Re: New TT + FALCON/ST PC-like case.

Just a thought, but I actually have my MSTE/TTs in their original cases and really dont have a problem with the case at all. However, (as can be seen by the above requests) more people seem to have been dissapointed that Atari put the Falcon in an old ST case, so would probably prefer that re housed...

Re: TT Hi res in colour?

@ctirad: Yeah on second read of your post I realized you were talking St/e shifter rather than the TT monochrome shifter chip.

Still, if you can do something with the ST one, it can probably be used to improve the TT!

Looks similar to that quickshot 'thing' that appears to be a trackball but is just a fat round joystick.

Re: TT Hi res in colour?

If the resolution was made to be a bit lower this could have a fairly practical framerate along with 8bp+ colours. Anything above 320x480x8 would be good! But the question is, who will write the software driver? If you can design the thing, then I will volunteer to write the drivers! Hows that...

Re: TT Hi res in colour?

Not ATM.

Im tied down with looking after my newborn baby, so I have not even set up the Atari machines in their new home. However, I have been reading up on my 'shifter theory' and hope to achieve something in that direction when I do manage to let loose on the TT! :)

Re: Doom for TT030.

Purely CPU based Quake ports are even less playable than CPU based Doom ports. How about the Wolfenstein port then? If anything, its too fast for the TT! :) It can be picked up from Ray/TSCC. I know its not quite Quake or Doom, which was the original request, but its less painful to play on stock h...

Either way, its absolutely amazing. I have total respect for guys like Doug and yourself for pushing some cool new gaming based code frameworks/languages. It can only encourage more people to make games for the Atari platform. And with your track record, Im sure you will squeeze some more juice from...

Great work! :D Ive been looking at Raptor Basic recently. Its great news to me that youve extended it for F030. I would be interested in seeing the speed differences between Falcon/Jag. Would be amazing tool to have especially with some TT/ST/e support eventually! ;) Good little game. My hat goes of...

Re: Hero: The Realm - a hack n slash adventure platformer

Um... Not sure how much interest you will get for a Raspberry Pi (is it also Archimedes?) kickstarter game advertisement in an Atari 32 bit (Falcon/TT etc) forum. Perhaps Zarchos will chip in at some point if he decides to come back :D Out of interest however, what language/library did you use to ma...

Re: Noobs use C, real programmers use Basic

I have coded a fairly complete (90%+ of the coding done) PC game in a modified basic dialect that has some OO functionality. That's something else and has nothing to do with coding in BASIC on the ST. The topic starter or forum section doesnt actually stipulate the ST dialect of BASIC at all, but I...

Re: Noobs use C, real programmers use Basic

In my experience if you have a well designed program, then the coding part is more or less trivial, in whatever language you prefer. Then you have never tried to make something even remotely complex in BASIC. AFAIK there is no BASIC for the ST that has any features for structuring data except old s...

Re: "Waving" RGB output - cause?

If you say the LCD is doing this as well as the CRT then maybe he is placing the monitors/cabling/STE next to something emitting RF interference (unshielded speakers)?? An LCD screen would not be affected like this unless the actual signal into it (cable or STE) was being modulated by external inter...

Re: Noobs use C, real programmers use Basic

I have found that it is the design that is the real important matter here. In my experience if you have a well designed program, then the coding part is more or less trivial, in whatever language you prefer. (Personally I use very modular code). Some people prefer thinking like the machine (more eff...

My nan bought me my first computer... C64. It cost her £199. The first game I bought was Jet Set Willy as I saw it in the local Spectrum shop (nothing to do with Sinclair) and loved that it had an 'Entrance to Hades' screen . I was still at school and couldnt afford any other games after this apart ...

Zarchos: If it was me doing something like this, I would do it for my own amusement/pleasure. Obviously some people here dont like SOTB, but dont let it get in the way. You are never going to have everyone like the game you pick to convert. Just dont take it personally. Go for it! And for extra resp...

Re: We redesign the STE

TOS does what it's supposed to do, but while TOS was OK in 1985 (functionality on par with MS-DOS with a decent GUI on top), it was very quickly superseded by it's competitors. Thanks to better development tools and richer OS'es it was soon much easier and quicker to develop applications on other p...

Re: We redesign the STE

Hmm.. People seem to have a problem with TOS. I think its pretty good for what it was meant to do. Its one of the reasons that I am here, having almost given up on trying to figure out the horrendous Amiga OS and being fed up with the obfuscated/virtualized state of things on Windows. TOS is basic, ...

Does anyone here actually have a current copy of the Best Electronics catalogue that can actually verify that its available and for how much? Interesting to see the different views here. From my own perspective, I use an HP netbook (as Im right now typing this!) with W10 for general Interweb browsing/downloads, but my main dev machine is in my study room with NO network connection and Win XP on it. Personally, I dont like W10 much and fin...
