Re: Acorn Archimedes

And this is why I feel radical fanboys are detrimental to the retro scene... I appreciate your love for the Archie, but its kind of sad that you have such hate for another machine. The Archie was greater than the Amiga in some things, the Amiga was greater in others. Defend your point of view all yo...

Re: AMIGA: MIST vs Pi3 vs Vampire/real Amiga (4000?)

Wow... that is a huge gap in performance (almost 2x).

I would be interested in seeing the results from some of the other users (to see if I am doing something wrong).

Would the rest of the community care to share?

Thanks

I second that... I thought the same thing a few weeks back.

I believe MiST has everything that is required for a proper MT-32 emulation and would be great to use it on an old DOS pc...

For ZX Spectrum and other small cores I also got a ZXUNO or a RPi for Amibian :)

How does the ZX Uno stack up against the MiST (for the Spectrum core)?

Nice!

I'm pretty sure this will massively attract people to the MiSTer.

Good job!

Re: Flea Ohm Zero - FPGA AMIGA (Minimig) in a RPi-Zero-Formfactor

This looks interesting, although I am not sure how much size matters for these boards.

The current size of products like MiST is already quite compact to emulate an Amiga, can easily fit (almost) anywhere and it has more ports.

Nonetheless, it is still an interesting option.

Thanks for sharing.

Re: How actively are you using your MiST?

Just out of curiosity, how many of the Verilog/VHDL specialists in the community are capable of developing new chips (not only port cores)? All of them?

I guess the skill level required will be quite different, no?

Anyway, it is always more than the skill I have :-)

Hi Sorgelig, To make it clear, my intention was to discuss a feature I felt was important for a project I am enthusiastic about, not whine. I regret you read it that way and I apologize for it. I would rather have you believe I have the project's best interest at heart (even if I am wrong) rather th...

Re: I/O Board thread

USB?? There is already USB. Connect the hub and get more USB ports. Yes I know that I can plug in a USB Hub, but if we ever want to see the MiSTer as a "product" like the MiST and not just an enthusiast project, should this not be considered? How else will we ever build a case to fit the ...

Re: How actively are you using your MiST?

Interesting to me would be to know which cores are most used. Why hours, days of work to a core for 3 people? I'm not sure if I agree with you on this one. Even if you only have 3 MiST users for one of your cores, you will still be building a sound foundation for all future FPGA platforms where you...

Re: I/O Board thread

Hi,

Are you considering adding new USB ports to the I/O Board? (or even MIDI ports?).

This is the only thing missing for this to be much better than the MiST in every way possible.

Thanks.

There are many cores around and i'm the only one who is porting. So i simply have no time to do a deep porting. From what I have seen you are carrying this project by yourself, but let me tell you that you have done an amazing job for a "one man show". It is a pity that you haven't yet be...

Whoever makes his cross in the second answer is to blame for the fact that it is so. Already do something for the community? I have often asked for help, there are always the same 5 people who help and test. As long as Core developers have to work on the Wiki (Till, Sorgelig), they have no time to ...

How actively are you using your MiST?

Since things seem to be pretty quiet around here, I have decided to create this pool to assess how actively is the community using their MiSTs.

I understand that I will have to wait quite a bit to have a full picture (as the not so regular members come by) :)

Re: MiSTer: MiST on Terasic DE10-nano board.

The GEM interface is frankly uglier than Amiga Workbench, but power wise the ST is pretty much on par with the Amiga, with the main differences being a slightly faster 68000 (8Mhhz on the ST vs 7.16 on the Amiga) and all the additional customs chips in the Amiga (Agnus, Denise and Paula). Other than...

Just one question. Is this problem a limitation of the MiST that cannot be overcome, or is it just a matter of updating the core to support exact timings?

Thanks

MiSTer for Dummies

Hi Guys, Ever since getting my MiST I have been a huge fan of FPGA's and what they have to offer. Unfortunately it seems that development of cores is currently stalled for the MiST and the interest in the MiSTer seems to be growing. Unfortunately for a regular user like me, I am still a bit puzzled ...
