Re: MiSTer: MiST on Terasic DE10-nano board.

I had the same issue when I received the board. I couldn't get a picture through HDMI. The trouble was from the hdmi cable even though the cable was ok with other devices. I changed the hdmi cable and now it's ok. Also make sure you insert the cable fully in the hdmi socket. When the board is new, i...

Thanks. I think it's good this way.

Edit : it's almost good because the topics transfered in FPGA Chat are Stills visibles in the FPGA category :

Re: Moving MIST (etc) sub-forum into it's own main forum area

On your screen shot there a part with Forum as title and FPGA as entry. The title should be FPGA based clones and it should contains the 4 subforums. Ah yes, didn't spot that before. I will have to ask some advice on this, because if I change the format from 'forum' to 'category', things happen wit...

I'm not sure it's big enough to work fanless.

Re: MiSTer: MiST on Terasic DE10-nano board.

Thanks. I tried on another Tv and it worked. Back on my previous TV, it started working after I changed the HDMI cable. That's strange since this HDMI cable works with other devices but not with the DE10. Now I have to wait to receive my usb-to-go hub and for mpattonm to build the expansions board a...

Re: MiSTer: MiST on Terasic DE10-nano board.

I finally managed to get time to test the board. I created the microsd card using sd installer. I then added the C64 core at the root of the exFAT partition. The menu is present as menu.rbf. But when I turn everything on, I don't get an image on my tv. Is there something I'm missing ? Like the miste...

Same question to you, Sorgelig, to try to learn HDL ... As Sorgelig wrote, you can find a lot of stuff on internet : Some (ggod) tutorials : http://www.fpga4fun.com/ http://www.asic-world.com/verilog/veritut.html https://docs.numato.com/kb/learning-fpga-verilog-beginners-guide-part-1-introduction/ ...

Re: Introducing the VeriSNES (FPGA-based SNES)

The problem is how many people are willing to pay for this, and how much.
Personally I would give 10-15€ for having this core. Some people would give much more. But will there it be 100000 people?
I think that he can make like $40000-$60000 out of it but not much more.

Re: MiSTer: MiST on Terasic DE10-nano board.

Would it be possible to have the sdram board be vertical but not going up? As I see it on the picture above, if you use the same 90° connector used for the vertical sdram and solder it the other way around, you might be able to place the sdram board against the 2x20 connector. This way it won't take...

Re: MiSTer: MiST on Terasic DE10-nano board.

I guess you're both right, even though in my case the expansion board is mandatory for the original video output. And with so many connectors, it would be very hard to insert this board in the first place.

Re: MiSTer: MiST on Terasic DE10-nano board.

How about having only one pcb for both the connectors (vga, buttons and optical) and the sdram? The pcb can have holes to access the arduino connector beneath or it might be better to have itself an arduino connector on it that plugs into the arduino connector in the mister.

Re: MiSTer: MiST on Terasic DE10-nano board.

@sorgelig : about the choice to use sdram instead of the built-in ddr. Can you explain what is the difference between the two kind of ram and how it is easier to program the fpga to use outside sdram that to use the built in ddr ? Because when I try to understand the differences between the two, I g...

That's why it's called MiSTer. Cores must be ported. But from what I understand, the porting should be much easier from MiST than from another board.

Re: Genesis / Megadrive core ported to MiST

It sounds great.
I have questions though :
- why not use SRAM instead of SDRAM? Is it because it's more expensive and not available in high capacity?
- the is no SD card port, where do you store the files?

Re: C64 core problems.....

The jiffy dos is in the rom. It's easiest to have two cores, one with jiffy dos and another with regular rom.
There is no need to have a selector into the mist f12 menu. Otherwise there are plenty of other alternate roms that would be interesting to have.
