Re: FS: Falcon (14MB/FPU/NVRAM/1GB CF) with new Box

I argued in a previous thread about the value of Falcon's, which were $1500-$2400 at the time, maybe 3 months ago? But I bought one for $800 (with a dead original HDD as far as I can tell, I haven't had chance to look at it) and in dirty condition but otherwise working perfectly as far as I know. An...

Re: MINT: We don't make this easy do we?

Over the network though it loads the page, formats the HTML and displays it, then tries to fetch the image, gets a few KB and then hangs saying the server timed out... Two things to check: 1. Load u:\etc\resolv.con into qed and check what type of line endings it has. It should be "unix". ...

Re: FS: Falcon (14MB/FPU/NVRAM/1GB CF) with new Box

The problem here is that you wanted people to make you the offer. No other forums I use, that allow the sale of items like this, allow 'make me an offer', you are always expected to state the selling price. You're experienced enough to have a good idea of what an Atari machine is worth roughly. His...

Re: FS: Falcon (14MB/FPU/NVRAM/1GB CF) with new Box

Come on... what community? I could vouch for maybe 10-15 members of this forum that they are true Atari enthusiasts and are not going to relist it on eBay next month. I sold my Falcon on here for a reasonable price and to a developer. My point is, why not try first then eBay if there is no success....

Re: MINT: We don't make this easy do we?

For your network issue, which ethernet driver are you using? I've found the driver provided with MiNT to be less than optimal, I'd try the Assemsoft driver. http://assemsoft.atari.org/ You da man! Yes is seems Mint does not like the ENEC3.XIF driver I was using. The Assemsoft one works perfectly, o...

Re: MINT: We don't make this easy do we?

I don't need the UNIX stuff really. I just wanted to multi task GEM stuff. Mainly so I can have a web browser open at the same time as a text editor and FTP program. I was also wondering if the web browser would work faster under a multi tasking environment, although unlikely given that jpeg decodin...

Re: MINT: We don't make this easy do we?

I think I can guess why your easymint install failed. You probably didn't create an LNX partition with HDDriver. Easymint won't work without an ext2 partition. I say this because easymint failed on me a few times before I discovered this. Every time after that, all installs went perfectly. EDIT: Ca...

Re: Is Atari wiki down?

Entire Web is BIGGEST piece of poo (even bigger than Microsoft Office and Windows) that human ever made. If today 18 years teenager should design Web, it would be surely much better than this endless 404, one-way links... complete mess. There were very specific, good reasons the web was built the w...

Re: MINT: We don't make this easy do we?

So I've narrowed down the issue with CAB to images. If I load a HTML file locally, which references an image, it all works as expected. Over the network though it loads the page, formats the HTML and displays it, then tries to fetch the image, gets a few KB and then hangs saying the server timed out...

Re: MINT: We don't make this easy do we?

I don't expect an explanation of every item, it's not necessary to get the system working, but it seems PATH is critical and the default value isn't correct. I of course know what a PATH variable is, but I can't figure out what it wants in this one. I had the stuff on U (e.g. /bin) linked to their e...

I agree, wongck deserves huge props for the guide, like I said, I was nearly there... But after wasting a whole day on it, then some more time on starting again with EasyMint, then starting from scratch yet again with Vanilla, enough is enough. I will play with it on Vanilla, then look at starting a...

Re: MINT: We don't make this easy do we?

Thanks for trying out the manual way of getting Mint on your system. The idea was to teach you to fish by going through the nuts and bolts. Sure it is much easier to just get someone to give you fish. I agree. I don't want the fish, I want to know how to fish. But I followed the document steps and ...

Re: MINT: We don't make this easy do we?

Top marks, pass go and collect $200, take a bow, the people behind VanillaMint rock. Thank you for the kind words, but I think it's a bit unfair towards EasyMiNT because - despite of it's name - it's a lot more complex than VanillaMiNT. Oh indeed. In fact I was impressed with the GUI installer for ...

MINT: We don't make this easy do we?

I finally got around to doing a full wipe of my TT and a first time ever Mint install so coming at it with fresh eyes I have a few observations... I initially decided not to use EasyMint etc and followed this guide here: http://thebigconsultant.com/probe/sw-mintinstall.html (actually it was at sites...

Where can I download Highwire 0.3.2 for 030?

I believe that was the latest version? As far as I can see the official download link don't work any more and I can't find anyone else hosting it? I finally got around to installing MiNT (thank f*** for VanillaMiNT) on my TT and I can't get a satisfactory OVL working on CAB with regards to Mint and ...

Well today I decided to catch up on some projects that has been languishing, specifically hardware. I've been wanting to use my STE with the Ultrasatan so I can have a "hard drive" as I need it for some testing purposes, so I decided against further experimenting on the DMA issue and fitte...

Hmm, I think it might be dead. Finally got around to fitting it today and although the power light comes on, there is no monitor output or floppy activity. Putting the original CPU back in the machine works as normal so I didn't damage the socket or anything (even used a n extractor tool like a good...

Re: Has anyone got CAB to work with cookies?

Browsing a 120KB web page, of which 110KB is a large 600x800 pixel 24 bit color image, performance isn't too bad at just under 28 seconds to download and render. That's faster than a 33.6K modem at least! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TYeTDDqVeKU It breaks down as roughly: 5 seconds to download, p...

Re: Has anyone got CAB to work with cookies?

As I understand it Highwire requires a multi tasking OS. Not everyone runs one. I read somewhere that with some judicious file deleting you can run CAB off a machine that only has a 720k floppy drive. Not that that's my target but the idea is to have as low a requirements as possible. If someone has...

Re: Has anyone got CAB to work with cookies?

I'm going to bump this thread up... Does anyone know of a site that uses cookies that CAB can actually log into? Failing that does anyone know of a site that CAB can login to successfully? Whether you know if it uses cookies or not... I ask as I had to give up on WordPress despite being 80% complete...
