Re: How to record basic listings with a MIST to feel sensations of old tapes

I like the idea of using a mini-disc. I think I'm going to give that a go!

Re: Acorn Electron core

I have added tape loading from external tape through the ADC pins as I did for the Oric. The exact same code worked here too. Again all credit goes to Oldgit the original porter of the core. I do find loading UEF files useful, as there are plenty of things like cover tapes that exist in the TOSEC th...

Re: MiSTer (FPGA): Oric1 / Atmos Core

Oldgit - perfect - long term the internal file parsing has to be the way forward.
Sorgelig - i think it was the line: assign ‘Z to the ADC bus, maybe waking it up.

Ron - this is for MiSTer. I think to be able to do it in MiST through UART you will need to solder a circuit for input.

Re: MiSTer (FPGA): Oric1 / Atmos Core

I'm happy to announce I managed to implement tape loading through the ADC, with ground pins and pin 1 connected to a mono tape cable. It seems to be as sensitive as the original Oric for tape loading, maybe a little be better. Have fun! Next to implement the easy tape loading (for the user, not the ...

Re: MiSTer (FPGA): Oric1 / Atmos Core

All useful to know which works with actual tape input, since I can look at more examples of code that is working. Currently, I'm just looking at the Spectrum for my example, so only one to go by.

Thanks!

Re: MiSTer (FPGA): Oric1 / Atmos Core

Thanks Sorgelig. Yes, well the logic seems sound. But nothing happening right now.

There are reports that other cores on Mistica or maybe MiST was able to load from external means. If that is true does anyone know which core was used and what the input pin was??

thanks.

Re: MiSTer (FPGA): Oric1 / Atmos Core

Trying to connect up an external tape to the ADC and the Oric core. The emu module declares the A to D converter link this: module emu ( //ADC inout [3:0] ADC_BUS, There is 'oricatmos.vhd' that has the following entity: entity ORIC is port ( -- K7 connector K7_TAPEIN : in std_logic; K7_TAPEOUT : out...

Re: MiSTer (FPGA): Oric1 / Atmos Core

Asking for help here - would it be possible to connect up the ltc2038 module for ADC from the Spectrum core to the Oric, TAPE_IN CB1 pin? In theory that should allow it to read tapes from external sources like the Spectrum?

I'm trying to code it but I am such a novice. Any help appreciated.

Re: Oric Atmos core

Looking at the code it seems the tape input maybe connected to the UART, which is connected to the MIDI port? I made up a breadboard cable to try to bridge the mono output from my PC speaker to the MIDI connectors, but I don't seem so to get any signs of life. Am I right about the code being hooked ...

Re: MiSTer (FPGA): Oric1 / Atmos Core

Currently there are implementations of Oric on both MiST and MiSTer. What is the state of tape loading? I note from above that it should not be possible to load from actual tape on MiSTer, but is it possible on MiST through the audio jack? I have not been able to get that to work currently. It would...

Re: 48k Speccy

Sorg - I'm at a real loss on this one. I really don't get what's going on. If I try to boot into 48k mode I get a black border and just frozen screen. I've update everything multiple times. Really weird.

48k Speccy

I seem to be having an issue with MiSTer with the latest ZX-Spectrum core. If I try to take it into the 48k mode it just freezes. I don't think it can find the appropriate ROM. The notes of the ROMs in the github page does say something about "use specific 48k rom". Anybody know anything a...

Compiling code for DE10-Nano/MiSTer

Is there available any zipped project file that I could load into Quartus (I'm using Quartus Prime 18.1 Lite Edition) and compile it? I get the error that build_id.v is cannot be opened (I guess it's not there)? Before I can start playing around with cores, I really need to be able to compile an alr...

Re: ScummVM running on FrameBuffer

Totally lost in getting the resolution right. I have ScummVM in a small window. A lot of changes to the ScummVM_2_0_0.sh file just result in a message about can't get a resolution of 640x480....

Any ideas? what is generally the advised setting in the .sh file and the Mister.ini?

Thanks!

Re: ScummVM running on FrameBuffer

So do you need to move files into different folders to be able to launch? Not games, just the bare ScummVM?

EDIT: Never mind - it was the VGA_SCALER=1 - i've never put that to 1 and so always had a very different experience through VGA than HDMI! All working now, thanks for the help.

Re: ScummVM running on FrameBuffer

Is there a recommended way to install this?

I downloaded the pack from Github. I ran the script and it did install something. After running the 2.0.0 sh script it just is stuck on the start ScummVM. Any ideas?

Thanks

Eventually it would be good to implement PLUS type hardware support, since there were hardware sprites and scrolling. As fascination of capturing the technology of the day it would certainly be interesting. Who knows maybe one day I may even know enough about Verilog to try it myself! (I can try - d...
