Re: Would MiSTer ever be able to run a Neo Geo core?

So, from an FPGA perspective it fits, as well as from a memory perspective. That's great news! What about performance wise? The Neo Geo has several CPU/GPUs ranging from 4Mhz to 24Mhz. The day we can have a NeoGeo running on FPGA will be a great day indeed. Thanks to all the developers for their eff...

Re: Analogue Super NT

am i correct it plays games only from cartridges? With the original firmware, yes. But you do have available a "Jailbreak" that will allow running games from the SD Card. I have tested it and it works flawlessly for all games except the ones that use extra hardware on the cartridge (like ...

Re: Analogue Super NT

Got my Super NT yesterday, and I have to say... It's an amazing piece of kit. The sheer polish level of the interface and the FPGA simulation are incredible! It has the best image I've ever seen from any SNES and no noticeable lag. The way I see it it's a great companion for my MiST, as I use the Mi...

Would MiSTer ever be able to run a Neo Geo core?

Hi,

The question is in the title.

Would the MiSTer ever be able to run a Neo Geo core, if it is ever done?

Or would it require a bigger/more powerful FPGA?

Cheers,

Re: Core availability on the MiSTer

The risk is to buy closed source platform and fully depend on manufacturer. If it will stop to produce the hardware or updates, then you won't have any chance that someone else will pick it up and continue. You do make a valid point on the Hardware part, but I disagree with your view when it comes ...

Re: Core availability on the MiSTer

For me, porting absolutely every core from MiST is not a target. I understand that. I was just providing this information because it is useful for the users when choosing their FPGA platform, and to be honest it was more to show how far the MiSTer has progressed than to linger on it's faults. Altho...

Re: Core availability on the MiSTer

This is not full comparison. Cores on MiSTer usually are more advanced and have many problems fixed - so they are far more playable. So, you cannot compare by just name. That is a fair point, albeit not the purpose of my initial post. Regardless, I agree with you that to provide a better comparison...

Core availability on the MiSTer

[Edited to reflect the comments from Sorgelig] Hi, It's been great to see how far MiSTer has come in such a short time. Sorgelig is the engine of this project, but you can already see other members stepping in and supporting the project. At this pace, MiSTer will surpass the MiST core count in no ti...

Hi, Just thought I'd share with you my MiST core collection. https://thumb.ibb.co/fCkaHS/Mi_ST_Cores.jpg You can check the full resolution version by clicking on the image. and yes, before you say anything, I know I can have all of these on the same SD card, but I like the mechanical act of choosing...

Where are all the arcade cores?

Hi, I was looking into building one SD card with all the arcade cores, but when I started looking for it in the official page here I can only find cores for the following games: - Galaxian - Invaders - Moon Patrol - Pacman - Pengo I seem to remember people mentioning there are dozens of arcade cores...

Re: [MiST] [ST Core] Is there any way to slow down the mouse speed?

I bought on purpose an ASUS Cerberus because it has a physical DPI button to cycle between DPI settings. This way you don't even need to connect the mouse to another PC to change configuration. I highly recommend it. Although the connection is standard, the DPI settings are not and reality is that t...

What a surprise, following the instructions made all the difference :)

Jokes apart, it's now working.

It was mainly a problem of not using the correct directory structure.

Thank you so much for your help!

Atari 5200 Core Problems

Hi, I am trying the Atari 5200 core for the first time, and all I am getting is a garbled screen after I press F12. I can see there is a menu under all the garbage (with 5 options) as I can move up and down (and the garbage on screen will change accordingly), but I cannot seem to do anything out of ...

Re: [Solved] MiST Hardware Revisions? MSX-Core-Problem

MSX don´t support SDHC cards, only SD and 2Gb max. Crystal Clear... I'll have to get one then. Thanks The core of Archimedes I have not spent much time, I tried 3 or 4 games and they worked fine at 140mhz without flickering, to solve those problems the creator of the core should do it, I do not hav...

And just tested the MSX core... gettint the "This core does not support SDHC cards." message. Was this not supposed to have been corrected on the previous version? (I may have my facts wrong :))

Re: MiST Hardware Revisions? MSX-Core-Problem

Actually besides the MSX core the Acorn Archimedes is problematic too, dont't know if it's for the same reason or not, but the Archie is very picky in aspect of SD-cards... Also i´m fix Archimedes core, this core don´t work with older sdram MT48LC16M16A2P-75 http://www.mediafire.com/file/1myv3d7jvd...

Re: MiSTer on DE10-Standard - needed?

If you could just re-use the cores from the regular MiSTer, I would not mind, but if it needs to be recompiled/maintained separately, then I'd rather not do it, as it will fracture the market even more.

Re: Combining cores

It should be the same as described by Sorgelig. You would have to ensure that the new "hardware" communicated somehow with the base computer being simulated, but you would still have to develop operating system drivers to ensure the harware was recognized and properly used. You can check o...

Re: Minimig (Amiga) core discussion

There is a place and time for everything and core developing is as important as these discussions because they may trigger interest in core development from new users. At the very least, they educate people (myself included) and that is by itself a very noble purpose. From your explanations, I under...
