Re: What hapened to atariforge? dev-docs moved.

My take on mirrors is thus: They should make it clear they are a mirror, and a link should be placed to the original site. As far as permission goes, if people do the above, I'm not big on needing permission, but that said if you mirror the site literally, as in the html and any original text (origi...

Re: Surviving STs

I guess it depends on what you consider cheap, I am comparing ST prices to what Amiga 500s sell at. Here are some sold listings from Ebay. I got my 1040STF in like new condition, in a box for much less than what Amiga 500s go for lately. Ah, yes Amiga 500s are double the money in my experience. But...

Re: Very first computer

Atari 520STE Turbo Pack for christmas 1990, £379 from Digicom. Bought via this ad in the first magazine(s) I bought, probably October or more likely November issue 1990, Atari ST User and Atari ST Format. http://www.atarimania.com/pubs/hi_res/atari_turbo_pack_atari-st-user-issue-62_37.jpg I already ...

Re: Surviving STs

They go fro pretty cheap on Ebay in the U.S., Amigas are getting expensive here. There are two U.S. dealers who bought up a lot of Atari inventory, Bruce at B & C Computervision told me he had over 1000 ST computers. Cheap in the US? I don't know where you get that idea... ST stuff costs a lot ...

Re: No Atari ST core?

The creator of the MiSTer has said in multiple occassions that he has no interest in the ST because he considers it a bad system so there is very little likelihood that the ST core will be ported over. So why is there a section for MiSTer on this Atari 16/32 bit forum then?? Especially as i...

Re: What hapened to atariforge? dev-docs moved.

As an aside, if people really want to ensure materials are not lost, archive.org is your friend. I got a lot of Atari stuff from there and have a small pile of "missing" magazine issues I bought off ebay for the purposes of scanning to fill in the blanks. I'll put them on my own site, and ...

Re: What hapened to atariforge? dev-docs moved.

I'm producing my own site with content drawn from all these sites as I'm concerned there's too much all eggs in one basket going on. So a more central approach would be even worse, despite the convenience being attractive. But my site is a long way off given I'm writing my own CMS to power it but at...

Re: Trying NetSurf on Atari TT

The problem is the websites, considering the content is just a bit of text mainly. This page as I write this post has: 550KB of javascript. 160KB of CSS Then there's the 73KB of HTML. That's nearly 800KB. Our machines don't have fast external comms for even downloading the stuff. Just downloading th...

Re: eBay deal gone bad

Any item in its original packaging can be damaged by some serious event. However that packaging was not even close to reasonable. The box was made out of soft cardboard so wouldn't resist anything (should be proper stiff thick cardboard) and a few bits of scrunched up newspaper is not packaging mate...

Re: Falcon NO display after NVRam replacement

This is why I'm against advising every owner to replace the caps in their machines that are showing no problems. While there's nothing wrong with swapping them out in concept, a lot of people are not good with soldering and risk damaging their pride and joy. What's easy for one person is not easy fo...

Re: The Atari ST (and others) and the Creative People

I bought volume 1 which as with most Kickstarters was very late. Or at least felt like it was. For the price paid for such a low print run book I was amazed at the physical quality, the printing, the page layout, the binding etc. A very high quality item that again, given the print run and price, wa...

Re: RETRO-BRITE...Best Process So Far

I use this which says 35% on it (my bad I thought it was 40%) and I dilute it 10:1 and it seems to work as well as the 3.5% stuff I had bought previously so it's probably 35%:

Re: RETRO-BRITE...Best Process So Far

Although more expensive, I found the safest method is to immerse the whole machine in hydrogen peroxide. I buy 1 gallon of 40% concentrate for $40 and mix it 8:1 with water ending up with 5% solution. It never dries out this way hence safe, and takes about a day or two of slightly cloudy days (I fin...

I don't know about your specific issue but the Framemeister does work with the STE if you have the right cable, which needs a resistor.

Re: Three Sparrow Mainboards on EBay

Good food is French or Italian, the rest is to feed only. Personally I think real Chinese food kick everyone's butt. But then I consider French food to be nice but way overrated and fussy and hence prefer Italian. And a lot of Italian dishes are based on Chinese dishes, including all pasta and pizz...

Re: TT030 clone - is it possible ?

Emulator on a cheap fanless Zotac Zbox is the way forward for what you want. Then you can work on stuff like higher resolutions and fixing and improving software. You'd have to do that anyway with new hardware so if you don't even get the software done it's a dead project. While I appreciate liking ...

Wanted: Protext (boxed with manual)

I'm looking for an original boxed copy of Protext, ideally as late a release as possible (6.6 or 6.5?) but a little earlier considered if cheap enough.
I'm in USA but obviously open to paying shipping from wherever necessary on top of the item price.
