Re: The last MIST

 discontinued, who can repair my mist. No jtag anymore. Let us switch to the Mister and make it to the best fpga platform MiSt Repo Deleted Why do you delete your repo if I use my original Lotharek made MiST everyday? We are still active users... And I wanted to download all your new arcade co...

Re: MIST C64 core

I agree, thanks for the great work! It's great to see some of the cores getting updated. With the old SID fixes and the new compatibility improvements, the C64 core is indeed extremely compatible now, just a few minor glitches in a small number of games.

Re: MiST - Amiga core and Ethernet

Agreed. While you wouldn't exactly be able to browse the modern web, being able to grab files directly from Aminet or transfer files across the network to the MiST would be useful... Or just to run an IRC client and party like it's '95 :P Unfortunately the AGA core hasn't been updated in about a yea...

Re: Mist expansion (in theory)

New hardware won't make new cores appear :) the MiST can still benefit from core upgrades. Yep, having used the machine for a few months, I'd say the biggest limitation currently are the actual cores. I mean some of them are remarkably compatible, but compatibility and performance could always be i...

Re: Mist Amiga Partitions (noob)

Yep, that's the easiest method unless you need more than 4 GB. I keep storing stuff straight on the one FAT32 partition, use it pretty much like I use any other partition on the "Amiga side", I even run games and other software right from it. Crazy me :) The craziest thing is, it doesn't ...

Re: Mist Amiga Partitions (noob)

I only use hdf images on a 32GB card, which then is mounted with fat95 so I can maintain the content from AmigaOS. Yep, that's the easiest method unless you need more than 4 GB. However it would be very convenient for me to have a ~7.5 GB partition to store a bunch av archives, games, demos, mods e...

Re: Mist Amiga Partitions (noob)

try 7500MB and see if it will work. I use 7000MB as second partition. On Minimig i use 1GB of HDF file as a primary boot HDD, and second SD partition as a second HDD. I use SFS for 7GB partition. Works good. Make sure you use quick format. Full format of big partitions may destroy the data. Hi, I t...

Re: AMIGA: MIST vs Pi3 vs Vampire/real Amiga (4000?)

Yeah, only a few late 90's 3D games will give you problems on the MIST (and some 3D software etc. that needs FPU), but those games didn't run great on real Amigas either unless you had a 68040 or ideally a 68060 @ 50+ MHz. My A1200 had a 68030 @ 40 MHz, slightly faster than the MIST (with a recent c...

Re: MIST and AMIGA core hardrive idea

I agree, some easier way to access files would be useful. For now I just mount the HDF file on the SD card in WinUAE and transfer files to it that way, then pop the SD card back into the MIST. Still hoping we might get Ethernet support at some point in the future, that would make things much more co...

Re: MiST VGA Compatibility

Just tried your instructions and it actually worked https://imgur.com/a/f5GJw :D Thanks a lot for the help.
So it seems the high resolution b&w mode doesn't work with my monitor, but ST Medium and Low color modes seem to work just fine, which should be enough for most games and demos.

Re: MiST VGA Compatibility

Yes, I meant the Atari ST core. Haven't tried the 2600/800/5200 yet. Setting scandoubler_disable=1 causes out of range error with the Amiga and other cores which worked before, so my monitor definitely needs 30 KHz. With the Amiga core running, my monitor identifies the resolution as 720x576 @ 50 Hz...

Re: MiST VGA Compatibility

I just got the Mist and I've been testing it with my GW2750HM monitor. According to the specs it has Horizontal Refresh Rate 30 - 83 kHz, Vertical Refresh Rate 50 - 76 Hz. So far, most cores have worked just fine and provide a crisp image. I've tried Amiga (NTSC and PAL at everything from 320x200 to...

Re: AMIGA: MIST vs Pi3 vs Vampire/real Amiga (4000?)

Well I finally got my MIST board so I was also able to test for myself. I tested all of the cores from Somuchguru. The only build that performed notably faster is minimig-mist-1_0-newcpu which gave me those 12.5 MIPS, but it has corrupted graphics and is known for compatibility issues. The others ar...

Re: How actively are you using your MiST?

most core are actually quite capable, so if you're enjoying Atari, Atari ST, Amiga, C64, ZX Spectrum, Amstrad and many more (sorry for the missing ones, you have a complete list there: https://github.com/mist-devel/mist-board/wiki/CoreStatus ), it absolutely worth it! Bear in mind there is no save ...

Re: AMIGA: MIST vs Pi3 vs Vampire/real Amiga (4000?)

Ok, so going back on topic, this is the information I get from SysInfo on my MiST: 12.9x the speed of a A600 5.6x the speed of a A1200 1.47x the speed of a A3000 0.37x the speed of a A4000 So Sorgelig is right, nowhere near an A4000, but faster than any other Amiga. In this older video, he's gettin...

Re: How actively are you using your MiST?

Interesting thread, as I've been considering getting a MiST for some time but never got around to actually ordering one, for fear of buyer's remorse in case I don't use it enough. However it does seem like a lot of people use theirs semi-regularly which does make me less hesitant. I realize there ar...
