We code for our own enjoyment, in one way or another. Let's just respect that. No need to turn this into "work".

Re: [SOLVED] What IPL is a TRAP exception?

OK, I'm an idiot. $4ba = 1210. 1210 / 4 = 302.5, i.e. I can't use Setexc! In reality I'm reading content of 302*4 = $4b8, i.e. unused/undocumented variable. I should have known better, right? Sigh. Brainfart. Ssystem() does the trick, but then again you're stuck in the FreeMiNT domain in such case.

Dawnbringer 16-color palette sorted to fit the standard NVDI/TOS4 palette layout would make sense.

Re: Bad Mood : Falcon030 'Doom'

No janky HUD? I wonder if it's the SuperVidel? The bottom bar with health/ammo etc sort of bounces back and forth. Sometime soon I'll see if I can make a capture video of it. When it crashes it resets the computer and emits a loud noise as if the Demons had infested your speakers and now owned your...

Re: 32bit TOS icons?

I wouldn't be mega-surprised if the TOS4 desktop does something funny. It's not a show-stopper, but I really expected it to work on NVDI.

Re: 32bit TOS icons?

Ah, funny. I don't remember the details, but I expected it to work on NVDI. Will have to look into it one day, but it's not a priority at the moment.

It works on Teradesk because it uses the VDI to do the conversion from consecutive planes -> native graphics. The built-in desktop doesn't.

Re: 32bit TOS icons?

What you maybe mean is displaying icons of 16 or 256 colors on a truecolor display. Theoretically, TOS 4.04 should be able to do that, and teradesk will use that functionality. For what i can tell, it does not have fallback routines if the AES does not support coloricons, and will use the monochrom...

Re: 32bit TOS icons?

Hey everyone, I've tried setting my desktop to 32bit colour and the icons turn into white boxes, these seem to work fine in every other bit depth I've tried. I am trying to think if this also happened with TeraDesk/MiNT as well, but I think it was fine. Does TOS4.04 (or the 1.03c that the CT60e use...

Re: Spectre GCR

So has anybody seen that source code? Somebody might want make ROM-image and disk-image loader for that so we don't need that hardware :) No, but I'm all ears. I've fooled around a lot with the Basilisk 2 sources on the Falcon, and it becomes fairly messy quite easily unless using the PMMU and zapp...

Re: Double buffering using OS calls

shoggoth: on the contrary, using the same screen as VDI uses is exactly what I need. Will report results. :) How is that clean? :) Anyhoo - I guess you can escape a good spanking if you atleast lock the AES screen. I guess you really want offscreen bitmaps, which you flip through (but that means pe...

Re: Double buffering using OS calls

I bet you can access it with Setexc() or Ssystem()? This is actually quite clever. :) Using Setexc() for setting a system variable is quite a novel idea! (to me) In theory, one could do something as: Setexc(<screenpt vector>, new_physbase); // wait for VBL *and* new physbase to be set while (Setexc...

Re: Double buffering using OS calls

There's a system variable somewhere iirc which is fetched on VBL, perhaps it could be used instead (less overhead and unwanted side effects, perhaps). Yeah but then I'd need to be in Supervisor to fetch it. I can't use Supexec() to fetch it because FreeMiNT's way of doing Supexec() is super slow th...

Re: Double buffering using OS calls

I'm deeply struggling with a seemingly trivial issue: double buffering. I wanted to explore the possibility of not setting own VBL handler and use OS calls instead. This is on Falcon. Naturally, two choices comes into play: VsetScreen(log, phys, 3, resolution); and Vsync(); First I assumed that Vse...

Re: TT dual video output with GFX-card?

It does seem a real shame that the TT vga out is completely useless when using Nova, if it was usable as a 640x480 output it would be very handy. Dual-head operation in GEM is likely to be out of the question since this requires that both framebuffers line up in memory, but hardware-wise the TT VGA...

Re: TT dual video output with GFX-card?

I know Dal had setup his Cyrel to output VT52 from TT video out to one monitor while GFX card was connected to another monitor. Is this possible with other cards such as the Nova? At least in theory, yes. IIRC I wrote some half-generic console output driver for this once, I think LP has it. LP? :)

Re: The "New horizons" of the new Atari brand.

I see very little reason to worry or care about wether or not some (in practice unrelated) company supports the LGBT movement, since it's got absolutely nothing to do with what I consider to be "Atari" stuff. But then again, I'm a coder. Correction - if some company openly rejects the LGBT...

Isn't this just a case of different gamma in emulator vs. your particular monitor? (i.e. TOS/machine/emulator has nothing to do with it?).

Are you VuK?

In such case, IIRC you made some stack patches to Frontier Elite 2. Do you remember what you did? There are tons of things to fix/patch in that game, I'm just curious about what that particular patch was about..
