Re: Real floppy drives with MiSTer?

Not really. If what you want is to access (not to dump) the floppy directly from the FPGA system, instead of a disk image, then depending on the specific core barely anything at all needs to be developed. You need just an extension board. Some cores might need some developing, but if so it should b...

Re: Real floppy drives with MiSTer?

Hm, interesting. Floppy support would be cool in the path of preserving old disks, but like others said there are may other options out there. I replied a while back in this thread, but I used a XUM1541 to dump my C64 disks I wanted to preserve, stuff I did back then mostly but I still dumped my ori...

Re: MiSTer - Case v1.0

For modeling I like using my old 123d by Autodesk but they discontinued the support for it. My go to alternative is Netfabb by Autodesk. Here you can get a trial or a so call "non-licensed" version (former basic version) which you will get, when you cancel all license pop-ups. It will wor...

Re: MiSTer - Case Universal v5.2 - 3D printed

Using 20% infill and 3 Top/Bottom layers and 2 outer shells you will need around 103 grams or 35 meters of material. Of course this will very slightly from printer to printer. 8) Thanks, that really helps! That’s pretty much spot on, I took a look at my settings when I printed mine and I’m at 110 g...

Re: HDMI video capture

I have an Hauppauge HDPVR Rocket, it still seems to be sold but it was in liquidation back then for some reason. This one runs standalone like the Avermedia.

I also have an Elgato HD60, but this one still seems more expensive and requires a PC.

Re: MISTer Ethernet (not so) strange behaviour

if anyone care, then would be good to find out why MiSTer asks for 2 IPs. I have no time for this investigation. It seems that both dhcpcd and connmand are requesting IP addresses: Jan 1 00:00:26 MiSTer daemon.warn connmand[904]: ipconfig state 3 ipconfig method 1 Jan 1 00:00:26 MiSTer daemon.info ...

Re: MISTer Ethernet strange behaviour

Yes but finaly the "double ip address" is not really a problem , the problem for me is the empty arp table of the mister. Seems we have the same kind of "dhcp server" by the way ;) A_s Mine seems to work fine other than that however, so the ARP table must be populated… an SRX300...

Re: MISTer Ethernet strange behaviour

I have a somewhat similar thing. Device gets two IPs from DHCP even if I have reserved one in the server. root@SRX> show dhcp server binding IP address Session Id Hardware address Expires State Interface 10.0.28.13 30 02:03:04:05:06:07 3580 BOUND ge-0/0/2.100 <= DHCP reserved IP 10.0.26.2 31 02:03:0...

Re: Real floppy drives with MiSTer?

I archived my C64 floppies (near 500 pieces) one year ago using a classic 1541 and an RR-Net MK3: https://icomp.de/shop-icomp/en/shop/product/rr-net-mk3.html The device is not cheap, but it's very fast (it takes 20 secs reading a side of a floppy disks), and retries automatically of errors occur. W...

Re: Real floppy drives with MiSTer?

I have no good nostalgia feeling about floppy drives. Even in later 90x i've installed HDD to my BK0011M and almost stopped to use these always tend to corrupt the data crappy floppies. Yeah, floppies are totally unreliable, that’s why I want to dump what is worth keeping from my stash before they’...

Re: Real floppy drives with MiSTer?

Honestly, other than for the preservation of old floppies, using disk images is probably more practical today. I’m in the process of doing something like this with my old C64 disks I’d like to keep with a XU1541 device and my old drives, which aren’t in the best of shape unfortunately... For the har...

Re: Maximum SD card size for MiSTer ?

Well, I’m an idiot. Turns out I used FileZilla to get the main MiSTer files and menu.rbf from my running MiSter install to transfer to the new SDcard but it decided to use ASCII instead of binary when downloading which corrupted the files. Redownloaded by forcing transfers to binary instead of autom...

Maximum SD card size for MiSTer ?

Hello, Is there a limitation on the SDcard size that can be used with MiSTer at the moment ? Right now anything 64gb and above gives me a black screen here, haven’t tried with a 32gb yet as mine are all used at the moment. But the included 8gb in the DE10 package works along with a 4gb I used. Thanks.
