Re: MiSTer frontend future

I also like the simplicity and speed of the menu very much. And it's the same structure for all cores. No reason to change that from my point of view. The newly introduced recent file list is a great add-on which really helps. Maybe this can be added to the menu, instead of pressing select button. I...

Re: MegaCD (SegaCD) Core

It occurs on external (not internal) memory and it can be reproduced easily (see above). On github, you can see in comments, there‘s already a fix but not released yet. Edit: Tried multiple times with several games. Eventually, at least one save file gets corrupt and prevents further saving or copyi...

Re: MegaCD (SegaCD) Core

Do you use internal or external RAM? There's an issue with external RAM cart. The saves are corrupt after writing to SD card (see above). Internal memory seems to work fine. I'm actually waiting for a new release before playing games with save support. Some code fixes have already been checked-in on...

Re: GBA Core porting to Mister

Regarding Turbo. Great feature. Less or no screen tearing in Lufia, smooth scrolling in Shining Force (with many objects on screen). All this is much better on MiSTER with activated turbo, compared to original hardware. Thanks! I'm wondering about technical possibilities to enhance scrolling in Zeld...

Re: MegaCD (SegaCD) Core

There's a small sound issue in Shining Force CD. When opening a chest or saving a game in the camp, there's a specific sound sample. The background music should stop when playing this sample, but it doesn't. I have attached a save, where the knight can just open a chest. Shining Force CD (US) - [6R1...

Re: MegaCD (SegaCD) Core

Thanks for implementing RAM backup support. 8) Internal backup is working fine so far. However, I have issues with the RAM cart (using Internal+Cart backup RAM). For instance Vay . I quickly created 3 saves (internal RAM) and copied them to RAM cart (using memory manager). So far so good, internal a...

ExCyber wrote:The main difference between MiSTer and an emulator in this respect is just that you don't shut down your PC by simply removing power.

Right, that's really the main difference. I own a lot of Linux handhelds. There I usually go back to the main menu and even the power button performs a shutdown.

Re: GBA Core porting to Mister

Regarding autosave. I lost a couple of saves until I realized how it works. For example Lufia. When I save the game progress, it asks to continue or go back to title screen. In both cases, if I switch the MiSTer off, the save is not stored on the SD card. It needs either a reset (core menu...

Just checked Kirby and DK on my SGB. Right, the colors are better on the SGB, compared to GBC hardware. Definitely an advantage.

Re: Would a Super Gameboy core be technically possible?

The SGB is actually a piece of GB hardware (runs a bit faster than the original GB/GBC), which uses the SNES for video out. It allows to use a color palette for grayscale GB games. If you're looking to play GB games with colors, the GB/GBC core already supports custom palettes (*.gbp). The core also...

Re: MegaCD (SegaCD) Core

Regarding saves.

RAM cart is not supported, I know. But what about built-in memory?

I'm able to save and load in games. I also can see the saves in the memory manager. As soon as I reboot, saves are gone.

Now I have this games directory again. Can't tell what's creating it, but a simple reboot recreates /media/fat/games. :?

Tried it out. Helps a lot to speed it up. Thanks!

Regarding the change. It's more nice to have. Not necessary to change the logic just because of this. Maybe something to consider in the future.

[I think you had the unwanted /media/fat/games because something automatically created it (and consequently the updater used it). Ok, removed GAMES_SUBDIR from update.ini and it works as expected. As you said, something must have automatically created this games directory. Hope it doesn't happen ag...

Re: Scripting news

First of all, thanks for all the scripts. Very useful, especially the update script. I install new cores manually and use the update script to keep everything updated. GAMES_SUBDIR="/media/fat" CREATE_CORES_DIRECTORIES="false" DOWNLOAD_NEW_CORES="false" REPOSITORIES_FIL...

Added GAMES_SUBDIR="/media/fat" to update.ini. Now it's back to previous behaviour, updating /media/fat instead of /media/fat/games. Thanks!

Re: GBA Core call for bugs, Testers wanted

No worries. Here the results for the F games I tested so far. Maybe it helps. Some games have a short flashing screen (mostly pink) on screen transitions like selecting area, player etc. For instance F-Zero GP Legend, F1 2002, Famille Delajungle Le Film and others. As expected, most of the Famicom M...

Played some Lufia (The Ruins of Lore) last night. There's a small bug in the items screen. First letter of item names in the left column is truncated.

Re: NeoGeo topic

Ok, thanks. But then I would say, if the update script is used, then it should be "/media/fat/games/<CORE>". Otherwise the updated files are not used. @jca. Thanks. Btw, "/media/fat/games/NeoGeo/games" directory is not necessary for the games. I think it's better to put the games...

Fatal Fury 3 crashes when loading. On original BIOS it gets stuck on a black screen. On UniBIOS it shows the following error: https://imgur.com/a/QIeU9qo On AES mode works fine. If you unplug the memory card, it will also start in MVS mode. This game is a bit special. I did a couple of tests with N...

Re: GBA Core porting to Mister

Very nice. Thanks a lot Robert! 8) Finally a proper way to play GBA games on a TV.

First game I tried was Advance Wars of course.

Works well so far. There's just a small glitch. When a message is displayed at the bottom, the top line of the message box is flickering.
