Re: ATARI ST Core

making a very far target - less possibility to make it. It's better to port it first and only then start to improve it. +1 when free time and motivation is scarce, advancing little step by little step is better. Porting the core and fix a few instructions is a good starting point. A question popped...

Re: ATARI ST Core

@sporniket, clever instructions ;-) which Core have you ported to MIster? I have done nothing, I heard about MiST and MiSTer a few weeks ago, when nostalgia lead me to the Atari ST once again. For now I want to concentrate on learning asm and write a little game, as I have so few free time and free...

Re: ATARI ST Core

Here's the checklist for a newbie like me to do it -at least, that is what I understand one should do-, should I ever try someday in the future : 1. Hardware ⋅  buy the base board ⋅  buy or diy the io extension with VGA (unless one have a paid license of Quartus, you may sell a k...

Re: why use ASM anymore

i've read some of the old compute magazines and found the MLX program to be insufficient, so i understand the appeal of ASM to a point. my question is this: is there a way to do assembly on an atari 800 through BASIC? (IT won't get an assembler and i'm too cheap to buy one). any example code? thank...

I can understand the feelings that motivate the posting, and as long as such subjects are posted in the appropriate sub-forum OR in the Chat subforum, they are entitled to go to the "recent topic" at the top of the homepage. Otherwise, someday we ought to have a poll entitled "The Cha...

On a Full HD screen, set the font size to 19pt give good results, there are more visible lines of text than with 25pt

My Opentype font inspired by Atari ST 8×16 system font now on github

A few years ago, I have created an OpenType font inspired by the Atari ST monochrome system font : http://www.sporniket-studio.com/page/200812240005 Sporniket Nostalgie Sans Bold, and a monospaced variant (Sporniket Nostalgie Sans Mono Bold, obviously) for your terminal and text editor. Right now, I...

Re: hatari v2.1.0 on linux ubuntu 16.04 LTS : no sound

Yesterday I was not in the mood to make the build. I installed all the dev packages and it works fine, I can hear the sound as well.

Thank you.

Re: Wiki dead?

A long time ago, I played with MediaWiki, IIRC there is a special export page where one can specify a list of pages, and get the xml to process/inject elsewhere.

For the record, the article is not in the source page, I have to edit the article to see it in the edition textarea.

Re: hatari v2.1.0 on linux ubuntu 16.04 LTS : no sound

I guess the "snap" thing is not that self-sufficient, anyway the older 1.8 is good enough for now, I'll do with that. However I tried compiling 2.1 by myself in the hope that it builds without problem, but cmake fails with pthread test at the configuration step (the equivalent of autotools...

Re: hatari v2.1.0 on linux ubuntu 16.04 LTS : no sound

Since I discovered that I had not installed the deb package from Ubuntu repository, I did that (version 1.8 ), and I've got sound, no message of system too slow.

Re: Noobs use C, real programmers use Basic

From my personnal experience, a noob will be spotted because of a lack of computer science knowledge (e.g. some years ago I had to work with a trainee who graduated from a computer science college, and he didn't even know how to navigate inside a tree data structure). As a teenager, I tried to code ...

Re: hatari v2.1.0 on linux ubuntu 16.04 LTS : no sound

Here are my answer : => I used a pre-built Hatari, a "snap"-ed package (for the record, until I checked the details now, I thought it was a regular deb package because I used the Ubuntu software center gui instead of the command line) : $ sudo snap info hatari-emulator name: hatari-emulato...

Awww that would have been awesome if such engine and clever level design could produce such a fluid rendering throughout all the game. This level was such a "WOW !"

hatari v2.1.0 on linux ubuntu 16.04 LTS : no sound

Hello, I recently installed hatari on my computer (linux ubuntu), I have no sound at all. It complains of my computer being "too slow", and I have an i7, SSD and plenty of RAM. I tried playing with sound settings without any success. Here is the console message when starting the emulator :...

Re: The Obligatory 'Introduce Yourself Thread'...

Hello from Paris, The 1040 STe was my first computer as a Xmas present. Years later I could get the GFA Basic 3.5E with compiler (again as Xmas present or reward for a good scholar year...). I even wrote a modest memory game as a shareware : Let's Go Memo (googling a little, here is a metadata land ...
