Re: C64 Core

I'm planning a project build and am hoping to not be wasteful in spending on things I may already have. I have some extra C64 breadbin cases and keyboards, a keyrah, and considering my options for my Mister (and Mist). As of January of 2020, how would one compare the C64 Mister and/or Mist cores to ...

Re: RGB vs VGA monitors and simple cables and explanation for MIST/MISTER

I've posted elsewhere about it, but I was hoping for a Mist/MiSTer 15 pin VGA to 9 pin RGB for my Commodore monitors, but I did see some interesting MiSTer settings for VGA. If my MiSTer is up to date and I want to hook it up to a VGA monitor (CRT), can I use a standard VGA connection cable from the...

Re: It's no more a MiSTery

I'm still learning about the FX core and Mistery differences and history to see what is available and which to use. In another thread I may have mixed up which core was cycle accurate.

Re: FX CAST Atari ST core

I had to sift through many search results to find ST core info for MiSTer. I am glad I found this now and look forward to reading about updates (and by posting, getting this into my personal 'stuff I follow' easy to find link)

Re: MiSTery Atari ST/STe core

I know about the original ST core for Mist, and now this second core Mistery, which I hear is cycle accurate if I'm not mistaken. It is nice to see this may get ported to MiSTer as well. Wasn't there some original ST core for Mister though? Was that the FX one? The main MiSTer page seems without ANY...

Re: ScummVM running on FrameBuffer

Setup question: Windowed or full screen options still seem to put games in a small window in the middle of my 40 inch monitor. Do I need a filter or setting to make the image fill the screen in proper aspect ratio? I would love to see someone like Smokemonster or Firebrandx do a tutorial video on al...

Re: New feature: YPbPr/RGsB output

Thank you Sorgelig for adding this feature! I hope to try it out. I currently have hdmi out going to an s-video converter and some of the picture is cut off screen so I am mostly using it on a flat tv outside of this test on my CRT in case a setting could improve the cut-off. On my Component input, ...

Re: Arcade cores

With the new changes of roms going in the Games folder, is the official way to have arcade games to have root folders like "a.1942", "a.1943" etc. or are these moved or even needed anymore? I am learning about the "RetroDriven" folder from a script.

Re: NEW OR UPDATED ARCADE CORES

A Spy Hunter core? Wow!! THANK YOU!!! So this game was problematic in MAME due to it really needing it's original arcade controller. Without an Arcade1up cabinet (like their Star Wars flight yoke) to implement the original controller, does anyone suggest the best modern equivalent? I am wondering if...

Re: "MiSTer PC Engine CD & TurboGrafx-CD Begins"

With the newly released Sega CD core, I'm very interested in the technical side of what code can (if?) gets ported to the PCE-CD code. I love hearing stories of how an arcade chip is done, and now that gives a head start on that other arcade board and it's also used in x computer, etc.

That actually surprises me. I have a TG16, a PCE and haven't noticed any problems yet with the core. I'll have to pay more attention now. I still think the core is already EXTREMELY good.

...and that escalated quickly! It's here. These cores pop out so quickly now, it's such an exciting time. I nearly feel we should be placing bets on which new core(s) release next! I immediately thought PCE-CD may show before Christmas or year's end since that is mostly a standard CD drive unlike th...

Re: Genesis Core

Not only do we have Sega CD now, but it is a standalone core as opposed to being part of this Genesis one. According to Smokemonster, as it's own core, it only takes up barely half the space of the FPGA (47% if memory serves, but I don't want to misquote SM). This is interesting because I think he a...

Re: USB Floppy support on MiSTer? Possible? Needed?

Possibly overkil indeed, but I'm glad to get the theoretical discussion wheels turning, and gauge how many would use such a feature. I didn't know if the ao486 would benefit the most from this because of the mentioned compatibility issues like Amiga disks on a Windows floppy drive. I never know the ...

hrvoje, in a recent interview with Smokemonster, your core was mentioned: https://www.retrorgb.com/artemio-smokemonster-on-retronauts.html I think this core would be a fantastic subject in a YouTube video, and would get more people knowing about Mister. For the majority of people, 'Pong' was the fir...

Re: Genesis Core

I COMPLETELY agree it defeats the purpose of FPGA. "Why not just use a PC or Pi3/4 for 32x emulation" is what echos in my mind as well as many others. Still, with the recent Smokemonster interview, I remember mention of emulators being possible on MiSTer, and thought about reasonable use c...

Re: Genesis Core

I wonder if it is possible to use the ARM side of the DE-10 Nano to get pseudo 32x support. If not, maybe like how ScummVM runs, a linux based port of a 32x emulator (Fusion?) will appear.

USB Floppy support on MiSTer? Possible? Needed?

I like theoretical discussions and thought to ask. I have yet to test support for usb hard drives or networked files. Maybe it is already possible, but are USB floppy drives supported? I am wondering what I can do with the floppy port of my WIP "Mister-in-an-Amiga-1200-case" project. Flopp...
