Be prepared, though, that there a lot of fake Motorola/Freescale CPUs around.

Re: Protest v4 - Wanted

Are those Protest .fil disk image files compressed or encrypted? If they aren't and one must merely figure out the meaning of some headers or so, it would likely be possible to reverse engineer the file format. Particularly, if you happen to have at least one disk image both in .fil format and in a ...

Re: Preserving a floppy disk with a logic analyzer and a serial cable

I have modified my script to store a second revolution in the .scp file. Resulting image loads fine in Aufit, the HxC software and Steem SSE. Now I just have to find a floppy with "fuzzy" bits. ;)

Re: Preserving a floppy disk with a logic analyzer and a serial cable

Btw, Christian, you might want to store a little more than "just" one revolution because some disks have so called data under the index. It is not strictly necessary to store multiple revolutions, not for this purpose, but at least store up to the next trailing edge of the index pulse. Th...

My setup isn't more powerful than, e.g., a Kryoflux. It just has the advantage (for me) that I already had all necessary hardware.

Also, I don't have that game, otherwise I would of course try.

Re: Preserving a floppy disk with a logic analyzer and a serial cable

Basically you need a device that is able to sample two digital signals (index and read data) consistently at a sufficiently high sample rate (min. 10 MHz, preferably 40 MHz). I'm don't know if a Raspberry Pi alone can do this. Often, embedded Linux boards have issues with such hard real-time require...

I loaded it successfully into Steem SSE, yes.

Other options for internal SCSI devices are the SCSI2SD and the Gigafile (with the appropriate adapter).

Preserving a floppy disk with a logic analyzer and a serial cable

I tied together two pieces of hardware I already had (logic analyzer and USB-to-serial cable) with a small Python script to preserve floppy disks at magnetic flux level, a bit like e.g. a Kryoflux would do. You can read the details here: http://www.chzsoft.de/site/hardware/preserving-a-floppy-disk-w...

FYI: The version for which I posted the link contains "spinmagc.xfs 0.32, Copyright (c) Julian F. Reschke & Andreas Kromke, Jul 6 1997". But it's binary only. It was uploaded to ftp.cs.tu-berlin.de in August 1997.

Re: MagiC & spinmxfs.xfs (iso filesystem for CDs)

But it does not explain how this is supposed to work when run from the auto folder. IMHO it can only work (at all) when copied to \gemsys\magic\xtension Given that... strings spinmagc.xfs ... yields "\auto\metaxbs.prg", "\auto\metaxbs.prx" and "\gemsys\magic\xtension\metaxb...

Re: MagiC & spinmxfs.xfs (iso filesystem for CDs)

Have you read the documentation for SPIN? Imho it is explained quite well. You won't have any trouble with the German documentation, others please use Google Translate etc. Short summary: You're not supposed to rename METADOS.PRG to METAXBS.* but you should use the separate METAXBS.PRG, which doesn'...

The version dated May 29, 1985 (from floppy disk image from the link above) has already 0x01 0x00 (version 1.00) in its header, not 0.99.

I have no intention of doing so because I fail to see the benefit. When using the STinG firmware, you don't need the special applications (like wifiset and wgetst) anymore.

STinG works with this firmware: https://www.chzsoft.de/site/hardware/co ... e-internet
wgetst works with this firmware: https://www.chzsoft.de/site/hardware/di ... it-esp8266

You cannot have both.

Also note that with the PCB that you ordered you cannot simply exchange the EPROMs. The schematic and layout don't fit for 27C256 EPROMs. So the thing is basically useless, I'm afraid.

Re: Atari Test Cart

I bought mine from https://easyeda.com/nplanel/Atari_ST_Cartridge-10329107c6f942e78c3bfcc8d2efa9a8 wich tells you that you need 27C128 roms. Anyway, each dump is 32 kB. There is plenty of room in a 128 kB rom for 32 kB. Maybe you should have looked at the datasheet instead. A 27C128 EPROM is 128 k ...
