Re: Wanted: PLCC68 ITT Cannon socket

Finally bought a Exxos socket adaptor. The ITT Cannon socket price was out of my budget. Good to hear that you found a solution. I see that Exxos now has a few sockets in stock in his store, although of course the adapter is less pricey. Did the owner of the Black Cat Hardware store ever get back t...

Re: Wanted: PLCC68 ITT Cannon socket

Hi,

Finally bought a Exxos socket adaptor. The ITT Cannon socket price was out of my budget.
Although this solution is not a straight replacement (involved playing around a little bit trimming pins, soldering), proved to work flawlessly, so very happy to save another st :)

Re: Wanted: PLCC68 ITT Cannon socket

Hi czietz,

Thanks for pointing out that Chris could have some.
I'll contact him.

Yes, that is the site, but as I was unsure if I could post the address I prefered to omit it.
I even found that the admin is a member of this forum and sent him a pm, but couldn't contact either.

Cheers

Wanted: PLCC68 ITT Cannon socket

Hi, I'm trying to find a PLCC68 ITT Cannon socket for my STF MMU socket which is currently damaged and seems quite difficult. I've seen exxos socket adaptor, but I would prefer to mantain the motherboard original if possible. I found one site to have it, but despite doing a request I had no response...

Re: 520STE weird floppy disk drive problem

Finally the DMA chip arrived and I had time to perform the replacement. I removed the old DMA chip, soldered a 40 pin socket and placed the new DMA chip, which is a C025913-38 PH23-030 like the previous one. Actions performed: - Re-tested the floppy cable pin by pin. All continuity measurements are...

Re: 520STE weird floppy disk drive problem

Hi,

Found the exact same DMA ic on eBay and now it's on the way. Let's cross fingers.
Regarding the resistor pullups, weren't they discussed to be solutions for data corruption on hd's rather than floppy drives?

Re: 520STE weird floppy disk drive problem

Thanks for replying. Yes, the DMA chip is the usual suspect and I think it would be the only missing ic to be replaced. This particular one is a : C025913-38 PH23-030 9L2 05. Unfortunately those chips are virtually impossible to find (at least in Spain). I read Exxos' excelent DMA article some month...

Re: 520STE weird floppy disk drive problem

Hi there, I'm so sad not to have found this thread before! I have EXACTLY the same problems as kokkiklhs stated, in an almost-identical hardware: a 1040STE and some noise on the RF image (which is noticeable by seeing some noisy vertical lines). The problem in essence is the same: this computer came...

Re: New RAM testing program

Hi, Apologies for not being able to update the status since my last message. I've replaced the U45 ram IC, however the problem remains, so I will try to replace the U22 74LS373 as it's the only latch I have. Hope this time will fix it. Cheers! [EDIT 28/02/18: FINALLY FIXED!!] Checked both 74LS373 an...

Re: New RAM testing program

As you have already pointed out, it's always the same bit that is affected, more specifically the most significant bit, i.e. data bit 15 (D15). The ST (usually) has an individual RAM chip for each bit of data, so the one for D15 would be my first suspect. In the schematic you posted this is U45. No...

Re: New RAM testing program

Hi czietz, Thank you for creating such a useful (and reliable) piece of software! I really appreciate having a quick and straightforward method to perform a reliable mem test on the ST. Thanks to your app I've found that my suspects on my ST520FM rev. 70789 were right, seems that has some RAM ICs ba...
