Re: MiSTer: MiST on Terasic DE10-nano board.

@sorgelig : about the choice to use sdram instead of the built-in ddr. Can you explain what is the difference between the two kind of ram and how it is easier to program the fpga to use outside sdram that to use the built in ddr ? Because when I try to understand the differences between the two, I g...

That's why it's called MiSTer. Cores must be ported. But from what I understand, the porting should be much easier from MiST than from another board.

Re: Genesis / Megadrive core ported to MiST

It sounds great.
I have questions though :
- why not use SRAM instead of SDRAM? Is it because it's more expensive and not available in high capacity?
- the is no SD card port, where do you store the files?

No it's not strange. It easiest to open a file and write at some position than to create a file.

@braincell: where did you get the sources from? They're not available from the mist repository. i know that the sources from darfpga are available but there has been some modification since, ie by sorgelig. Plus sources from darfpga don't compile for mist, they have to be ported to mist. I'm asking ...

Re: C64 core problems.....

The jiffy dos is in the rom. It's easiest to have two cores, one with jiffy dos and another with regular rom.
There is no need to have a selector into the mist f12 menu. Otherwise there are plenty of other alternate roms that would be interesting to have.

Re: ST Mini (Mist Clone)

This mini mist doesn't seem as good as the mist. It lacks second db9 joystick port and has only 2 USB port.
Plus the case is 3D printed case so the quality might be poor.
I don't think it's worth saving 40€.
The price is 160€, the mist is at 199€.

@bernouilli: Curiously, that device has VGA in and VGA out. What's the point/purpose converting to the same output (like those HDMI boxes with HDMI in to out)? Its VGA input is a not a real VGA input, the signal in input is something like the one provided by the mist in 15khz mode, here VGA only st...

It depends on the core, some cores such as bbc only accept regular sd card.

Re: amstrad cpc 6128

I confirm. The screen is well centered on my pvm and the osd is working. The osd still need some work to appear correctly in 15khz mode but it's ok, you can mount a *.dsk and run programs.
However sometimes the keyboard doesn't respond and after a while it does.

Re: Jupiter Ace arrives at MiST

I wonder where he did get this? Has this platform been ported to some other FPGA? Did gehstock ported it to Mist?
Or did he just used the zx81 core with the rom of the Jupiter ace? Since I believe that the Jupiter ace has the same board as theczx81.

Re: MIST and AV signal

You must use some video converter to convert RGBHV to composite. There are devices that do this and are quite cheap : http://www.ebay.com/itm/272579761437 But I don't know how would the quality be since there is, in such device, modification of the resolution. I think it's best if you use some direc...

My mistake. I tested the 5 cores 5.8.14 (the official and the 4 experimentals) but none worked. In fact I tested them on a 2 GB SD card formated in FAT and no core worked, the trouble is that the core itself doesn't work: I only get a gray screen and when I press F12, this is what I get : http://img...

Nope, it still doesn't work with the scart cable. If your vga monitor support 15khz, it will work on your vga. The trouble is the sync signals that are still separated.

On some TVs with multiple SCART, only one or two SCART connector support RGB, the others support only video composite. And only a few TV do support s-video through SCART. But I don't know if there are TV that don't support RGB at all. But when the SCART isn't connected to support RGB, you don't get ...

Re: New MIST core: PC Engine!

There must be a problem in the signal that your pvm can't cope with it. Something like a signal too strong. And since the trouble is only with this core, it's likely there is something unusual with it. This is something that you may see using a oscillosope to compare between the diffrent cores.
