Re: Exist any Intel x86 port of Atari TOS?

TOS was unique to Atari, but its user interface, GEM, did exist in a PC version (actually Atari have ported it from PC). TOS is a mix of CP/M and DOS. Initially Atari wanted to use GEM on CP/M 68k.

Re: PC utility to manipulate ROM images

I think it should be only a case of adding/removing a few first bytes. Unfortunately there are two possible sets of "magic" 4 bytes used to distinguish between 2 types of cartridges: $ABCDEF42 - application cartridge $FA52235F - diagnostic cartridge STeEM's STC image has this 4 bytes set t...

Re: PC utility to manipulate ROM images

Only file required to run the program is the cartman.exe in /CartMan/bin/Release directory. all this already can be done out of the box with a combination of m68k-atari-mint-objcopy (comes with the gcc compiler toolchain) and dd (comes with every Linux distribution or MiNT). Of course, but does it h...

PC utility to manipulate ROM images

I don't know where to put it on the forum, but I've done a small .NET utility, which I've called CartMan. It can be used to split 16-bit image into two (L/H E/O) 8-bit ROMs (and vice versa), do a byteswap in 16-bit ROM image, and "stack" multiple ROMs into one ROM image. So it may be used ...

Re: Y2K date fix for 2017?

Some time ago I have described, that TOS handles date correctly until year 2027 without ANY modifications. It holds years since 1900 in binary value on 7 bits. I've been interfacing an RTC through IKBD. The stock Atari Control Panel tries to send a year value of $B8 for 2018 (it is 118 in "pseu...

Re: Atari Falcon IDE to CF

The HDUTIL.PRG is a kind of menu/launcher tool for various other tools. One of the tools allows you to install and another one to configure (R/W Cache, SCSI clock, color resolution) the ICD Boot.

BTW
PPera was right in what he'd said.

Re: Atari Test Cart

Falcon Cart is 128kB, and it needs ROM4 to be the most significant bit of the Address Bus. I've got on of the 64kB slot only multicatrs, and I thing it would be great if someone would convert SysInfo and YAART that they could be run from this cartridge it has exactly 2 slots free (actually 8 + 2, be...

Re: Very Sick MSTE - Need some help to bring back to life if posible

4 bombs is illegal instruction error, likely to be caused by a stuck data or address bus line. I was recently "fighting" with a SuperMon cartridge that started to throw 4 bombs during startup. Reason - loose A5 pin on one of the ROMs. So likely you have killed your TOS 2.06 ROMs. No big de...

I forgot about stereo RCAs, but that shouldn't be a problem to drill two holes. Jaguar paddle ports will not collide with STFM bottom case, they just won't be accessible.

Yes, you have a link on the schematics:
https://drive.google.com/open?id=13qD56 ... iPndieUb_K

See if your cart has EEPROM A15 line connected to CART /ROM4 line or this A15 line is controlled by a switch (in your case a counter based soft-switch).

Re: Falcon diagnostic cart

Slot size depends on high address selection circuit (ROM switch), but in your cart it is likely to be 64kB, not 128kB. You have to look at the address decoding logic to tell if you can use only 64kB slots or also 128kB ones. Usually you can't mix slot sizes (but on this linked above it actually is m...

Re: Insert disk....

In order to TOS detect a disk change, the disk must be write protected, yet most games don't rely on TOS, but rather pools the FDD or waits for a key/fire.

Some of that was based on the floppy disks themselves. Sometimes memories are deceptive ;) DS DD - 2 sides * 80 tracks * 9 sectors per track * 512 bytes per sector = 737280 bytes (720 KiB) DS HD - 2 sides * 80 tracks * 18 sectors per track * 512 bytes per sector = 1474560 bytes (1440 KiB = 1.406MiB...

The trace on right to C87 is not "slightly corroded" it is completely dissolved... same with 3 vias below it - they're probably gone as well.

Re: Retronic on my Falcon or TT never worked?

If you have a GOTEK with either Flash-Floppy or HxC firmware, you should be able to connect it to Atari and use right out of the box. Only remember to connect the floppy cable the right way (on STf/STe it will be "upside-down"). For either firmware, you have to have a FAT32 formatted pendr...

Re: IKBD RTC clock sync

I'll answer to myself. ST version of Atari Control Panel does sync the TOS time with IKBD on load, only STe version doesn't do that. Apparently they forgot to fix that in TOS 1.62, as STE_FIX, which is meant solely for 1.06 does that, while TOS 1.62 still doesn't sync the clock without the STE_FIX.

Re: Survey 2018 for a new batch of CosmosEx and MicroCosmos.

The FCC rules concern complete devices only (or kits for making a complete device). Any expansion module aka add-on is just sub-assembly. It won't work on its own. The "new" device will be a stock computer with the add-on installed.
