix I use can perfectly take the output from the MiSTer and pass it along both to an HDMI-VGA adapter as well as an external scaler. I'm guessing it would pass it also to a capture card, though I ha...

Re: MiSTer NES Core

It seems like the glitches happen mostly when the game has just booted. For example Super Mario Bros shows that glitched graphic when booting, but the rest of the game seems to play fine. SMB3 shows some graphic glitches on the world map the first time it appears. Some expanded audio games like Gimm...

Re: MSX core

This core doesn't yet support saving to tape/cassette, does it? Too bad Metal Gear needs this to save (there is a rom that can save to disk, but that is hack, only in English and not the original Japanese).

Re: NeoGeo topic

Changed power supply and all the weird glitches and problems with the core have disappeared. You were not using the default power supply that ships with the DE10 Nano? 3rd party power supplies should be avoided, unless they've been tested and approved by the community here or some of the good MiSTe...

Great, I really like your boards, especially since you use black PCBs. I like it more than the blue that most people use.

Re: NeoGeo topic

Seems kinda random to me. Just have to play the games long enough for it to eventually happen. Usually I only saw it on a late stage or on round 2 after the ending.

So it may not be easy to debug this issue, but hopefully as the core becomes even more accurate it can be resolved naturally.

I ended up having the same issue in AF 3 even using original bios, so it's not a bios issue but rather a core issue with both AF games.

Re: I/O Board

While the dual output is nice to have as an option, it's only really needed for streamers. For regular users who need to switch between scaled and direct video frequently, I recommend using an HDMI matrix with two outputs, one can go to flat panel and the other to DAC, so all you need to do is toggl...

Re: X68000 core

Wow, huge respect to Jotego! Producing a working X68000 core would be a monumental achievement, especially since a lot of knowledge about it remains among Japanese devs, such as those who have produced the best X68000 emulators, and the language barrier is often hard to cross for collaboration. I kn...

Re: I/O Board

Connector for RTC is on different height, there is no connector you can use on I/O board which will be high enough to be inserted. So you have to make some ugly conversion connector like some "professional" board used I know the board you're talking about and while it doesn't seem like an...

Re: I/O Board

Just noticed the details on the digital I/O board posted in the update topic. Very interesting. Sounds like the future will be to have all analogue output via HDMI, which is smart. Only problem is that some core devs that are not actively working on cores anymore may need to be contacted since there...

After several days trying to figure out how to set h position for each channel on my sony pvm 14m4E...and i’m not able to understand how to do. I don't own your model so I can't confirm, but if it does have this setting it would be in the "channel configuration" or such submenu, where you...

Re: Using MiSTer with a PVM

It should be fine. If you feed it an unsupported frequency it will either show a scrambled picture or simply fail to sync. If you want to be insanely safe, you could put an Extron RGB interface in between, from which you can read the H and V frequency values and check if they are within the range su...

Re: SNES core

Similar issue with the latest version, the attract loop fills the screen with garbage. Playing works up to the first 'screen change' (about 5 fights in) then the tiles are misplaced and player is stuck against BG. After about two hours of running the NeoGeo core I switched to SNES core and ran FF6 ...

Re: SNES core

I also have a proper heatsink and fan. Also the issue I saw was not the game crashing in the intro after a while, nor graphics or text corruption, but rather the background tiles scrolling by at incorrect speed. Also this was after just having turned on the MiSTer, so I really doubt it is due to ove...

Actually there really may be an issue with the core's compatibility with this game. Not sure if it makes a difference but I just ran the updater and tried this again. Re: PC Engine core

not a big. 99% of cores (non-MiSTer) have no serration. Don't make an elephant from mosquito. If it's happened that you have one of those PVM/BVM not able to cope with this, then get an Extron - it will fix the problem. The overlap between MiSTer user base and video quality enthusiasts who use prof...

memtest running for one hour gets no errors at 140Mhz on both of my RAM modules (32 and 128).
