Re: Midi Soft thru

Alternatively you could use the Atari's hardware MIDI thru but that entails using external hardware to switch between out and thru. Yeap,,exactly what I am avoiding here :) For the typical just want to do some tunes now thing, and dont want to pull the connectors in and out, specially since my machin...

Sounds like he had problems with that to begin with. "The generic 68000 with optional FPU version from the previous release has been dropped. This is because the overheads of the autodetecting FPU code were quite high and it was apparently unreliable on I/O based FPU units (as found in MSTEs an...

Re: "Insufficient memory" to load source file in MonST

You mean with like Ctrl-L ?It expects an atari executable file header and stuff. Not an ascii file as such. However the ascii version can be loaded into window 2 and 4 with A according to manual.Never had need for that myself tho. Yes, that's the thing that seems to cause a problem with MonST. I gues...

Sounds like a interesting fault..Have to read the whole thing properly later on ;) (beer and such just now) Initial thought since stumbeled on to a thing with the falcy some years back.A adress line not connected..And yes even old boards can get that sometimes. The machine does some cycles and halts ...

Re: Help Forget Me Clock

aint the file year in Gemdos same as standard Dos(and other systems) 1980 as year 0..And then 7bit +offset from that. From what I remember in GEMDOS - yes (0 = 1980), but in XBIOS - not (0 = 1900). Xbios?,,ah you mean in the write string to IKBD function, yes its only year directly if remember corre...

Re: Help Forget Me Clock

The hint is, that in this 2-digit year formally is BCD, but in reality each digit can be HEX ;) so B9 is a valid year 119 (11 * 10 + 9 * 1), and the internal conversion formula would produce 1900 + 119 = 2019. The old Atari control panel (control.acc) is aware of this, and if you type in year "...

And while we are on the giving credits thing. Liked the sources and the fact that the README.md stated the environment used.(saves the time of quessing) So it took me something like just 2-3 days of having a working one with my own netcard and a day or so to fix a interrupt buffering rout. The old 3...

Re: Help Forget Me Clock

I may only mention that TOS is Y2K compatible to some extent... it will accept 2000's until 2027. Even through XBIOS and/or IKBD serial link (serial injector). Only the IKBD firmware is completely not Y2K aware. There are also some patches that roll the year forward by 30 years or that modify the w...

Re: Which HD drivers actually use the IRQ line on IDE?

Ah,,nice, think I might have copies of that somewhere.Dont think they should be hard to find if not :)

Prefer native compiling when doing smaller stuff like that.Specially to get it compiled somewhat as the old originals is preffered for this test.
Rmac?,,have to take a look at that.

Re: Which HD drivers actually use the IRQ line on IDE?

Hi, are you referring to bit 5 of $FFFA01/3? There is a check for that in AHDI 6 sources here and I guess the same thing in Cecile here . Of course disregard if I'm off the mark :) About the AHDI sources, anyone compiled them and got it working, and if so what compiler? Would need to test a thing wit...

Re: Overheating chip on Atari STE plugged into socket U405--is it normal?

Oh yes, I missed that. Pin 4 is mono detection and is left floating. As for pull-ups I believe it is a design flaw, and despite of chip version being used, there should be a pull-up resistors on both monitor input pins (3 & 4). It is not recommended to leave input pins floating. BTW this is a g...

Re: Overheating chip on Atari STE plugged into socket U405--is it normal?

R472?,,oh you thinking about the select signal for U405 there, pin 3 on monitor connector.
Pin 4 on connector (pin 2 and 6 on U405),were the ones I had to use a pullup on when used a HC something since those tend to float
when not connected.
