Re: TT 030 can't run Jinee (and some other apps) - two bomb bus error

The most hassle I have with my TT is the different HDD drivers. Some apps are touchy when it comes to the drive software.

I use ICD Pro on my SCSI drive and most stuff works.

Thats a good incentive for all the Jag devs out there!

Re: JOY - a new Falcon030 demo from New Beat

The sunrise effect was really nice! I actually prefer this demo over most of the Falcon/Amiga 060 ones because: 1. It works on the standard machine. 2. It doesnt try to do things that are a bit beyond its abilities. 3. Its a happy demo. Not dreary industrial. I also like that the soundtrack is very ...

Re: Porting SOTB to the Falcon

Its been a while since Ive used GLCB, but I believe the Render_GFX() function has the posx/posy variables which dictate the image size. Have a look for any vars. that are x/y pos and have the value =16 :)

While we are here.... whatever happened to poor old Zarchos?

Re: GFA Basic, STOS or Asm?

There are a few builds of GCC (v.7.xx and 8.xx) available if you want C++, otherwise Pure C or perhaps VBCC is a C compiler which compiles for ST, Amiga and even Atari Jaguar. As for suitability, I am still learning about C options on Atari. However, I find assembly is easier to deal with than C; no...

Re: GFA Basic, STOS or Asm?

@Madaxe: I use the PC version of BlitzBasic. Is the Amiga BB2 similar to that? If so, you may find something like Pure C more suitable, as C isnt a great jump from BlitzBasic (at least on the PC version it isnt) and there are some great libraries (e.g. GodLib) too. Or even have a look at DMLs amazin...

Are the later versions any more functional/faster? (e.g. NVDI 5)

Re: GFA Basic, STOS or Asm?

Rule of thumb: if VDI is fast enough for your purposes, than just use that. The VDI is never fast enough for any sort of action games. It does not even offer the basic features needed for most games, like double buffering or a reliable VBL interrupt. Do you mean on standard hardware? I was under th...

Ive always been a bit dissapointed that the Atari Profibuch was not available in English.

A translation (even of just the TT specific parts) would be wonderful!

I completely understand if its a bit too much though.

Re: Cometball - New Atari Falcon game released

Hey, congratulations for making your first F030 game! And a big thumbs up from me for making it work on the TT! Its interesting that you chose not to make an action game in low res like the majority of them are. Good call. All other computers fail due to cosmic radiation, but your Atari Fal...

Yep. Im with you on that one. Just had a boy (well, 10 months ago now) and getting pretty much nowhere with my Atari stuff.

Same with the getting rid bit, but in my case, its 21" monitors!

Anyway, best of luck with the sale. ;)

Re: External Video sync?

Thanks for the precise answers ijor! Although Im not a hardcore HW guy, it makes sense and I better understand the external sync bit now. Re: External Video sync?

So this input is not a seperate clock that sync locks Shifter only and the rest of system stays at 32Mhz then? Wouldnt that screw up any advantage of genocking as the FDD/Sound/DMA/ACIA/MFP timings, etc would be trashed by the changes? Or is it the case, as Ijor was saying that keeping the alternati...

External Video sync?

We can see the Ste has the external clock input on pin 4 of the video port and also $820A can be set to use the externally supplied clock. Now, Ive never seen anyone use it, or even a genlock for the ST range, but if Im seeing it all correctly, in theory, you could put a xtal (like the Falcons CAC c...

I believe the TT version of this was on a VME card. And no, sorry, I dont know of any sources.

Im hoping someone like Tuxie, Atarian Computing or Harry the Hamster can pull this sort of thing off if we ask nicely.

Surely there must be some schematics for one of these in an old German Atari magazine, or someone must have copied and drawn up the Autoswitch version by now?

Re: MIDI Hardware/Software recommendations?

Ok, so firstly, I do not have exactly this setup and secondly, I havent set it up yet, so this advice is a bit less specific than it could be! :P With this in mind, here goes: 1. Are both your drives recognised by the TT? 2. Shouldnt at least one of them be attached from the CBX and/or be a higher I...

Re: New TT + FALCON/ST PC-like case.

Seriously.. look at the DDD falcon/st case. It basically uses the original bottom case, so no need to cut different holes for st/ste/falcon/etc. It just puts a top flat casing over the bottom to give a desktop case. I sold mine so cant show you how simple a design it is. If you wanted to fit more st...

Re: Fast Devpac Question...

Can you not perhaps 'unify' all the graphics into one file and index the necessary part?

That would at least stop the number of includes getting too out of hand.

Re: Fast Devpac Question...

Well, you will have to calculate the bytes of data that you 'include' and compare with the amount of RAM that you have (including the size of the code too).

This is easier if all the includes are the same size!

Re: Fast Devpac Question...

Actually, the limit for the number of INCBIN includes I expect would be more limited by your machine running out of memory than by any hardcoded number limit in devpac.

How many are you actually putting in then?

Re: MIDI Hardware/Software recommendations?

If you havent done so already, I would plan your SCSI chain too. Cubase CBX (well, the D5 version that I have) requires a certain size max partition and a certain HDD driver.

(512mb if on > TOS 2.x and ICD drivers is one of the 2 choices IIRC).
