Re: 4MB Upgrade & 16MHz Booster progress

Im salivating at the thought of this new res coupled with a HW overscan mod, the twin shifter mod for 12bpp palette and beg Doug to do a custom copy of Photochrome/AGT for it...mmm ;) The above mods could be done relatively simply/inexpensively and it would turn the STFM into an interesting STE alte...

Re: 4MB Upgrade & 16MHz Booster progress

A good writeup there. Troed: "Could Atari possibly have enabled these video modes in the STE, back in 1989? " Well, Ive been studying the TT documentation lately and somewhere along the way, I remember seeing some sort of information that basically stated that the TT shifter in some form, ...

Re: 4MB Upgrade & 16MHz Booster progress

Thats great news!

Ive been hoping someone would pick up where Chris left the double pixel clock observations with his booster tests. I hope you get the floppy drive stable at some point.

I also have one of these boards! :) I posted about it here: http://www.atari-forum.com/viewtopic.php?p=327344#p327344 I actually soldered in some audio out sockets. The board looked very clean, as if they had not actually been desoldered, but came without them from Atari maybe? My ROMs have differen...

Im still absorbing info for the TT, so not 100% sure which is which. Im thinking the SIMM board is TT/alternate RAM and the 2 similar boards are the ST ram?

Im going to be looking into optimising 8-bit palettes for some Falcon/TT stuff at a later date so would be very interested in an Atari 256 colour version.

Unusual TT and ROMs

I feel VERY lucky. I have managed to accquire an unusual TT mainboard and within a week of that, an empty TT shell with shielding! Anyway, apart from now being the proud owner of a lovely TT, I thought I might share some pictures of the unusual mainboard and its modified TOS ROMs here. According to ...

Re: Assembled list of LCD/CRT VGA monitors supporting Atari low/med res

Ok well, so far I have also tested a SONY PVM20L2 broadcast monitor, but thats from a ST<>SCART lead (as I dont have a ST>RGBHV BNC lead which is what the monitor takes). Its a 15Khz unit, but will take a lot of abuse of the V/H border areas and actually has a button which staggers the H/V sync so t...

Re: Assembled list of LCD/CRT VGA monitors supporting Atari low/med res

Just thought I'd chip in on the NEC 1990FXp: Plain ST modes are displayed ok. May need some adjustments to the size/position/scale settings for Falcon resolutions though.(Auto adjustment doesnt seem to help here). Also does not like any interlace modes whatsoever, so maybe not the best option for so...

Re: Atari and Amiga dev coming from modern systems

@mikro: As it stands at the moment, as much as I think Dougs routines are absolutely hardcore optimized and amazing, I believe I would struggle to get to grips with the whole C setup, as I dont really have a 'working' (as in not having to constantly check the C language and GCC syntax manuals every ...

Would be great if you could bodge it onto the Megabus! lol Cheaper than a Pak68/3 :)

Out of interest, what is the fastest speed the 68030 is rated at in this form factor? Like rustynutt implies, the 030@32 might be useful...especially if it will OC.

@mikro: Well, Im not 100% sure yet about Mint. Havent really looked into it greatly. It seems like extra complication and possibly more headache. Re: Atari and Amiga dev coming from modern systems

@Zarchos: Well, I was basically looking into the frustrations of learning to set up a programming environment for mainly M68k C=/Atari machines, but what the hell! I have an Archie too, an A5000. I have been itching to use it and even started reading the Peter Cockerell book you mentioned. However, ...

Atari and Amiga dev coming from modern systems

Some of you here may have seen my posts about my bumbling around trying to fix, setup and eventually get to the stage where I can program for the Atari systems. I was wondering what other peoples experiences are, coming from other systems? (e.g. PC or maybe Mac) Ive tried to get a 'fast track' Atari...

Oh. Thats interesting to know.

TBH, I would never have even touched the inf file had I not run some program that messed it up. However, as stated earlier, its good to learn this stuff anyway.

Actually, what I was thinking about doing was perhaps a little too complex. A VME>ISA bridge with a PC GFX card would be alot less hassle!

Re: Corrupt Newdesk.inf help

Now if only I can figure out how to remove the oversize 800x600 VDI/AES setting from my older saved newdesk.inf I wont have to scrap it and lose my cecile HDD partitions info. I think you're mixing unrelated stuff together. I'm 99.9% sure that Cecile doesn't store anything in NEWDESK.INF. If you're...

Re: TT Hi res in colour?

Yes, similar. The C128 had lower dotclock (~16Mhz) so I cant see a problem speed wise, but could not a more modern (i.e. faster speed) implementation be made in a modern PLD device fairly simply for the higher (~70Khz) scan rate?

For those who need information on the older desktop.inf file, I found that ST News Vol.6 Issue.2 had a very concise article by Richard Karsmakers, with a very clear layout describing whats in the inf file. Re: TT Hi res in colour?

Well, there seems to have been another ECL>VGA adapter made for the TT (the tenox). I was just wondering if someone with one of these (or equivalent) had tried to 'inject' colour information into the signal by adding a RAMDAC colour board.

Thats the article that I was referring to.

I have seen books covering the AES/VDI, but they were published well before the Falcon appeared and I expect all the later features are not documented there.
