Re: GEMBENCH 6

Yeah nobody reads how to use stuff thats a granted. GEMBench is GEM friendly, works fine in GEM. It doesn't work with multitasking environments which basically replace GEM with some other OS. This is because I simply never programed it in support for it as GB6 was for my use for what I need. If peop...

Re: GEMBENCH 6

32-bit gfx has an extra (unused) byte for an alpha channel. Simple fix is if you see 32-bit mode, report it as 24-bit color space, since that's what it actually yields. ie total_colors=shl(1,24) That would make sense. I guess I could report 16million colours on anything over 24bit. As for the multi...

Re: GEMBENCH 6

I think 16million colours doesn't have a bit plane number ? Can't really remember though I think "true colour" doesn't use planes ? So assume it came back as a stupid huge number and caused the error your saw. bitplanes are used only in 1-8 bit color mode. 15bit - 32bit modes use chunky p...

Re: Feature Requests

Are there apps depending on alt-ram? In that case that could be interesting for more people. Also need specs and test programs... I don't think there are apps which depend on it, Any app should be able to run in alt-ram though. Generally in the case of monster, it gives 8MB of alt-ram and just need...

Re: GEMBENCH 6

GemBench 6 build 24 works okay on my CT2A Falcon. Operating System is MagiC 6.20. The GemBench window is fixed in the middle of the screen. It doesn't like multitasking, won't come to the front again once hidden by other windows. GB6 doesn't support multitasking environments, someone else mentioned...

Re: Feature Requests

Hi For requests, I changed my mind, it's better to open a new thread in the development sub-section of Steem in this forum. Easier to follow. In Steem, there's the 14 MB hack. I looked for "alt-ram", it seems part of something bigger (MonSTer?) I think I've seen 14MB in there, but assume ...

Re: GEMBENCH 6

I'd like to see FPU tests for my TT so that I could compare it before and after overclock... As long as its not IO MAPPED FPU, you can save stock benchmarks, then overclock and try again, that function has been in GB6 for a while now. Same with the falcon, though I did do a benchmark file for that ...

Re: Feature Requests

Not sure if its been suggested before, but is it possible to add alt-ram into steem ?

Probably only useful for developers more than normal users I guess though.

GB6 BUILD 24 See bottom of page for downloads. http://www.exxoshost.co.uk/atari/last/GB6/index.htm I've uploaded GB4 registered as that could be "lost" as its "somewhere" on the forum. Now its on the page so easy to find. BUILD 24 UPDATES Some tests have some alt-ram benchmarks ...

Re: GEMBENCH 6 (almost)

Started doing some more work on GB6, mostly adding a screenshot routine in, still going to take some time to finish up. But a few small tweaks here and there, all is explained in the readme file each release. Its becoming hard to find time to work on it lately, still lots I want to add in though. It...

Re: atari ste corrupts filesystem when write

The question is - does the user want to investigate, or just fix the problem? If a new DMA chip actually fixes the problem, then I don't see why that should be a problem. I *think* I sent some SIL resistors aswell for him to swap out if he wants to investigate more. I've lost track with it all, had...

Re: Falcon ST-RAM 14MB boards

I've spent a lot of time testing about 10 simms out, various makes/manufacturers, mostly 60ns and they all seem to work fine and not failed even one bit (pardon the pun). I did have a odd thing where after my falcon was on for 9 hours it looked like it died totally. Then took ages to get it to reboo...

Re: KMTech Extended Joystick Port Adapter?

IIRC Alison when she designed JeST tried to get the analouge section to work, but it would only work in the extreme positions on the stick, and even then it wasn't reliable. As spiny says, its 80s tech and doesn't support anything but digital inputs. I assume the digital pads on the controllers work ...

Re: Open Source 68K Accelerator Project(s)

You can run stuff from the cartridge slot, but its limited (IIRC) to 128K and can't run much other than the diagnostics cart itself. There is ultrasatan which is a SD storage device which just plugs in, though if you have problems with the DMA circuit then that may not work either as the DMA does fl...

Would be interesting if you can test with the caches off aswell..
