Re: NEW OR UPDATED ARCADE CORES

Yesterday I tested all your cores from https://github.com/gehstock/Mist_Cores/tree/master/Arcade, Gehstock. Thanks very much for your work. Just a question. Some cores which have OSD, have a screen direction option... that's for rotating the video or for the controls? Regards, Salva It rotates the ...

Re: Atari 2600 VCS RGB SCART

@ squid4: Thanks for your helpful work to put 15kHz support in multiple cores! This is very useful for us, 'PAL guys', using our MISTs connected via SCART to the display. Unfortunately couldn't test until now, I hope my mist will be given back to me tonight, and will try these modofied cores during ...

Re: Genesis / Megadrive core ported to MiST

Outstanding result, unfortunately I can not test it now (my MIST is far away, I lent it to my friend, and he didn't bring it back yet). Keep up the good work, have a nice weekend!

Re: amstrad cpc 6128

I apologize, just now tested the core's "scandoubler disabled" signal, and my other monitor (an LG DM2352) says it's 576i@50Hz... It's an interesting core, the only one which's scandoubler enabled/disabled video mode has not the same resolution/refresh rate...

Re: amstrad cpc 6128

Yeah, you're right, just tried it on my Philips hotel TV (functions as a multisync monitor). Unfortunately neither the resolution, nor the refresh rate is PAL (or NTSC) standard, so I doubt that it would work after mixing H-sync and V-sync.

Re: amstrad cpc 6128

I share Xtro's opinion: this computer/core deserves to run on standard PAL (or NTSC) resolution/refresh rate without scandoubler!

Galaksija

Hi all!

I was studying the eastern block's computer history, and found an interesting machine, a Yugoslavian (Serbian) computer, the 'Galaksija'.

It's already reimplemented on FPGA bases, I suppose porting it would be much easier than create it from scratch:

Re: New feature: YPbPr/RGsB output

I understand everything, and all of your work is very important and advantageous! I am preferring the original methods where possible: that's why I use my TV in 4:3 AR instead of 16:9. Playing old games with my kids and friends on a 40" LCD is much more fun than on old 14" CRT (I've a Phil...

Re: New feature: YPbPr/RGsB output

Thanks for the explanation! I was sure in the case of VGA input it's optimized for PC, that's why the video very sharp. Using other connectors perhaps the picture smoothing is stronger, and the result is softer (not adjustable using the TV-s setup menu - perhaps next time I will look around in the s...

Re: New feature: YPbPr/RGsB output

Hi All! I made further investigations in the case of the MIST's different video outputs. I used now the Amiga AGA (minimig) latest core modded by Sorgelig (YPbPr out). Used the same methods during the test as decribed in the post below: http://www.atari-forum.com/viewtopic.php?f=101&t=31006&...

Wow! That's awesome! I don't have a scaler (yet), waiting the news about your own designed scaler you mentioned earlier in this topic:

Re: New feature: YPbPr/RGsB output

What does 'All-In-One' mean?
It has VGA plug on both ends, so I suppose it needs an adapter to connect it to standard SCART or component socket...
May I ask it's wiring diagram?

Re: New feature: YPbPr/RGsB output

I had all day a question on my mind, so I have to ask it: Is it possible to map the 'ypbpr=1' parameter to the rightmost front button on the MIST? I know it's a core specific button, but it's barely used by any of the cores. Or if it's not possible, to map to the center, like the 'scandoubler_disabl...

Re: New feature: YPbPr/RGsB output

Those are badly designed cores. I believe all retro systems used standard TV resolutions. My YPbPr solution is for TV resolutions. I hope, later i will be able to use high-end HQ2x saler like in NES core. I agree, and these cores are the minority. Anyway this is a great progress, keep up your good ...

Re: New feature: YPbPr/RGsB output

Thanks for your devoted and far-reaching work! It would be nice if other authors would implement your results in their cores (unfortunately there are some abandoned ones, and some others using non-TV standard video resolutions, i.e. 800x600, or uncompatible refresh rates, i.e. above 70Hz, so I doubt...

Re: New feature: YPbPr/RGsB output

Made some pictures, so it's easier to compare the different type video outputs. I used ScreenCap SamyGo application during making these screenshots: it writes to USB the content of the frame buffer. The app is downloadable here: https://wiki.samygo.tv/index.php5/Content_Library_applications_list#Scr...

Re: MiST - new joystick/gamepad mapping

I think 12 buttons should be more than enough... I use only the first 4 on the top of the stick (in Genesis core: A, B, C and Start).

Re: New feature: YPbPr/RGsB output

Tested the cable, and it works very well! Tried all the cores supporting this feature, and all of them worked fine in progressive mode. Set scandoubler_disable option to 1 my main TV (Samsung LE40B650) had issues with two cores: the fpga64 in NTSC mode, and the Apogee BK-01. In these cases there's a...

Re: MiST - new joystick/gamepad mapping

My problem solved: Bought yesterday a Thrustmaser T-Flight Strick X in a local IT store. The salesman was very pliant and alowed me to try it out before purchase. It's fully MIST-compatible, all the directions and the 12(!) buttons recognized properly. It's price is also nice, 30 Euros. I recommend ...

Re: MiST - new joystick/gamepad mapping

I already rewired my old QuickShot II Plus - good enough for the 2-button cores (NES, SMS, PCE), but the Genesis core needs more - at least 3 (A, B and C) & Start.

Re: MiST - new joystick/gamepad mapping

Just tried it with Apple ][ core, the result is the same (missing 'right' and 'down' directions). I own a Speedlink Competition Pro DB9-version already, and really like it (I've the impression during playing that it's indestructable). Altought is has four different buttons, they all do the same, as ...
