Is you cat a Birman? My gf breeds Ragdolls, the mitted variety looks the same except the mitts are smaller on a Ragdoll. So far my STe is still functioning even with all the cat fur everwhere ;-)

<SNIP> Atari unfortunately wasn't even close to such attitude. But note that not everything was their fault. As I commented in the long thread about sync-scroll, there are some aspects that were known by the hardware experts (or at least they could easily found out) but not by the demo sceners. Tha...

Well hang on a minute. The Amiga was going to be an Atari product and the ST was about the best Atari could do in the time given with mainly off the shelf parts. The Amiga 500 came out in 1987 and two years later the STe came out which surely must have been an attempt to compete better with the Amig...

This also slightly off topic, but with regards to overscan and sync scrolling in particular does anyone else think Atari were idiots in their attitude towards it? What I mean is, once they became aware of these techniques they should have endeavoured to promote and enhance them. I'm not sure what th...

This is still my current fave remix of an old classic chip tune, Tim Follins Bionic Commando level 5 music. This mix is by a famous Amiga musician (Romeo Knight) who I think used to do music for Red Sector demos.

In Heartland 2000 I do 4 pixel 8 directional scrolling at 50 frames. Viewport is not the full screen but quite big. The routine rebuilds all the block completely. You don't want to do it at 25 frames because that looks horrible IMHO. Hans Wessels Can you attach the file here? The download link on p...

The Atari 8-bit has a lot of hardware support: hardware vertical and horizontal scrolling, hardware sprites, splitted screens, mixed mode screens, precise raster interrupts, etc. Besides, it is a much more "deterministic" computer. You could do lot of tricks that are guaranteed to work al...

The 8-bit conversion looks quite impressive, I wonder how it moves! Scrolling always seemed to be the big problem on the STFM, particularly horizontal or multi-directional. I've never tried making a software scrolling routine for scrolling a game map though I imagine by using pre-shifted buffers, us...

MUG, so you formatted the card on your ST and it's readable/writable on both Windows XP and the ST? That's the kind of setup I'm aiming for.

I'm slightly ashamed to say that I can confirm Scooter did use that phrase in one of their tracks! I don't know if they were the first to use it though. Scooter is my enemy, this is where it all started: <SNIP> From the darkness to light, Scooter also told me to buy all their albums : this is bette...

I managed to pre-order/pay for one today even though it's late. I'm so glad they made a few extras for people who don't keep an eye on things properly like me!
