Re: C64 Core

Sorgelig can probably give a more informed answer, but I don't think you would want to do the filter emulation on the ARM part. AFAIK, FPGA architecture lends itself very well to signal processing and filtering. So you would probably want to implement the filter emulation on the FPGA itself. I think...

Re: Arcade cores

I got my arcade cores to work with Mame files. It works really well it seems. Thank you so much to all the developers. Food Fight with analog stick is pretty amazing for example. However, some very few Arcade cores seem to not work well with vsync_adjust=2 even with my freesync HDMI monitor. Donkey ...

Re: Minimig (Amiga) core discussion

Has anyone gotten 4 player multitap gameplay to work? I thought it was supported, but doesn't work for me. I made an issue here: https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/Minimig-AGA_MiSTer/issues/46 The many 4 player freeware games were the best on the Amiga: SpaceTaxi 3, Masterblaster, etc.! And of course t...

Re: Show us your MiSTer hardware setup

Your setup looks really cool. I didn't think of running the 12V version at 5V, good idea. Because the MiSTer doesn't need much cooling, I suppose? Just a little air movement is enough?

Re: Show us your MiSTer hardware setup

Nice! Very neat!

Why is everybody using screws instead of the four long rubber squeeze-and-pull pieces to attach their Noctua fan? Mine is quite a bit more silent with those!

Yes. It only seems to affects menu navigation With retro controllers that use DB9 for me anyways, so no big deal.

Bouncing buttons and directions with old controllers

Does MiSTer not emulate the de-bouncing circuits of old computers like Amiga? I hooked up some old school joysticks, and, of course, the micro switches on the buttons and directions bounce since those are passive devices. I am pretty sure I never observed bouncing on my old Amiga and C64 so I think ...

Will this download the required external data from MiSTer repositories, or does the user have to do that by hand?

Re: Minimig (Amiga) core discussion

Small question: I have limited knowledge about Amiga emulation but I've been tinkering with HDFs in WinUAE as well as UAE4All on the Switch and of course Minimig. Is there some configuration I'm missing that seems to hinder the same HDFs working across all three platforms? My problem is that they n...

Re: Show us your MiSTer hardware setup

I find all setups here interesting, even the "stock" ones. Do those Arcade sticks have Sanwa, Seimitsu, or knock-off buttons and sticks inside? I now like Seimitsu and IL most. Seimitsu buttons have more oomph compared to wimpy Sanwa. IL is much better than HAPP. I modded some arcade stick...

Re: How to read memtest utility?

It helps to read the official documentation which is here: https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/Main_MiSTer/wiki Following the link for sdram test under service cores there, I get: https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/MemTest_MiSTer There it says: Screen shows 4 numbers: Upper left is time in minutes passed. ...

Re: FX CAST Atari ST core

Since I am using HDMI, I am also experiencing the previously reported problems that the core is not outputting 1080p but some other resolution. It seems it is not obeying my Mister.ini config file correctly, because I set 1080p there. In addition, and I hope this is actually a new issue, the output...

Re: Minimig (Amiga) core discussion

I suggest use shadow of the beast for testing scrolling.

When it is perfectly smooth you will know. The difference is like day and night.

The ease of use and easy setup is what I love about Mister. Few options, not much fiddling it “just works“ for me.

Turrican should be 100% perfectly smooth. Also: Pinball Dreams during demo (table waiting for players) should scroll up and down perfectly smooth.

Re: Minimig (Amiga) core discussion

My settings are for a 1920x1080 HDMI monitor with free sync (supports non-standard refresh rates like 51 Hz). The native resolution you mention is not one of the standard HDMI resolution that mister supports it seems. So I am not sure what you should put in your .ini file. You could try video_mode =...

Re: Newbie questions

A fan is needed is to cool the main FPGA System On A Chip. I have found without cooling the SDRAM test utility will show errors and many cores will glitch and be buggy. I use a cheap 50mm fan from ebay. It does the job and makes no noise. How to attach the fan without an IO board or case? I have us...

For me, using HDMI, the scrolling in Shadow of the Beast is perfectly smooth without tearing. But I use video_mode=8 vsync_adjust=2 and everything else at default. My monitor says "51 Hz" when I run the Amiga core, and Mister tells me "50.5 Hz", when I enable the video info displ...

Re: Show us your MiSTer hardware setup

Is a fan really needed? We have run tons of FPGA in our research lab and never put a fan. I suspect a simple heatsink might be enough, if needed at all. I understand that if the case has limited airflow due to small venting slots, then the fan might become necessary. But only when a case is used. I ...

Re: Minimig (Amiga) core discussion

I love this core, thank you. On my 16:9 HDMI monitor, the Workbench looks perfect, but many games appear quite small because games often don't use the full screen. There's nothing really wrong with that, after all the original Amiga also displayed these large borders in games. But modern 16:9 screen...
