Re: RGB to HDMI does this work with a ST

The device finally arrived at my place as well. Some testings done: Display 1: LG M1994D ESYNIC ST-LOW: No image ESYNIC ST-HIGH: No image OSSC ST-LOW: Looks good OSSC ST-HIGH: A bit stretched out Display 2: Benq E2220HD: ESYNIC ST-LOW: No image ESYNIC ST-HIGH: No image OSSC ST-LOW: Looks good OSSC S...

Re: RGB to HDMI does this work with a ST

- The VGA-> HDMI DOES 50 & 60 Hz with no problem - The VGA-> HDMI DOES output proper 50/60 motion and does not blend frames - The VGA-> HDMI DOES pass the flicker test (Flickers, both green and purple) My theory (please keep me honest) is that the Monitor RGB output is progressive as most VGA r...

Re: RGB to HDMI does this work with a ST

All those cheap HDMI converters; I've bought a ton of them and none have done 50 Hz motion. They have either dropped every second field of the PAL signal or added a de-interlace that merges fields. Either way, the end result is 25 Hz motion. Not good enough. Excuse my lack of proper eyesight :) - s...

Re: RGB to HDMI does this work with a ST

Hi everyone, I also wanted to try connecting my ST on some modern display. I bought and tried various SCART->HDMI solutions and made a quick video to show the results. I compared the different models, and shared my findings to the community: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c25dlHFW584 Only based on...

Re: CosmosEX 3.0

I searched a long time for a SCSI-2 to IDC cable but wasn't able to find one. Had a company in the states that makes custom cables on demand send me a quote. They wanted over $100 + shipping for that cable! 8O I ended up buying a standard SCSI-2 to Centronics cable and then a Centronics to IDC cabl...

Re: CosmosEX 3.0

I'd like to have one of these for my Falcon.
However, according to the website there is only cabling for internal SCSI. I'd like it external.

Does anyone know how to get hold of a SCSI cable that fits the Falcon external connector and CosmoSex 3?

Re: Apex Media in Hatari freezing on start-up

I just did a test, and it appears to work without issue. I used this commandline with the release version of Hatari 2.1: ./hatari --machine falcon --dsp emu --cpulevel 3 --cpuclock 32 --fpu 68882 --memsize 14 --avi-fps 50 --window --frameskips 0 --statusbar false --drive-led false --monitor rgb --fo...

Re: STE horizontal hardware scroll

Thanks, I understand this. What I did not get was, how is this changing the screen address every line can help me expand line width to ( as evil wrote ) infinite width ( and without using lw register ) But I will not be asking more, the magical sync code you mentioned above definitely excludes this...

Re: STE horizontal hardware scroll

register ff820f is of a byte size for STE ( falcon has a different register which is of word size ) So does it mean that on STE there is a limit of a one shot playfield composed of 4 horizontal screens that can be hardware scrolled? ( byte = 256 = 3 * 80 words per scanline which can be skipped by s...

Re: Screen issues with some demos on 1040STE

It's known that MPP (which is used in these two demos) is a bit too tight on timing so these infamous dots can show up. The way to get rid of it is to switch off the machine, and on again. And hope it will work. I tried Sea of Colour on a number of machines before releasing it, and it very rarely go...

Thanx Evil. Can you ask to Jochen if you can spread his editor? I was asked not to upload it a long time ago when I was building the chip tracker section of my homepage. Also got some other nice trackers back then that remains unreleased, like MS 4.0 with seven voices. But I leave that up to Tao to...

Re: Madmax's tracker ?

I think for the early ones (Readme, LSD, LCD, SNDS, B.I.G.) it was mostly C-64 compositions. So as far I know, those songs needed no composition tool. Although the note-player needed to be remade for the ST and sound programming done from scratch as well. For newer original compositions (like Thalio...

Re: Atari Falcon - how many sound channels? 8 or 16?

Hi, how many sound channels Atari Falcon had? It has four stereo pairs in hardware but only one pair can be connected to the internal DAC at once. By adding more external DAC's to the DSP port (with devices such as FA8) you can get all 8 channels out individually. For games and so forth that don't ...

Re: Atarti 1040STF (NTSC) black screen w/audio

Thanks for the info! The RGB cables are indeed RGB, but sadly seems like I am out of luck with this display. Outside of importing a color monitor (would end up costing roughly 300USD due to shipping), I think my only option at this point is to a) give up or b) go with your advice (B) and get an STe...

Re: Atarti 1040STF (NTSC) black screen w/audio

Hello everyone. I recently purchased a reconditioned 1040STF (NTSC) from a very reputable seller, but am having trouble with it and was wondering where I should start in troubleshooting it. Basically, I have a Sony PVM monitor which support RGB over SCART. I use several consoles/computers on this m...

Re: The X68000 games porting experiment

I have updated the lastest test archive with various demo replay files which I've found on the internet. The files are stored in the "ETC_DAT" subdirectory ("DEMO2.REP" - "DEMO7.REP") and can be used by renaming them to "DEMO.REP". As an obvious rule of thumb...

Re: OS X - video capture

thanks for answer! bmp video recording is sufficient enough. Hatari dump to BMP is the way to go. Don't use external recorders such as Quicktime X, Snapz Pro X or ScreenFlick, they will not make a perfect framerate video like Hatari itself does. If the end goal is Youtube, I recommend running the H...

Re: Demos for Atari STE

I wanted to try Drone but it crashes... If you are using Hddriver, enable "Fast ACSI" (Settings/SCSI Driver) and it should run. Drone is not super-picky on drive speed and about 500k/sec should be enough (so any SCSI from back in the day should work). We made the demo as a tribute for Ult...

The poll really need a comment field as well.

For example, I'd like to buy this device for the Falcon, if it works with 68060 :)
I'd pay more if it supports full SCSI-speed and 1.44/2.88MB floppy.

I used 'screens pain" to generate what I think is a 320x240x256 color display. I set a new palette at $FF98000 and 256 long words forward, but it seems that I only get 16 colors on screen, not 256. Is something wrong with the setup it generated? I hacked together an example source that does st...

Re: Hatari 1.8.0 has been released

Hatari is often used as a development tool rather than an exact emulation of the real thing. Personally I'd welcome higher/unlimited clock frequencies and fastram, since it would enable me to test my (040++) code properly (no, aranym is no longer an alternative, because it's a lot less compatible t...
